Just a heads up to say Ray Kane is shooting 10m air rifle on monday in Fort Benning. Will be good to see how he gets on on the back of some brilliant performances over the last while. Best of luck to him!

Ray is in the first relay tomorrow, along with such luminaries as Debevec, Henri Hakkinen, Peter Sidi, Cyril Graff etc.

I dont think he'd be shooting any 50m events at the world cup as qualifing scores need to be achieved before selection!;)

Just saw his result, 575 in the qualifying. Didn't get to see it in progress but there's a 92 in there. 597 is the highest so far. There are a lot of 594s

    Ray's AR60 scores:

    159298.png

    159299.png

Decent start, an 8 crept into the second string and the third, the fourth was getting back to form, that fifth string is really excellent (I'd love to know what happened to cause that 9) and the sixth string is quite good too. It's below Ray's domestic standard, but given that he's moved five timezones, to a spot with half the humidity and twice the temperature, it's not bad.

    From the ISSF Youtube Channel:

    Opening Ceremony

    Air Rifle Men
Worth watching this one - a shootoff for the gold medal decided with only 0.1 of a point in the difference!

Interesting that Piasecki doesn't use a shooting glove for his left hand. First time I've seen that on the circuit.

    Air Pistol Women

And the 50m 3P Women's match highlights video is up, and a good performance from Jamie Beyerle to take gold through sheer mental toughness. Low scores for a finals because of high winds apparently. Also nice to see that the line wasn't even close to being dominated by Bleiker actions, shows it doesn't have to be custom-made and gold-plated to win in 3P :D

Can't wait to start watching the live scores!

    Heres a nice selection...

Ray, Armin owns TEC-HRO, Campriani does well usually and Ken Parr Jnr from GB.

94 94 92 95 for Ray in prone, unlucky at times with a few shots just falling outside the rings.

PS Am I the only one watching this?

    Nope!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 682 ✭✭✭demonloop

Ray finished on 1108, in case anyone is still reading the thread.

However, I'd love to know what happened this guy, wheels must have came off in the 3rd standing string, got it back together for kneeling.

Anyone out there see what happened? Technical problem?

Mirosavljev is gonna be hard to catch on 1184, 7 pt lead.

394 standing! That's a hell of a good show. Hopefully he pulls that sort of game out in the qualification round now as well. We'll see this afternoon.

Think I'm a step ahead, the excitement had me thinking that was the Qual, when it was only the Elim!!

Nothin' won yet, the big stage now beckons! Arse twitching will hereby commence :D

Still like to see one of the Italians win it, good lads.

Some scarily good shooting there yesterday from Campriani, and then you look up the field and see what De Nicolo and Brodmeier were shooting! Wonderful display of ability there.

I cant see any of this stuff for some reason!!!

How is Ray fairing out against everyone else?? any result tables posted anywhere???

Still a long ways down the field, but to be fair to Ray, we're at a bit of a disadvantage in this country for 50m 3P - not enough ranges, not enough shooters, and not enough matches for training :(

    Rite............finally getting somewhere! Thanks fat-tony ;)

I take it there was two elimination details, hench the two "rounds". How are the shooters eliminated?? is it the bottom 30% on each detail or something like that??

Ray appears to be 84th out of 86 shooters if I'm reading this correctly......does he shoot again? if so when?

    Thanks :p

ISSF rulebook, 6.5.4.5 details how it's decided.
Basicly, if you don't have enough firing points for shooters, you divide up the field and the relays shoot and the top X shooters of each relay goes forward. The actual formula for X is in rule 6.5.4.5.4 and it's the usable number of firing points divided by the total number of shooters starting in the competition overall, multiplied by the number of shooters starting in the relay, rounded to the nearest integer. e.g. with 60 firing points and 101 shooters, and 47 starting in the relay, you have (60/101)*47=27.92=28 and the top 28 shooters in that relay go on to qualification.
You only see this in outdoor matches though, as airgun is all indoors, if there are more shooters than can shoot at once, you run multiple qualification relays and choose who's on which by lot.

Not for 3P. Shoots 50m Prone on Saturday I think.

Not for 3P. Shoots 50m Prone on Saturday I think.

Or to simplify, think of the eliminations as a way to get into the match proper. If there is 50 start places for the match, and 140 entrants, they will have three details and the top 50 from the various details will get to the actual match.

Ray won't make the qualification (match proper) so won't be shooting anymore 3P

Did anyone find out wht the guy behind Ray on the scorelist only fired 34 standing shots? He ****-out on the 3rd string too, maybe went for a whizz and someone chopped the end off the barrel? :D

Wierder things have happened -- remember Matt Emmon's rifle chamber in Athens and Bhindra's sights in Beijing?

Almost over intershoot - Air Pistol Women and Air Rifle Men was Monday, Air Pistol Men was Tuesday, leaving only Air Rifle Women for tomorrow.

And after that, we've got Munich in June and the World Cup Final in September and that's the end of the season for this year, and it's quiet time until we kick off again early next year in February with the European championships in Finland in February, then there's a World Cup in Woolich in April, and one in Milan followed immediately by one in Munich in May, a last one in Beijing in June and then the Olympics in London at the end of July/start of August. (That's all rifle - shotgun has a different schedule).

Yes. Yes there are. :D Now, to find a 587 somewhere and turn it in.

Waiting for the video to be uploaded now but that looks like a hell of a final. Two scores over 1180 and 1172 just to make it!

Cracking final, well worth a look. As soon as the deadline for Belgrade qualifications is past, if I've not made it, I'll be starting training heavily for the 3x40. Prone should be in a great place by then anyway.

Holy carp, the AR40 finals are tight:

In fact, you have to go down to 80th place to find a score lower than 390/400!

Nielsen just lost first place for fourth on shot 7 by only 0.2 points to Yi, with Pfeilschifter in second only 0.1 points behind and level with Zublasing. Incredibly close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

Places 6-8 are a full 0.5 points below the leading pack as well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

And on shot 8, Yi shares the lead with Zublasing, Nielsen climbs to 3rd place which she shares with Pfeilschifter, all of 0.3 points behind the gold. 6th,7th and 8th are now over a point behind the leading pack...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

Shot 9 sees Yi keep her gold medal place, pulling 0.3 ahead of Zublasing, and Pfeilsheifter and OberMoser are now tied for bronze 0.1 points behind that...
