    Just about to head to
    Horizon
and I have a full green bar of readiness. Military is 6000 and something while effective strength is 3000 and something. Not one MP game played yet, I have every side quest done and every planet 100% scanned but guess I should do some MP after
    horizon
    just to be sure.

You don't need to if you dont want to. You can max your EMS fairly handily even with 50% readiness. I would suggest doing a few for fun as it's pretty good. But you don't have to. 4k EMS is the max and most players have this by the end if they don't skip stuff.

Just a pity that you had to fake the shot to have it happen (at least I assume so). Garrus was always a great sniper. Why is an adept or vanguard Shepard that great a marksman?

    Coz he's shepard :).

I agree though. Adept and Vanguard shep shouldn't have the "miss on purpose" option. You should automatically try to hit it.....and miss. It wouldn't have taken long to programme and would've been more authentic. The other 3 classes can have the option to hit or miss coz they have sniper experience.

Ya, one part of me said he would respect me more if I hit it but glad I 'missed' as he was beaming with himself.

Did anyone use the L1 Paragon interrupt anytime talking to Cortez? Only time I didn't use it as I was afraid Shep would start shifting him.

Anyone else hear anything at all about bioware releasing a character import patch? Anything at all? Please, someone give me some hope. I tried starting the game the other night and attempted to make a character similar to my old shepard but it just didn't sit right and I couldn't continue. It was like watching an unknown actor pretending to be Pierce Brosnan playing James bond. I was too distracted by his face to notice what was actually going on.

I deliberately missed because I remembered in the Shadow Broker files on him it said that Garrus would never reach his full potential while in Shepard's shadow. I felt that letting him win would help him grow more. Hell, knowing Mass Effect, not letting him get the shot might have killed him in a cutscene an hour later!

I hit it because I assumed he would be good enough to spot it and I'd get a ticking off from him if I deliberately missed. To me missing on purpose is the ****ty thing to do.

I played Silver vs. Reapers on Saturday with a guy that I'd normally play with and whoever else joined. Got lucky four times in a row, and managed to beat them each time! I was taken aback, as I've never won that many silver rounds before in a day, never mind in a row!

I used to use my Lvl. 20 Salarian infiltrator with an M-98 Widow. If you've got a good power set up for Tactical Cloak and weapon damage, that gun can do a hell of a lot of damage. It took a quarter of a brute's health off with a single shot! However, I promoted him as a war asset for some strange reason.... >.<

Not been reading through this thread, avoiding spoilers, but wanted to ask what the DLC situation like?

Does the game take the piss with it, is there stuff or missions locked out due to DLC? Don't want to buy it and realise that it's a DLC bonanza.

One DLC mission pack out so far. 10 euro on PSN or free with collectors edition. It's about a certain race of alien and gives you their background with a new weapon. It has 2 trophies as well. I thought it was alright. It's a very controversial subject though, about 30 minutes in length, definitely not worth the tenner but there you go.

The only DLC there's been so far is From the Ashes, and that one didn't really effect the game in any way. Sure, it seems like it will add something big to the game, considering (DLC: )
the character you get is a damn Prothean
, but he just says some cool things really. You'd only get anything from it if you're into the game's background, with Prothean history and the like.

I've heard rumours of free DLC coming out next month, and they say it'll have more to do with early game development than endgame development, but nothing game changing I'd say, unless it really is the endgame DLC that a lot of people are hoping for.

Free DLC is always welcome as long as it's not more Citadel fetch quests. I'm on the last few levels so not cleared yet but I heard about possible DLC to change the ending alright, sounds mental.

I'd say it'd be like previous game DLC, go to some system, do a mission and find X new character. I'd welcome anything that rivals 'Lair of the Shadow Broker' in terms of quality, that mission was fantastic.

You'll understand when you get to the end I'd say. I did enjoy it, if you take it as starting from the beginning of the final mission, but I understand the gripes that people have with it, it's quite confusing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,770 ✭✭✭danthefan

depends on class, if you've a rank 10 weapon, thats X and tend to shoot a lot.. then yeah, go for it. But if you're relying totally on biotics or cooldown powers, make sure you max out as much as you can before you try silver.

TLDR: get a good gun and max out your damage powers.

Also: higher ranked weapons weigh less and do more damage. You only need one gun. Unequip the other one for a bump to your cooldowns :)

Do you just get guns from buying the different packs? I bought a Spectre pack there but it still only have lv 1 weapons in it.

It's totally random. You get 1 rare item in the Spectre pack, and 1 uncommon item in the Veteran pack. There can be weapons (including upgrades to already obtained weapons) or characters.

Did anyone get their item for clearing the Silver Reaper mission? Nothing for me yet anyway.

    I haven't gotten anything either.

I got this as a gift, never played the first two. worth holding on to or should I return it?

It's a fantastic game, you should probably give it a go. You might not get the best ending, and some of the choices from the other two games are made for you, but it's still one of those series of games that you have to play, no matter what game you start with. If you end up enjoying it, you could easily find the other two for under €15 I'd say.

I don't have 100% but yes this is also happening to me, it's been flashing away for a while.

It's probably a Citadel mission, go to the Citadel, look at the map of each level and see if there's anyone other than your squad mates to talk to.

Nah, have everyone Citadel mission done, looked at a checklist, must be a glitch. At least it's not just me.

Can anyone confirm whether you need 4k or 5k war assets for the "good" ending please? Considering I haven't seen any endings yet, please no spoilers.

Between 4k and 5k for the "best" possible ending outcome i think, mine was 4 thousand and something and apparently my ending was the best outcome available...apparently:rolleyes:

Fair enough. My effective strength is 4696, should do the trick so.

We'll get our Victory and Commendation packs at midnight tonight.
    Pc Gamer wrote:
The weekend saw Mass Effect 3 multiplayer players embark on a mission to kill as many Reapers as possible. The hulking Turian/Krogan hybrid creatures, the Brutes, were the main targets, but last week Bioware also promised rewards to any team that successfully survived all Reaper waves and reached extraction on Silver difficulty and above.

A post on the Bioware blog says that players have emerged VICTORIOUS from a weekend of blasting Brutes and desperately backing away from the hideous Reaper Banshees shouting “nonononono.” “The community goal of killing one million brutes was beaten handily by participants,” say Bioware. “Through your combined efforts, over THREE MILLION brutes were destroyed!” Yaaay.

Now all that remains is for us to reap our rewards. Participants will receive a Victory Pack, and those who survived the entire Reaper wave on silver will receive a Commendation Pack. Each Commendation Pack contains “a random N7 Arsenal weapon,” these heavy duty firearms are currently only available in single player to owners of the N7 Collector’s Edition. There’s no other way to get them in multiplayer.

The contents of the Victory Packs, meanwhile, remain a mystery. They’ll all be dished out later today at 5pm PST / midnight UK time. A few of us banded together over the weekend to push back the Reaper menace. It was a tense and fraught affair, but bloody good fun. Bioware say “we’ll be announcing additional challenges in the days to come.” Bring it on, we say. Bring it on.

Did you take on Operation Goliath this weekend? How are you finding Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer?

It depends on the outcome of a cutscene near the very end. If you use a Renegade interrupt to save a certain character from death then it is 4k, otherwise it is 5k. This moment should be obvious and anyone that doesn't take that opportunity is silly.

Also it is effective military strength, not total war assets.

Sorry lads, just to clear up, I'm now heading to point of no return
    cerberus hq
, I have 6719 Total Military Strength, 50% readiness rating (no MP played) and 3359 Effective Military Strength (full green bar). Do I need 4K+ effective military strength for the best ending?
