PS1/PSone Mod Chips

I'm putting in an order for some ps1/one mod chips after the hols, just putting the word out to see if anyone is interested in having a console modified? Multi-region benefits, amongst others. Just let me know & I'll order the appropriate amount of chips

How hard is it to do the mod? Wouldn't mind a chip if it's handy enough to do myself, checked the old PS a couple of months ago and it's barely working with its chip.

I've only ever done a PS1, which was quite easy. This particular chip needs 8 wires soldered into place for full compatibility, what type of PS have you got?

Original Playstation with the expansion port in the back but it was hard-chipped inside. The console is pretty much fcuked though, takes about 30 seconds to load the opening to any game and actually doesn't read any not-proper games.
I should be able to pick up another console handy enough though so I'd take a chip and have a go myself.
EDIT: How much are they?

Postal costs etc have to be factored in, depending on amount folks want etc. The more that's ordered, the cheaper it becomes. I'll wait a week or so before ordering.

Ok so that's three so far.

Well this is the chip for PAL consoles, there are ones for JAP/US too. All media will be direct boot, so import games etc will boot like a normal PAL game.

Not sure how much I'll charge for installation, but it won't be crazy money given the cost of the chip etc.

I'd like to have a go at it myself so I'll find some way to get them off you. If you're ever ordering some for PS2 chips be sure to mention it here. :pac:

Jaysus, my PS1 is still modded since I was 15... Must have a dig out for it, although it's plastered in Rayman 2 stickers

I'd really rather avoid ordering chips for people & then when I get them I have to post them on again...doesn't make sense paying for all that postage So if anyone wants a chip(s) that can pick them up in person from me that's fine, but if you need them posted on again your really better off ordering direct form the link above.

I wouldn't mind getting in on this as well if possible. I don't have a PS1 at the moment though. I've been checking ebay and I imagine I'll be able to get one without too much hassle.

Would this allow you to play NTSC games at full speed or would it be 50hz? I can't even remember if Pal PS1 games were all at 50hz. It's been a while since I've played a PS1.

Nah, I think for $4 I can waive the insta-payment requirement If you can pick it up, then your more than welcome to pay on collection

Yep I'll do an install if needs be. Priced roughly between €15/20 max, I won't know until I've done one and see what's involved.

Anyone able to tell me what the picture and sound is like from the slim ps1 consoles compared to big ones? Still good or is it noticably worse?

I am indeed, I havn't forgotten everyone, sorry about the delay. I'm a bit swamped with stuff currently, but I hope to be sending the order by the end of the week. I'll do a round up of the quantity before I send it.

Rest assured, I'll never, ever be ordering PS2 chips. Out of the three I tried to chip, I killed two of them, & was successful with one. The motherboards are coated with epoxy which makes soldering very tough, & the points are incredibly small. To be blunt, they're b@stards to fit (unless it's a solderless type, which arn't great at all). Soft-modding is the way to go with PS2's
