Good man. I previously raised the issue with the John McDonald MD Richer Sounds and more importantly the Phillips Shop Dame Street directly via PM.

If you have more contact with Phillips you might mention that the MHEG5 engine is actually on board for UK profile, but turned off in favour of MHP for Irish setup option. MHP is another which is used on the continent and is useless here. MHEG5 just needs to be enabled in Irish firmware. It is a simple fix and would enable the Phillips H range to be compliant with Saorview as MHEG5 is a basic requirement per specs first published in Feb 2008. Perhaps it might be worth mentioning that LG Samsung and Sony have managed to allow open use of MHEG5 by default in Irish country profile.

This mess can be cleaned up very quickly.

There is previous discussion thread set up on this already: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056123899
If Marc wants to move these Phillips related posts.

Should all owners of sets raise the issue directly with Philips? I had 4 support cases open last year, 2 for each of my sets, but got nowhere with them.

The logical channel numbers (LCN) are defined in the NIT independently of the country. If the software developer decided to accept radio channel in UK mode only in the 7xx range where they have to be in the UK, the software ignore the irish radio channels in the 2xx LCN range.

Noticed this as well on my 9664,

Rescaned as UK to get the MHEG5 text but lost the radio stations as a result.

yep....radio stations back here as well without a retune/scan.
Still curious as to what changed.

Interesting that all DTT radio channels are back without rescan. Would also be interested to know the technical reason for this.

mickeyboymel, in another thread, suggests they came back when the RTE2 Temp channel returned from testcard status.

So, unless RTENL were working on something while the Temp channel was just a testcard... or just coincidence...?

The Temp Channel went to test card at 13.45 or thereabouts. At that stage I flicked through and definitely no radio.

I left the card on screen all afternoon as I was doing other things but when I noticed programmes had returned, I flicked through again and this time hey presto Radio was all there.

I cant say when they reappeared, as I never scanned through at any stage in the afternoon, just immediately after the normal transmissions resumed!

Coincident or not, I don't know.....it might be interesting for someone who has the capability to do a full stream scan again now that they are back and compare with the ones taken while they were off?

Guys,

just an (unofficial) confirmation - The issue with Philips TV's with an MPEG4 decoder whereby they could not load radio stations on the new digital platform is now resolved.

I understand RTE, working with Philips have resolved this and as of the 15th February if Philips 'H' series owners rescan TV's they should be able to receive radio services.

Thanks to all for their efforts,

John Mc & Crew

I checked an XML version of RTENL stream data I had from December against one I extracted today. As far as I can see, RTENL did two things with the data. The RTE Two "Temporary" channel gained an extra space in the name - now "Temporary " and there was a change in the linking of the Videotext stream. The original setting for "Temporary" was pointing at the 888 (subtitle) data stream associated with the RTE Two main (HD) channel. The current setting has the Videotext stream for "Temporary " pointed at the default page 100 on RTE One (not Two). See attached XML data:

Fat-Tony the Tv data grabs are not like for like (one is RTE1 the other RTE2).

Have a look at this post and see what the diifference is - all are extratcted from your 23/12 tetxt files.

Actually - they are both extracted from the RTE 2 Temporary channel;)
The change is that the Videotext pointer now has the RTE 1 Teletext stream "1301" coded into it. Originally (23/12) it had "1302" - RTE 2 Teletext stream ID.

When I scan the multiplex the only change highlighted in DVBviewer is the TPID change from 1302 to 1301 for the RTE 2 Temporary channel.

I have looked again at the NIT and I can't see any difference between current and previous apart from the name change on the SD version of RTE Two from "Temporary" to "Temporary ". Can you spot some other change?

They last service entry in the SDT before the radio entries...
[BEFORE]

Service_id: 1107 (0x0453)  [=  --> refers to PMT program_number]
reserved_1: 63 (0x3f)
EIT_schedule_flag: 1 (0x01)
EIT_present_following_flag: 1 (0x01)
Running_status: 4 (0x04) [= running]
Free_CA_mode: 0 (0x00) [= unscrambled]
Descriptors_loop_length: 22 (0x0016)

DVB-DescriptorTag: 72 (0x48) [= service_descriptor]
descriptor_length: 20 (0x14)
service_type: 22 (0x16) [= advanced codec SD digital television service]
service_provider_name_length: 6 (0x06)
service_provider_name: "RTÉNL" -- Charset: Latin alphabet no. 5
service_name_length: 10 (0x0a)
Service_name: "Temporary" -- Charset: Latin alphabet no. 5

[AFTER]

Service_id: 1107 (0x0453)  [=  --> refers to PMT program_number]
reserved_1: 63 (0x3f)
EIT_schedule_flag: 1 (0x01)
EIT_present_following_flag: 1 (0x01)
Running_status: 4 (0x04) [= running]
Free_CA_mode: 0 (0x00) [= unscrambled]
Descriptors_loop_length: 22 (0x0016)

DVB-DescriptorTag: 72 (0x48) [= service_descriptor]
descriptor_length: 20 (0x14)
service_type: 22 (0x16) [= advanced codec SD digital television service]
service_provider_name_length: 6 (0x06)
service_provider_name: "RTÉNL" -- Charset: Latin alphabet no. 5
service_name_length: 11 (0x0b)
Service_name: "Temporary " -- Charset: Latin alphabet no. 5

It looks like "Descriptors_loop_length" was incorrect and the extra space fixed it.

Windoze media centre saw the change as a new channel, deleted the existing entry and added "Temporary " as a new listing.

Yes I saw the ID first so as you say that is just a pointer to the same carousel.

@John1000: Cant see any changes in the Descr Loop length. There is a 1 strcoke change in the service_name_length
