So has anyone actually been on to UPC and gotten anything out of them as a result of being down a few decent channels?

As soon as we lose a decent channel, I'll be on to them :)

Tell you one thing, they're a pain in the arse trying to cancel your tv service.

4 phone calls, about 1 hour in total on hold, and 1 confirming email later to cancel it. They were passing me around to different people left right and centre trying to fob me off. Plus they said they'd ring me back on Wednesday evening, and they didn't bother their arse

And finally when I did cancel it, the member from the "customer loyalty team" (I find the term customer loyalty very bizarre when it comes to UPC) was offering me everything under the sun to stay with their tv service.

I told him straight up that losing 6 channels in as many months, and having the cheek to increase prices was a farce.

And what's more is that he agreed with me 100% too.

I feel a weight off my shoulders since I cancelled my tv service with them.

    Roll on FTA tv :)

I've been onto UPC and Sky. Sky was €10 cheaper a month, even with UPC Broadband and their 7.75€ surcharge. After some calls with UPC, who in fact where great, I've managed to keep UPC BB+Digital+ for €170 cheaper a year. Getting Digital+ box free, downgraded to Select and have a discount applied to my account, adding 12 months onto my contract. I'm thrilled with that. That's and extra €170 in my back pocket!

I called a couple f months ago with another issue (the not advertised price raise). Got €5 off (per month) and a new 'free' Digital+ box

Well according to the UPC salesman who was hilariously trying to make me switch from Sky the other day, they'll be getting the extra ITVs back in May. He was taken aback that I was even able to throw that one at him in the first place :D It must be soul-destroying knowing you're trying to hock an inferior product.
I hope this is true n they come back in may

Are you sure he didn't say they would be getting them back even in a month of Mays !

I have had promises from UPC - in writing - that have proven to be false within weeks , so I would not go by anything that a salesman from UPC says to you.

My UPC remote was sticking when I used it. I would have to press it a few times. I contacted UPC and was told that they would send me out a new remote but to be sure and return the old one or I would be charged. Well, sure enough I got a new remote and a docket asking me to fill in my a/c number when I returned my old remote. They then stated that they have DEBITED my a/c until they can check the old remote and see if it a technical problem. I feel this is very high handed to DEBIT my a/c account IN ADVANCE of receiving back the old remote.

Another problem I have with UPC is that if I unplug my TV for any length of time and then plug it back in - it goes back to the way you would get it from the factory - so to speak. I rang them and they said that any time I unplug my TV that I would have to punch in a special code to get back into UPC. I find this so annoying as I do not know of anybody else who has to do this. Anybody I know who unplugs their TV and when they plug it back on they are straight on to UPC. Does anybody else have this poblem?. Thanks.

I think this just sums up the mentality and attitude of this company towards its customers.

Might be better starting a new thread on this. People with no interest in the ITV channel saga may be able to help

Can we keep on the topic of ITV please. This is NOT a general "complain about UPC" thread.

UPC have been really bad with this announcement. It just shows how companies show contempt for their customers. As far as they are concerned the ITV channels are gone so lets not make a big deal about it. I was hoping we would know more by this stage.

Setanta should try to take on some of ITV4 sports.
