    Folks,

I've a quick question but didn' want to set up a thread. My television is suffering from lag input i.e the pad makes a move but the TV gets that move and the gun responds a second or so later. Is there any solution to it? I've read online and some are recommending a VGA cable to minimize the transition the TV has to make. I've tinkered around with the settings but to no avail. Other games aren't as bad.

    Many thanks.

Some tv's also have a game or gaming option for video, try that out too if your tv supports it. Doing it is meant to reduce input lag.

A 1 sec delay is huge tho... are you plugged directly from your console(You are on console right ?) into the tv?

I can't imagine any cable being the cause for such a big delay.

stinger should be default or unlocked very early, this is ridiculous having to waiit till level 40 too unlock it, javelin is bollocks for shooting down things, sam turrets seems to only go for uavs most the time.
Use a prestige token to unlock it, its the first thing i unlocked, i hated not having it either during the early levels of a prestige

Aye I unlocked the mk14 with my first token cause i love that gun but will do the stinger next prestiege mos def! Shoulda done it the first but suuuure live and learn
Still tho it should be unlocked earlier..

    Step1 - Try a new pad, same console /tv/cables.
(If it resolves then you know its the pad)

Switched pads from a wireless to a wired controller but it isn't the pad's fault.
Step2 - Try original pad but new console if poss, same tv/cables
(If this resolves then you know its the console)

New console isn't a possibility though. I've googled the issue and people with fine working order consoles aren't having problems.
Step 3 - Try the original pad and console but new cables and same tv
(You get the idea by now)

I get you. I've fiddled with the wires and used some and not others etc. but the lag is still existing.
I have never heard of this happening before and it'd be more than likely the console if you ask me seeing as the pad is really a dumb piece of kit in the scheme of things.

It's a persistent problem on some forums. All HDTVs have a specific lag input. Some might be low (barely noticeable) and fairly high, like mine. Thanks for your help hightower.

I've had a look but cannot find a thing. The TV is perfect for movies and standard television but with games it's a let down.

Well I might exaggerate with one second but it's a little more than milliseconds after which doesn't sound big but it's a huge nuisance. I've a HDMI cable in, lag still there, I've removed it, lag there.

Thanks for help. Just thought that since much of the community has HDTVs there may be a solution. I'll root around more online and see if I come up with anything.

Maybe you are just too fast for this world...

Have you tried a different tv?

I know what you mean with the minor lag - really throws you off. Anyway the problem afaik is that the TV itself is applying effects to the picture, hence the time differential. Try turning off any extra tv effects; movie mode/motion effects etc etc

If you can't find the appropriate settings then it's a possibility that the settings are built into the TV.

402 suggests the use of a sniper loadout across Liberation, due to it's strong sightlines. Support pointstreaks are also highly suggested, as these new maps require some getting used to, and keeping a Specialist/Assault streak running can prove quite tricky

He also recommends the use of
Blind Eye, Assassin and Dead Silence to keep yourself hidden while you get used to the new maps

This bowling fella is a noob and a 'tard!

EDIT: Source is Digital Warfare 24/7

The previous TV which was non-HD works fine which is frustrating seeming as I had high hopes for it.

I've tinkered with the settings but there's nothing big to remove or turn off. No game modes/film modes or anything. I'm thinking it's in-built.

One or two guys have gotten VGA cables that have helped so I might give that a shot. Thanks for replies.

Some tvs are just bad for games. What's the full name of your tv?

Using the spas yesterday. I like it but it seriously does my head in. When I got 5 consecutive hitmarkers and deaths in Seatown I went mental. Clan was telling me to calm down. Then they all equipped it and 5 minutes later rage quitted
Think you have to have damage unlocked to get the most out of the SGs. They're fun to use but just find them way too inconsistent.
Have tried to Striker post patch and don't see much difference there either.

Really? I thought it made a big difference. Enjoyed using it before but just frustrating as hell now!

Yeah...haven't used it much post-patch but the few times I did thought it was ok. Not unlocked it yet this prestige and hate using default classes.

According to Bowling, they're ditching some low population playlists and adding some HC FFA and HC HQ

Lads would love to join clan as getting tired of joining games with randoms who haven't a clue what they are at and just going for kills and not objective  (play mainly Dom) but do you think a headset is needed to play properly?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭Not The Real Scarecrow

you definitely need a head set if you're gonna play with any clan, especially for domination. A few of us play on a regular basis and if we couldn't communicate with each other there would be alot more deaths. You need a mic to properly synchronise attacks or flag capures. It also handy when some one runs a recon drone.I've lost count of the amount of times yimrag has saved some ones ass with a good call out.
Played a few times with people with out mics and being honest you may as well be playing with randomers the majority of the time, cause you can't communicate. No point being in a clan if you're not gonna use a mic imo.

aye, a mic is defo a must. More for having the craic than teamwork (Don't really need teamwork when you have 2+ people in this game !).

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,407 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

^ yeah was going to say the same thing. My clan tend to use the mic solely to rip the piss out of each other or th'enemy

On totally different does anyone use bouncing bettys or claymores at all? I guessing it's either frags or semtex for most but just trying to change it up a bit and wondering which seems to be more effective?

Tmart has a vid on this... effectively bouncing betty has a 360 radius effect with a certain level of damage, whereas the claymore has higher damage but a tighter working angle.

Oh, and there's also differences in distances before they trigger..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭Not The Real Scarecrow

use both on different classes.Claymores are better in doorways and bettys aren't great anywhere.Found some success with them in domination by leaving them at capped flags.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,407 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

Think Bouncing Bettys are useless tbh. Claymores get me more kills than any other lethal equipment but I was a claymore hoor on MW2. Lot's of ppl run that pro perk (which I now use a lot but for some reason can't remember what it's called) that delays them which renders them pretty much useless.

Started using the throwing knife recently. I'm useless with it but it's great when it works.

When do you get prestige tokens? Have prestiged twice though might get another custom class but got prestige token instead, do you get one after every second prestige?

Everytime you prestige in MW3 you should get a prestige token which you can use in the prestige shop to unlock stuff, including custom class slots.

There is a fairly rare glitch where you prestige and do not get a token. As best as I can tell if you play a few games after you prestige, you should get the token but not 100% sure of this. One of the guys I play with prestiged but then immediately quit game and when he went back in.... no token.

If you prestiged and didn't get a token you may be able to contact Activision to fix it?
