Not as wet as predicted but a miserable day for May.

You must be having it handy. It's now 14 hrs straight rain here.

Not handy, last night was cold, wet, and windy. Today just wasn't as bad as forecast, the road was dry a lot of the day. We get our share of rain in the year.

Serious night rain here in Salthill, relentless and heavy.

Has cleared now, overcast and a shower wouldn't be too far off at any stage by looking at it.

Stopped here the last few hours but there's water lying where I've never seen it before. There's a garden of spuds up the road from me and you can just see the tops of the ridges in a few spots.

Sorry, I'm not a farmer but am browsing this forum and find some of the science behind farming very interesting, such as why a cow yields less milk in rain?

I was also reading the other thread about grass growth and how you guys manage the cutting, grazing, etc. Very interesting and something I hadn't realised before.

It's serious business, not all sitting waiting for a cheque in the post like some would say.

We're in a rut now for the next few week's, a wet day following a dry day, ground will be very wet by the end of it unfortunately clashing with silage time.
Be prepared for that and be ready to pounce on those dryer interludes.

Not being smart but milk yields dropped with my cows because they don't like getting wet and stand about calling to be left into the shed (when they should be grazing!).
