I was there last year sometime - thought it was a lovely meal, although my friends (who had the same main course) thought it was lovely at the time, but didn't feel too great afterwards - whether it was anything to do with what they ate I don't know though. I think maybe what they had was quite rich - it was was chorizo and chicken with a kind of creamy sauce so maybe it was too heavy for them.

I had pate for starter and a ravioli with asparagus and parmesan cream sauce for main. It was a bit pricy but I thought it was lovely.

    Haven't been back since though.

Such a shame about Iago leaving the market. Like most people it was on my usual route around the market for my Thursday dinner! I was a little bereft when I realised it was gone. I could almost taste the ravioli :(

what is "iago"? is that the sandwich/salad place that was opposite the fish counter? Is it gone to princes st? if so, is it sit in and where exactly is it?

It's not. Iago cheese, pasta, chorizos etc.

It was at the opposite end to the sandwich/salad place, but in the fish "bit" if that makes any sense.

Still not had time to pop by their shop, but will do next weekend, if they're open by then. I need some chorizo in my life!

The new shop isn't as enticing as the stall in my opinion :( I meant to pop in at the weekend but just didn't have the time.

I went to the Sultan last week with work friends on recommendation of this thread. Absolutely delicious and great service. One thing that it missed was a glass of wine, and I'm not even a drinker normally! I'll definitely be back though.

I noticed Iago as I was passing at the weekend, and just had a look in to see what it was like. Shop was totally dead, don't know if they'll get as much business as the market.

Was in Club Brasserie last night with mum for her birthday dinner. I was there for the first time during the summer and the food was outstanding I have to say.

It didn't dissappoint this time either. The one thing I will say is that the starters are very overpriced but I think you get that in a lot of restaurants. Myself and my mum both had the portobello mushrooms for starter - they were really tasty but not worth it for 9e - but it was a special occasion so we didn't mind ;)

For main I had herb marinated chicken breast with a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce, potato gratin and wilted spinach and a few cherry tomatoes scattered around it - it was so tasty!

My mum had a divine sirloin steak - cooked perfectly, 3 big chunky onion rings on top of the steak and it was served with potato gratin, sauteed onions and veg and pepper sauce.

We then shared a chocolate and rum roulade for dessert.

My mum had a pint of heineken also.

The whole thing came to 71e which was pricy enough I guess but it was very good - you couldn't fault it really.

I would go back again but probably only for special occasions. It was very quiet in there which I thought was suprising with it being so close to Christmas.

I also noticed on the way in that the Boardwalk is now only open from Monday-Friday from 5PM onwards and is open at 2pm on Saturday and is then closed on Sunday? Has it been this way for a while? They obviously aren't doing well, and it doesn't suprise me.

The boardwalk opens on Sundays over Christmas, I think, but most of the year, it's closed on Sundays. That's been the case for at least 2 years anyway.

Really? Is that up towards the hospital end? I saw the paint shop that used to be there is gone now, I wonder is that the new place gone into the same unit.

Yeah, it's between the old Lennox's and the Cupcake Cottage. Saw it about 10 days ago with a load of workmen in there, but haven't been past since.

We ate in the East Village over the weekend, upstairs. It was okay. I was really hoping for more flavour, given the prices. Mains needed seasoning and the desserts weren't particularly well balanced. I had a brownie sundae that was about 20% cream from a can, 20% ice cream and 60% extremely dry brownie. I wouldn't recommend the place really, considering the prices (although I do love their chicken wings!).

Spotted Ramen,Anglesea St. and tried it on Monday when they opened. Went back there yesterday.
Take out noodle dish brought back to office and I had to let it cool down before eating - the wonders of modern technology. Asked the guys about it yesterday and they use lined cardboard boxes which keeps food hot forever!
This is a serious new option for Cork.I love it.
I can bring the Princess to Electric,Ambassador,Man Friday ( Kinsale) OR now get a super take out at this new shop. My marriage is saved!!!

Perry St Market is down the side of Eason's. I didn't have a great experience there, but maybe it's worth another shot.

I can't wait to try Ramen, sounds like an ideal spot for take-away lunch, pity I'm not working near it!

I had breakfast there one morning - possibly the worst meal I have ever been offered up in a restaurant - dreadful, rubbery egg, dried-up bacon, and sausage, nice tomato accompanied by rocket and some, nice-ish toast. It was also quite expensive. Haven't, and probably won't, be back.

I'm surprised to hear the bad reports of Perry St., I had lunch there a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the place.

I'd generally agree but I thought their early bird was fantastic value last time I was there, seemed like you got loads and it was quite tasty for the price.

Perry Street had massive teething problems on opening imo. It's overpriced still so I wouldn't go back.

Serendipity on the Western Road again for me today. One of my favourites and very well priced.

Agree. The place was farcical when it first opened! No point in having a big opening with fancy decor etc. if you don't even have a card machine working. Also porridge with roasted almonds and honey isin't quite the same if the honey comes 5 minutes after the porridge and the roasted almonds never show up!

It is a nice enough setting but overpriced and a bit pretentious so I wouldn't be rushing back.

any new business will have teething problems on an opening..

its more expensive then say O Brien's but you pay for what you get..
All the food is unprocessed and a lot of it is locally sourced..
Its cheaper than its immediate competitor nash's..

Serendipity is nice, I've been there in the evening too and it's got a really nice atmosphere.

Didn't try Perry Street yet, it looks very busy though.

Serendipity is pure yum. Everything made on site every day, lovely setting, quick and friendly service and very reasonably priced. I often go after work but before college for my dinner and it's fairly busy at that time too. I love it, so cosy too!
