I would say Electric - nice vibe, good food - the restaurant is upstairs and then there's a lovely bar downstairs. You'd want to book it fairly soon though if you're going to as it is quite popluar.

such a pity they do not allow a byob code.. but they obviously feel v strongly about it what with the age in which we live it and where we are etc..

i hope they change their mind though,.

Was in Electric last night for an early bird and had a beautiful meal!

Had chicken liver pate for starter, hake served with savoy cabbage, a lemon and parsley potato cake and a mushroom sauce and then for dessert had flourless chocolate cake with a peanut icecream and biscotti. It was all delicious!

I also had a glass of white wine - whole thing came to 27.50 - thought that was excellent value

We had a great meal in Electric on Friday night, great food as usual. There was one awful incident though where a man at another table absolutely ate the face off one of the waiters. It was completely uncalled for and ruined everyone else's meals. The worst part? The whole table he was with laughing their heads off. Some people really are ignorant clowns.

Had dinner in Italee on oliver plunkett st the other night. Didn't even realise they were open at nighttime at the weekend... Anyway, all good. Small menu, a couple of bruschetta and crostini, plate of antipasti... Three salads, three pastas, one meat one fish dish i think. Friendly service.

I had the tomato bruschetta and a salad with crispy parma ham. Very simple food, not fancy, but tasty. Tiramisu was outstanding, one of the best ever.

It's a nice spot to hang out, upstairs by a window with a friend, a sharing plate of meats and cheese, and a bottle of wine, pre-pub maybe. Watching the busy corkonians go by below.

Big shout for Liberty Grill. We ate there for dinner a few months ago and thought it was OK. Quite good with a good atmosphere, but the whole thing was a bit fast paced (for us anyway).Needing to use or lose my annual leave, I checked the car in for a service today and headed into town. Passed Liberty Grill and thought about the postings here for brunch. Armed with De Paper I went in. What a brunch! I ordered scrambled eggs benedict. The eggs were amazing as was the bread. The hollandaise sauce was out of this world. A really nice pot of coffee ( 2 cups) and I was well pleased. A super buzz about the place and no wonder the queue is out the door at weekends. 10/10 for me for brunch! Staff were really nice too.

We've started eating brunch there more often (such a pain it's not open on Sundays though) and the brunch is excellent. I had the best steak sandwich ever there recently.

I was there on Saturday with my mum and it was amazing as usual - eggs benedict with a side of Rosscarberry black pudding and sauteed buttom mushrooms, orange juice and tea, mmmm heaven! I was stuffed for the rest of the day! :D

Not exactly cork city but i ate at the lee valley golf club last night.
They had a 2 for 1 offer on main courses on mon-wed for november so we said we'd chance it.
The food was savage. I had carbonara and it was easily the nicest ive had anywhere. We were seated in the bar in a nice cozy corner and staff were friendly and helpfull. We got 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts for €34 which is almost half what it usually costs us in town. Granted one main was free but even without that it would still only have been €45 without drinks.
I look forward to eating there again, with or without special offers.

Eat in La Dolce Vita on Saturday night, it was very nice!

shared the seafood mixed platter it was huge, muscles, prawns, calamaris, and cubes of a deep fried white fish (not sure what) and Salmon. was really good.
I got pizza and hubby got the meatball pasta also very nice.
for desert hubby got the tiramisu and i got the chocolate cake, the cake was TINY and more expensive then the huge tiramisu which was a bit annoying.

its great to see the place busy, the last time i was in there it was only half full this time it was completely full!

Noticed that Iago, of the English Market, are opening on Princes Street - it would be nice if they started doing their sandwiches etc again - they used to be the best.

I saw that... did they try to open in blackrock ages ago, and then went back to the market? Brain is foggy on if it was them.

Will be a shame for them to leave the market, they are on my usual shopping trip around in there. Princes street isn't too far out the door.

You're right they did open in Blackrock - didn't last long - but it was in addition to the market.

I'd be very surprised if they were leaving the market - rent is far too small there to make leaving seem a good decision. I presume it was going to be as an add-on - like Blackrock was, concentrating on hot food, ready meals etc - they were setting up this morning so I'd expect they'll be open in a few days, so we'll see.

Seems I was wrong - IAGO shop open and stall gone from the Market.

Hopefully the shop will go well for them so they can stay open, that place has the best selection of cheese and chorizo. Will definitely pop by to see the new place!

Is it the same set-up in the shop, or are they offering anything different?

Don't know - it's hard to see without going in - and, unlike in the market where you could browse with impunity, going in the door of a shop, is a bit of a commitment so I won't be entering until I know I need something from there.

Who will take that stall in the market I wonder? They must be in high demand.

Ad in the paper last month looking for tenders for two other stalls there - IAGO is a big stall though - at possibly the coldest part of the market - staff always looked frozen.

The Sultan restaurant (Lebanese stuff) has a deal on living social at the moment. Half price lunch for two. Nice food there, serving size a bit small though. But this voucher is worth it. Dont have the link sorry, just saw it on my phone app!

Since we're on english market where are ur go to vendors for meat and whatever else? Is the chocolate shop there any good?
Also does any restaurant in cork get as much business as liberty grill? The amount of times theres a queue out the door is staggering
