Yeah it made a huge difference to my temps. Will be interesting to see what happens on Monday and if the temps will rise much in sunshine.

    Poss above freeezing in Cabinteely.

-8.4 in Killygordan now, Donegal now colder than the midlands and south east which is extremely rare in this weather.

This morning 29th Nov, I'm one mile from sea.
2nd lowest air temp in my 11 year record.
    -6.6C, only 8th Jan 2010 with -7.0C was lower.
It wasn't a even drop either,
    -3.5C at midnight,
    -5.5C at 1.30,
-2.6C at 3.30 before falling to
    -6.6C at 5.30

Grass min of -12.3C is lowest in my 9 year record, 0.1C lower than 5th Mar 2010.

To put the air temp in perspective, the lowest air temp I've recorded in Dec is -4.6C.

I have asked this before but memory fails me ,
when met eireann say todays highs of x-x, is this air tempertures?

Where do u get the link for killygordan?
Donegal isnt represented properly on temperture watch, malin head and finner camp are on opposite ends of the county, therefore our offical tempertures are actually a lot warmer than the rest of the county, Im sure some of valleys and other locations could challenge the rest of the country for cold records if met eireann had stations in the right locations.

    Yes :)
To add, they may not cover the full extremes. Some extreme coastal spots may see slightly higher or some inland spots may see lower maxes, but the range given should cover most of us.

Yeah true, Malin is always warm and Finner is near the coast, the centre of the county would always be a few degrees colder than both stations

I just use the IWN site

    www.irelandsweather.com

I disagree a little with you about that
    Donegal is a big county.
I live around 40 mins from Finner camp and its a total different ball game here with regards to weather, they dont get as much snow as me and Im pretty sure the temperture range in finner camp does not cover me.
Malin and Finner camp tempertures would be nowhere near the likes of Glenties tempertures for example.

Very cold here today, still -4.7c would say the coldest day so far since last Jan. Reckon tonight could be a record breaker! -11.7c here last December, so im wondering if that may well go tonight?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭Pangea

-9.4 was my temperture this morning , theremometer was not in shelter though, not sure if this would effect the temperture or not?

Incredible temperature anomaly across the country for the last 7 days on the met eireann ag map:

    137543.gif

between -5c and -7c below normal over many parts of the country.

    Actual:
    137544.gif

7 day mean temp below freezing over many central and eastern areas!
