Can't believe people are risking getting their accounts closed, having debt collectors sent after them and most importantly having their credit rating damaged all for a few lousy euro!

    madness.

€700 for a criminal record of fraud more like. Are you seriously telling thieves "fair play"? There's nothing fair about thievery.

Fair play indeed - They are creating anarchy and standing up to the the banks and goverment - They have nothing to lose (which itself is a scary reflection of the times) and who cares really - I don't always pay the right fair on the bus and i jump on the luas and not pay most of the time - as the previous poster said "we're all on the take some how" so theres no point kicking up a fuss about this blue collared crime - and as for the tax payer picking it up the tab - well the tabs so big at this stage a few extra peanuts isn't going to affect anything!

You have no right to complain about us being raped by the banks and government - you sound like exactly that same type of person on a petty scale. People like you ARE the problem - it's when people like you get to the top that we all suffer big time.

I was about to make a point, but for the life of me I just can't seem to remember I quoted these two posts in particular.

Thing is, everyone isn't on the take, just as everyone isn't to blame for the mess we are in.

It may seem like everybody is, but that is the ould conscience gnawing at you! ;)

Ah well of course not everybody is on the take. Sure of course we have to have a couple of million gob****es to bankroll the whole thing. Sean Fitzpatricks trips to Marbella or Whacker from Inchicores' new 50" HDTV arent going to pay for themselves now, are they?

we're not all on the take actually, and even if we were it doesn't justify anything that you do,how naive to think this won't affect anything!
it's this type of mentality (albeit on a bigger scale) that landed us in this **** in the first place!

As am I, a few thousand euro isn't going to affect the 3 billion BOI has already lost

which makes it dearer for the likes of me who rely on cheap public transport, how considerate of you!

I rely on it too but sometimes can't afford it, and by me paying, all that is happening is VEOLIA getting an extra 2.30e

You complain about crooks, then you tell us that you do crooked stuff. You need to have a long look in the mirror and decide which side you are on.

And if everyone thought like that? I mean if it's ok for you then I assume you believe it's ok for us all to do the same? So that €2.30 is suddenly thousands and then millions not being paid.

The mind boggles, it really does!

You guys are missing the big picture - a few thousand people stealing a few thousand euro is not the problem - a few people lawfully taking a few billion euro is.

'Steo' who didn't bother working during the boom years and now get 196e a week or Mary who has four kids and get rent allowance arent the problem - It's the banks and elite class who's taking your hard earned euro

so you do understand that these people who dont pay are taking your money then? Because the bank will just make up for it in fees? After of course, chasing everyone in court who no longer has an account.

And I do pay for public transport - I've decided that my tax goes towards public transport and not the bailout!

“At a late night dinner party, so the story goes, an inebriated Churchill asked an attractive woman whether she would sleep with him for a million pounds.

    “Perhaps,” the woman said coyly.

“Would you sleep with me for one pound?” Churchill then asked.

“Of course not, what kind of woman do you take me for?” the woman responded indignantly.

“Madam, we’ve already established what kind of woman you are,” said Churchill, “now we’re just negotiating the price.”

One Euro or a Million,it's still theft

There is always somebody taking my money anyway and at this stage I don't care, I'm getting taxed, paying charges and interest rates and I can't do anything about it so I'm not even bothering complaining about it at this stage.

It's crookedness from the top to the bottom of our society. You've already told us that you do crooked stuff, I just hope you never have the authority to screw people out of more than a couple of euro at a time.

Horrible thing to wish for somebody that can't always afford bus fare -
Have you never done a nixer or not paid for something in full?

I've never done a nixer. A couple of times in my life I haven't paid for stuff and I felt pretty bad about it afterwards. I'm not a saint, but I know what I should and should do and try to stick to the right thing as much as possible.

You took out an overdraft last-night. That's a loan.

You took a couple of grand?!

Seriously man, I just got a hat off ASOS for like 11 euro and I am getting paid tomorrow. I'm sorry but thats just wrong. Stop playing victim by blaming the banks/government. Even if they were in the wrong with certain situations (this not being one connected to any of them), two wrongs never make a right.

They are going to hound you for this money, it is not yours to take. This is outrageous, your worse than ministers and expenses.

This thread is a veritable monument to the corrupt thinking that pervades Irish society.

Far too many people in this country do not understand the difference between right and wrong.

Which is why we have people doing the following:

Shoplifting: Ah sure it is just one bar of chocolate, the shopkeeper can afford it.

Stealing at work: The boss won't miss €50

Not paying fares: I pay enough taxes

    and so on...

Then these people complain about our leaders and other people in positions of authority who are corrupt and wonder why these people thought it was ok to misappropriate millions of euro and manipulate expenses for their own game.

One group is no better than the other, they are a blight on society.

Right I can see you didnt read 90% of what i wrote so I'll fill you in and not give you a hard time over it - I didnt take any money out of the ATM (actually i took 20e to buy coffee and a lunch)

My crime is not throwing the right change in the bus thing - and more often than not i jump on the luas 3-4 stops and not pay at all, you know lock me up and throw away the key type of crime.

My point was fair play to the guys who took money out and arent gonna pay it back - I know I'll have to somehow and i know the people dong it will face consequence
