I read the ad wrong and was flicking through the pictures thinking 1,600 a month for this place? That's pretty damn cheap.

    :(

I don't have an ad to post but when i was a poor student looking for cheap accommodation i visited an apartment where my possible bed was a mattress in the bathroom...in the ONLY bathroom.....the three flatmates all had toffee, like golden syrup stuff on their faces and were very keen for me to join them in their 'game'...
When I moved out of halls the lads loved having the spare room so used to wreck the place every time someone came to view the room.
One time they left a shopping trolley filled with rubbish bags in the bedroom.
I'd say we can expect posts here from confused students soon.

It looks like a garage conversion.
If has a crying sofa and a crying chair.
The garden is in bits and needs mowing/weeding. Look like the landlord will take care of the place!

The sad thing about these is that a lot of the time landlords will actually get tenants at these insane prices. People who just start renting for the first time and who might not have a lot of money. This really something that should be regulated.

I moved recently and viewed a place that I wish I had pictures of to put on here. The gaff was 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a 'living room'. The living room was about 6X3 foot with a couch that took up more than half the space. If you sat down you'd just be staring at a blank wall which your knees would be banging off.

Then onto the bedroom, a mattress on the floor and a wardrobe with no doors. The landlord said he'd removed the wardrobe doors so that the room would look bigger. He also assured me that I could 'put whatever I want in the wardrobe.' I dunno what he thought I planned on stashing.

Then, the piece de resistance. I walk into the kitchen and inquire as to whether or not there's a washing machine (how foolish and naive I was). 'No, but it's not a problem, I just wash my clothes in the sink' he replies as he points to the kitchen sink which is full of his jocks. Needless to say I passed on the opportunity of living in that oasis.

I'm fairly sure (though I think it might depend on the type of tenancy offered) that that place would fall below minimum legal standards.

Well who would you go to? I was in the position years ago and I found that there is very little in the way of regulation in this country!

It wasnt a deposit problem. It was when I first started renting and the landlord was acting a boll"x.

I see you didn't ask him where the "toilet" was...

Probably a bucket in the wardrobe or something :D

I didn't hang around long enough to find out but maybe that's what I was supposed to put in the wardrobe.
