Can someone explain why being host is now a disadvantage? During all the talk of MW2, all I ever remember was people talking about host advantage, and how much easier the game is when you are host. When I host a BlOps game it's much easier for me. Has this changed with BlOps? Why would two yellow bars make you confident that you would have a k/d of 4? Genuinely confused here.

Being host is without a doubt a disadvantage in blops. At least for me, my frame rates drop massively when i host. Im not sure if its due to my connection not having a fast enough upload or whether its the same for everyone. In mw2 i could host fine as long as it wasnt groundwar, which again dropped my framerates to almost unplayable levels. I think this might be the main issue with blops for everyone

The hosts connection is not good enough to handle the strain of being host. the hosts PS3 either crashes or gets kicked without enough time being had for a host migration to take place.. everyone in the lobby gets the cannot connect to host ****e.

What i have noticed on the cod site (and you are right that thing always crashes) is that since the patch the US guys are saying lag has improved but all the european guys, IRL, UK, Germany, Holland and sweden are all seeing worse issue..

If this is actually true, which I'm not sure about, then we're screwed. Royal style! If they have gotten the US market sorted, the chances of them spending time on the EU market is slim enough I reckon.

Sorry my bad should have posted there.

    No worries.

I wouldn't waste my time spamming the official COD forums btw. You'd be wasting your time. They really couldn't give a flying you know what about us IMO.

Had 2 games , but since then its a nightmare trying to get into a game and usually the host either freezes or turns off the system.

    Thanks.

Hosting (PS3) seems to work ok for me on BlOps. I was almost never host on MW2, but host a few times on BlOps. My friend, who lives on the same island as me, is often host too and when he is, we dominate. Which is nice, but it's kind of a hollow victory when you're two seconds ahead of everyone else.

Right at the start press select to bring up the scoreboard. There will normally be one person with 4 green bars and the rest with just one or two bars. As they connect to the host their bars will increase to 3 or 4 green bars.

You can also do this after a host migration has been completed.

Something needs to be done!! I can see people even getting an Xbox just to play Blops without any problems!! SONY should kick Treyarch up the arse, there costing them customers imo:eek:

    i have NAT 2 on my PS3

but on blops my NAT type is still MODERATE

    any1 know why?

NAT 2 is moderate AFAIK? NAT 1 is open

I've got NAT 2, always "open" on MW2. Changes between "open" & "moderate" on Black Ops from day to day

It's impossible to get a party into a game. But when I go into barebones it works a treat. :D

was taking me ages to get into games earlier. when i finally got in i played a good few games with no issues. when i tried to join another game again later it was again taking ages. usually getting the host migration message, then game lobby closed.

    on the ps3 btw

Did they fix the issue with a mic not showing when people had theirs on, and not necessarily speaking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

They did, but now the majority of the time you can't mute people in the lobby.

This does my head in. When I select any of the players in the lobby the mute option doesn't appear. Then, a few minutes later, if I de-select and select again, it appears. Wtf is going on with that?

And at times when you select a player and then hit B to back out you are brought into your friends list.... i truelly do at times wonder how they test this stuff..

This friends list popping up every time i tried to mute somebody just started happening to me since last night! all these small things are starting to mount up and really P1SS me off now, over a month since its release and none of the issues seem to have been fixed, i'm still losing connection, migrating hosts, spawning in the middle of firefights, lobby closing, scores disappearing, taking up to 15 mins to find a match, joining tdm games when one team has a score of about 7000 etc etc
    Btw I'm playing on PS3

seems like it sucks to have this on PS3, i feel for y'all

as far as the gameplay changes from an xbox perspective... I like the thinking behind most of them, not played enough to really assess stuff like the "subtle adjustments" to the knifing etc.
i hope the fact that there weren't more gameplay tweaks is more to do with them finishing what they could for the christmas rush, and not because they thought these were the only issues that needed fixing.

i keep seeing the lobby scroller telling me "notes on what we're working on are in the callofduty.com forums" but I wasn't able to find anything there any time I checked - no official thread, nothing in the faq/support sections.
are they actually talking anywhere about what they're working on before patches are released?
