what's happening with Tom Skinney's, all the furniture gone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭It wasnt me123

I heard they traded on Sunday night and then closed and removed all the tables etc.

Fran and Jane are closing down.

The music store in Mitchel Street has also closed down.

    Premier meats closed down

The town is quiet and the centre is dead. Its shameful really.

    *From Tipp Fm News*

Patrick Quirke has been found GUILTY of murdering his love rival – local DJ Bobby ‘Mr. Moonlight’ Ryan.
The jury convicted the 50-year-old farmer by majority verdict after deliberating for just over twenty and a half hours.
Patrick Quirke first took his seat in the dock over three months ago – making his one of the longest murder trials in the history of the State.

Knew Bobby Ryan years ago when he worked in Medite. A well liked and popular man RIP

Few lads in there yesterday doing the floors. I would imagine the timber floors are getting a bit of a spruce up :)

Yes, Subway closed a few weeks ago. I heard the franchisee's are going with another franchise, possibly Burger King or Pizza Hut but don't quote me on that.

That's so disappointing and I wish the staff well. I was there last week for the first time in my life. Got lovely food and was surprised how busy it was for food.

I'd love it if chopped went in there. There's enough fast food outlets around

Any of the motor factors will do them for you. Top part, Sean O Donoghue's, Andrew Fanning, Euro Car parts. Any of them but..... you may be asked for id or the reg book for security reasons.

Anyone seen the national socialist stickers stuck all over the town?
They don’t have the name of any particular group on them and a good few of them have ‘anti nazi’ stickers stuck over them too.
Local voting time always seems bring everyone out lol

Skinny’s is most certainly not closed. Really people need to think before they post nonsense. Music store gone simply because on line has killed them as per the owner. Not sure what’s happened to the 19th hole was always busy I’d say it’ll be back shortly. Town very busy this lunchtime not a space to be got anywhere on the street.

A poster said there was a notice on the door of the 19th hole,.Why do you think it will be back? I hope it will be!

Anyone know the best (cheapest) way to dispose of old sofas in Clonmel area?
Will be able to transport them on trailer to wherever.

I see Clonmel Waste will take them but no price listed.
Nothing specific mentioned on the council site.
I can call them both on Tues, in the meantime anyone done this recently that could enlighten me?

I think the council charge around €10 per item for bulky items, but I don’t know how bulky is bulky! If they’re in reasonable condition the svp furniture shop is another option.

For those wondering about the houses at the station,I heard that the PP ran out during construction.
Permission was extended but with exquisite timing it coincided with the builder having to remove the scaffolding for another job.

Yeah I understood that there was some issue, maybe the PP running out as you say, but that it did get the green light again. I heard that about a month ago so no idea what’s happening.

As a slight aside, whenever all of it gets done which will happen eventually, I wonder what changes will happen to the area. For example that little garage will probably boom as it’s the local shop and maybe the polish shop up there will get a lift. Is it 40 houses? That’s a good chunck of people.

Is there any truth in the rumour that there is a mosque been built up in Irishtown. Where Sean o Donoghue’s used to be. According to sources planning permission has been approved.

Where are they all going to park on a busy Friday which is there prayer day? Irishtown is extremely busy when mass is on in St Mary’s on a sat/sun. So can’t imagine what it would be like on a Friday.

Application has only been received so nothing has been approved yet.

Lunch time friday is the main prayer attendence though i would imagine as with any planning application traffic considerations for gatherings of folk would be considered as part of the planning process.
