You implied everything you said. I was once a trinity student and tried to use my student number but it wouldnt work, and now I am currently studying for a masters degree elsewhere,

I know several people who left the college without graduating who have been able book tickets. So I call shenanagins.

I have no business there, who are you to tell me I have no business, I had fantastic years in Trinity and greatly contributed to sports success with the college, so I dont have any business there, are you the current model student because if this is Trinity's new breed of student then I finished at the right time.

First I'm a graduate, so your point is moot. Secondly what I said was you have no business at the ball unless you are the guest of a ticketed person.
Plus, punctuation is important. the end of a question is usually marked by a "?".
    thegift06 wrote: »
You said unless I was a guest of a ticketed member of the trinity community, well my friends have tickets, so if someone was willing to use there student number for me. would be my friends guests.

That would be true if they bought a ticket for you, you have said they cant.

I think you need to step down from that high horse of yours

I think you need to understand that none of the things I have said are meant to do anything other than inform people who read your post that they could get in a lot of trouble by giving a ticket to someone who cant get one by any other means.

regarding your comment about people who have left without graduating still being able to book tickets, I never challenged this. I simply said that it did not work for me. Do you mean Shenanagins or Shenanigins? You can call ShenanIgins all you want it doesn't really matter to me what your opinion is.

We are not doing an english essay or story here so punctuation is not entirely important in my opinion, maybe you have a little thing about punctuation, you sound like someone who does.

    Definition of a guest:

In fairness to you I agree with your last paragraph, I take your point and actually agree with you. I know you were only pointing out the consequences and respect that, but you also must understand my frustration, a former TCD student and I cant get tickets, extremely frustrating.

I've been quiet ignorant here by not reading the rest of this thread however, I just want to point out how utterly p***ed off I am at not even getting an opportunity to register for a ticket for the ball. Surely they should allow people to continue registering until all tickets have been purchased. Considering that it is a first bought first secured system.

I know this post may not lead to any sympathy but as a fourth year about to graduate I would really love to get the chance to attend.. So, if by any chance in the coming days or weeks anybody may have a ticket available or registration code to purchase I would be forever greatful if they could get in touch with me.

Dude, chill the fúck out. Next week, all college noticeboards will be plastered with advertisements by people trying to sell tickets. I buy two every year - keep one for myself and sell the other at an outrageously inflated price. Some idiot is always willing to pay. I remember on the day of the ball last year, people were still selling tickets on the Facebook page an hour before the ball started!

lol, this is the part that I'm not keen on. As if €78 was not bad enough, some fool will be trying to charge me double. Not implying that you are a fool of course. :)

Touting, ****'s sake. That's terrible like. Even more terrible considering you're saying it to someone who didn't get the chance to buy a ticket. "Don't worry mate, I bought an extra ticket I didn't need, I'll sell it you at double the price".

Did anyone else pay by paypal? If so, have you received a confirmation email? I paid by paypal yesterday morning around 9.30am (have the receipt from paypal to say its paid) but the online application checker says that I haven't paid yet and I haven't gotten any email from tcd to say that I've been allocated tickets?

Don't worry. You will get people who can't go and will want to sell at cost price or less.

I'm in the same situation myself actually. Although they said allocation can take up to 48 hours.

Maybe they're get lucky and we'll have another ash cloud incident, I heard there was a few of half price tickets going around after that!

Don't pay anyone more than cost price for a ticket, you can always get one for the regular price on the night. Plenty of residents go get their residents band and then sell the actual ticket that evening - or at least that's what I did and plan on doing again this year! Apologies though, I've already promised to give it to a friend for half price.

There really is no market for ticket touts for the TB. It's so easy to find one for cost price nearer the time just from people who can't make it/bought for someone else who didn't need it etc.

True that, someone I know was a little panicky about not getting a ticket but I said to wait, there's always loads around.

Trinity Ball 1985. No online tickets back in those days :p
    Academia
DOUBLE TICKETS· FOR this year's Trinity Ball are fetching up to £90 on the black market. Most years there are small profits to be made in the resale of these tickets, but this year black market prices are the highest ever.

There were 600 fewer tickets sold this year due to the activities of the TCD firebug. The fact that the college dining hall has been damaged by fire means that the campus will be able to accommodate fewer late night revellers than in previous years. There was much unngentlemanly and unladylike conduct in the queue for tickets last month, with reeports of queues being skipped, hands being broken and minor bouts of fisticuffs occurring, as students waited for hours in the rain to pay the official price of £29 for double tickets.

A welcome development in the annual Trinity week has been the scrapping of what one organiser called "the usual sexist, racist and generally offensive rag mag." Instead, a more serious pubblication "Mayday Magazine" has been produced. Concenntrating on music, theatre, fashion and the arts, it conntains interviews with the likes of Bob Geldof, Molly Keane, Richard Ingram, Quenntin Crisp and A.I. Cronin. It is professionally produced and retails at a mere £ I, with all proceeds going to Concern. It will, we are assured, offend nobody.

"Im not upset they werent all listening it upset me to see so many young people so not with it. Not used to it. Its hard to sing when i just wanted to go in the crowd and help all the crying girls being squashed...."

Something's going to have to be done about upping the standards at the TB. It's now impacting negatively on the college instead of positively.

If you want to behave like a drugged-up wino in a tux, there are plenty of places down the bad end of town that would be only too happy to accomodate you.

I wonder will Paddy Prendergast put a stop to it?

Just because some people (girls usually it seems) can't handle getting off their heads doesn't mean everyone else should suffer.

Ban women, except for performers. Problem solved.

i picked up quite a few girls off the ground last night, and not one lad. i was drinking heavily. i know my limits. people are just idiots for getting too hammered.

how the f is she not used to seeing people hammered/on drugs? i would have never gone to see her if i wasn't hammered. i like pretty much all music, but even still, i did not enjoy her one bit. jessie j can go suck it.

@JonJoe: what's wrong with being a drugged up wino at the ball? i can safely say that there has been mass drug taking at every single trinity ball in the past, and there will be in the future. there were definitely people on lot of on mdma; obvious by their huge pupils and chattiness. it's most likely that whole thing would go a lot more smoother if everyone was taking mdma instead of downing naggins in the queue before they go in.
