So, the lineup's out. I'm quite sure this video wasn't meant to be seen yet, but such is the continuous fuck-up-ery of TCD Ents.

BellX1 will be delicious, but there's no real stand-out acts tbh. Who even knew The Streets were still in existence?

    Thoughts?

Who's going to fork out the €80 this year?

TB has become a MCD-run drunken/drugged-up mess. It's the same format to any other muddy-field rock concert you find can find advertised on builder's hoardings. The only difference is you have to "dress up".

The hired-in security are thugs and it's incredibly uncomfortable.

There was a day when to be seen at the Trinity Ball was a good thing.

That said, I like The Streets. I don't however like the sight of 100s of obnoxious gimps in hired polyester "dinner jackets", complete with M&S wing-tip collar and clip-on bow-tie-with-matching-cummerbund set. (actually these days it's gotten to the stage where you're lucky to see any man still wearing his jacket and tie by the time he enters Front Gate). Black tie is the exception rather than the norm. I don't know why they bother maintaining the pretentiousness. Baggy jeans, sweat bands and glow sticks would be far more appropriate attire for the TB. Oh and water, lots of water taps.

Really there should be a much stronger Garda presence at the TB.

I haven't heard of The Streets since I was like 12. Are they the headliners?

Pretty pleased with that, The Streets with a few drinks in would be great fun.
I never feel at all wowed by Irish names but Bellx1 are a good shout.

Hopefully they'll announce a few more acts!
    Like, The Streets? For seriousssss?

Although, yeah, most people are probably just going to fall around and puke.

The Streets had a new album out two weeks ago I think. They're prob back on tour promoting it. Haven't heard ANYTHING about them in forever though. A few drinks will fix that though :D

Very pleased - nice to see an alternative to the usual techno electro sh!te.

Wow, that's a lot of boring Irish rock bands...

So far Simian Mobile Disco and (possibly) Alex Metric are the only acts even slightly worth going to...holding out for some more danceable acts though..usually the good electronic stuff only gets announced closer to the date...

Really impressed with the line-up I have to say. BellX1 and a farewell performance from The Streets should be well worth it.

Judging by facebook, I feel like I'm the only person who isn't mad about the line-up really. Just not mad into The Streets/Bell X1/The rest of 'em at all. In terms of the Ball (what I've seen of it in the past 2 years, anyway) it's a very good line-up, should be nice and energetic and fun. But I can't help but harbour the possibly naive notion that some day I'll see a ball line-up that has a headliner that really gives me that 'wow!' feeling. A band who I'd rush to buy tickets for if I saw they were playing a gig in Dublin, as opposed to one who just make me think "ah, they'll be good craic at the ball". I realise this is probably difficult/impossible, but sure.

    Don't worry, you're not alone.

Ridiculously bad line-up. The Streets are great, but they haven't done anything good since about 3 albums ago, so you can guarantee most of the set the crowd won't know, and the atmosphere will be as bad as at Dizzy Rascal.

Dance acts are terrible, which is odd, because I though Genockey was supposed to be into his dance or something. Shows how little he has to do with the whole thing.

Mike Skinner should be booked to do a performance somewhere else while he's here, maybe like Scroobius Pip at Exchange last year. If that happens that'll be the best thing to come out of Trinity Ball 2011.

I've heard a few times that the Ents officer has absolutely no say in what acts get booked for Trinity Ball, it's all MCD...

I had great craic with the security last year, they were sound.

And who doesn't like getting dressed up!?

    Not liking that one bit.

I don't care for any of those acts :/
Think I'll give it a miss this year, €80 is a lot to go along just for the craic

Think I'll give it a miss. Only like FLA and Royseven. Not parting with €80 for that tbh.

Not impressed by that line-up at all, but I never am. As always, if my friends buy tickets I will dutifully follow.

How viable is it to sneak in?

Would really like to go but not a TCDer and could do without spending €80

    It's not viable

As usual, the sheeple are only too ready to accept mediocrity. That is an absolute shíte line-up. The Trinity Ball lost its prestige years ago and has been in decline ever since. Who do we blame for this - the SU or MCD? That said, I'd be willing to pay the €80 to smack the Rubberbandits in the face. Absolute gobshítes that wouldn't be out of place in the SU.
