Kanturk beat Nenagh in the 19s tonight 10-7. Nenagh had all the possession but couldnt score and had a couple of definate scores ruled out. Kanturk are now into the 1/4s and if Shannon-St Marys beat Munsters tomorrow they will join kanturk in the last 8
Shannon won 48-5 so themselves and Kanturk are through from group B and they play each other next week to decide 1st and 2nd place ahead of the 1/4s

In group C garryowen beat crosshaven so a win next week against clonmel will give them 1st place with crosshaven aiming to beat cobh to get the 2nd 1/4 final spot

did't expect bandon to beat waterpark as they had it all to do against st. senans

Bandon are strong side and waterpark are not as good as previous years. the south are doing well at 17s level. 3 teams in 1/4s and their 4th will probably qualify
East Munster clubs not doing well at all compared to previous years. only 1 team in 1/4s at 19s and prob only 2 at 17s

Whats the story with Waterpark this season? Are the other teams getting better or are they just not as good or a bit of both?

Bit of both, a lot of clubs putting huge work into their 19s trying to catch up waterpark who have such an advantage over every club in the country in terms of resources and by the looks of the leagues its paying off.

Ormond Lad, Regarding Waterpark 19s, believe Tom Kiersey was playing for their firsts. You have got to take that into account, he is top class for them, he is their conductor at 10, very different team indeed without him, super out half.

Ormond Lad, honestly and don't mean to 'dis' you, but you should try to hide your bias and 'lay off the violin' when posting regarding your own team.

Waterpark beat Nenagh 15-6. wasnt at game but heard nengh had a definite try ruled out when they were 6-0 up and if it had been given they would prob of won.
Nenagh had all the possession but couldnt score and had a couple of definate scores ruled out

Il admit i am slightly biased about my own club but who isnt?
Yes, keirsey was missing as was tom o hare but Nenagh were also missing a few key players.
My point was that if Nenagh hadnt had a definate try ruled out they would have went into a 13-0 lead which i dont think waterpark would have came back from.

17s pan munster quarter finals were due to be on this weekend but with the regional u17 sides playing on monday, theyve been put back a week or two. In those games the South play the North in Old Christians RFC at 6.45pm with the East playing the West afterwards at 8pm

Leinster U19 League Semi-Final are as follows: Saturday 4th February 2012

Boyne vs. Roscrea/Birr Rebels @ Defence Forces Sports Complex (formerly Curragh RFC) K.O. 1.00pm

Enniscorthy vs Gorey @ Tullow RFC K.O. 12:00

    R.

Should be 2 very good games between sides that have already played each other this season. only a try between the sides in the 2 group games earlier in the season. With Boyne beating the rebels 19-14 away from home at the start of the league and Enniscorthy beating Gorey 7-0 when they hosted them in round 1 of the league back in october.

Hasnt the Irish Youths squad of 24 or 25 for the first game already been picked. Dooley the prop from Birr is in it, coldnt tell ya who else from leinsters in the squad. Munster have 6 or 7 in the squad

  • Registered Users Posts: 365 ✭✭Stanza2

Has it already been picked? where can you get the line up? Saw them play over Christmas and thought that they looked really good.

Its been picked, brothers friends with a lot of lads who were munster youths this year and 1 or 2 of the lads from leinster have twitter accounts and theyve said something about irish youths training. Most of the squad were in the initial squad that was picked for the camps in december
First game is in a few weeks against Italy in Rovigo feb 18th. Also play France and England

  • Registered Users Posts: 136 ✭✭rugby_fan

Peter Dooley, prop from Birr and Jim White, winger from Enniscorthy are both on Irish Youths Panel and should be playing this weekend

Bruff play Killarney in group 2 of the 17s league in a game rearranged from a few weeks ago. Should Bruff win theyll go on to 6 points alongside Clonaakilty who they will play in round 3 the follwoing week to decide who tops that group
In group 3 of the 17s Ennis host Clonmel to decide who goes through to the 1/4s behind Kanturk.

There is a full round of games in the 19s with several 1/4 final spots still up for grabs.
In group A Bandon are through after defeating reigning Munster u19 champs Waterpark last weekend and should beat Castleisland tomorrow to clinch a Home 1/4. Waterpark host St Senans tomorrow and the winner of this game will qualify for the 1/4s.

In group B Shannon-St Marys and Kanturk are both through and they play each other in Coonagh on Sunday to decide who gets a Home 1/4 final
Nenagh host Young Munster in a dead rubber on Sunday

In group C if Garryowen defeat Clonmel on Sunday they will top the group but If Garryowen lose and Crosshaven defeat Cobh there will be a 3 way tie and a playoff will be required

In group D if Highfield beat Bruff they will be through. Bruffs game against Tralee wasnt played last weekend so both qualifiers from this group will more than likely not be decided this weekend

Gorey bt Enniscorthy 11-10 and birr/roscrea bt Boyne 13-11

Boyne slow to start, Birr DG followed by try in first 20 to go 10 - 0 up. Boyne took control to get 2 penalties by 1/2 time (10 - 6 to Birr). Birr penalty in second half to go 13 - 6 up. Boyne missed 2 penalties, scored a try missed conversion to leave score 13 - 11 to Birr (Birr missed late penalty). Wet weather, heavy pitch nullified Boyne's backs....

Game could have gone either way without complaint from any team.

    Waterpark 56 - 6 St Senans.

Waterpark played really well in less than ideal conditions. Jack O'Donohue and Tom Kiersey pulling the strings for Waterpark and really made a difference coming back into the U19's side. Good game to ref and really enjoyed it. St Senans were hit by injuries.

Shannon beat Kanturk 50-3 in 19s group B this morning to top that group and Shannon will now play Waterpark at home in a 1/4 with Bandon hosting Kanturk

Young Munster conceded to Nenagh in the other game in group B of the 19s
    Any other results?

Sounds like two extremely tough matches, has the makings of a good final with quality players on both sides

Not sure but think the final is not due to be played for a few weeks. Whenever its played theyll have a bit of a wait for the all ireland semis as in munster the group stage of pan munster isnt finished until next weekend with 2 rearranged games being played and then their is the 1/4s,semis and final at both age groups

  • Registered Users Posts: 136 ✭✭rugby_fan

That is true although the winners will hav Leinster cup fixtures in between

The Leinster Finals are down for the 1st weekend in March with the All Ireland Semi Finals and Finals down for the last two weekends in April.

If the teams have a OK cup run they will have plenty of rugby to keep them going.
