That can be part of it, but it can also be as simple as wanting to shag different women for the novelty and because it's fun(novelty is a lot of it I'd say). No "issues" required.

That's not necessarily a womaniser. That is just a slut.

No it's a man who wishes to have to have sex with lots of women. What's wrong with that?? People are entitled to have as little or as much sex with whomever they want, regardless of whether they're male or female without peopel using names like slut. Using the word slut against either a man or a woman is quite offensive. For someones who has complained about the same thing directed against women in other threads it's a bit unfair.

I like the word slut. Get a grip.

    A slut makes themselves available.

A womaniser is a strategist [or thinks he is anyway].

The difference was pointed out to me on this thread.

Promiscuity or polyamory comes about for numerous reasons. Some are psychological, and may involve anything from a wish to have varied sex to a compulsive habit. Some are practical; for example, some people don't want to be in a monogamous relationship or can't be, and so unless they choose celibacy they're going to end up having multiple sexual partners.

The label of 'slut' is a purely social one. People who are 'sluts' rarely think of themselves as such, only those who label them. Even our definition of 'slut' has changed over the years, a century ago a woman who had slept with anyone other than her husband was labeled as such, nowadays it would be rare to consider a woman a slut unless her sexual history ran into the dozens.

Indeed, you'll find people on PI who suddenly worry if they are 'sluts' simply because they've had a single one-night-stand, while those who sleep around on a regular basis don't even think about it. Sexual guilt is probably the defining quality of 'sluts' as a result.

Even the term 'womanizer' is a nebulous one. Many of the 'womanizers' cited here are little more than rapists. Berlusconi may have slept with many women, but given that many of these are escorts, is he really a 'womanizer'? A male swinger could be termed a 'womanizer' too, because he will have many female partners, but is he really? Is a guy who gets drunk on the weekend and picks up a random one-night-stand from one of the 'cattle market' clubs the same as one who specifically peruses and seduces a select number of women?

Everyone has their issues, their kinks, their hangups, their motivations. Be they promiscuous or not. Be they 'sluts' or 'prudes'. Generalizing and slapping labels on them does not work.

No I don't think I should have to 'get a grip'. Just because I don't agree wtih your choice of words doesn't give you a right to attack me. Grow up.

Womanizing is a feat that can only truly qualify as womanizing without Dutch courage or cash.

There is little or no difficulty for any women to get a woman unless she falls below 3-4 on the 1-10 babe scale.:D
A woman who is a 6 or over will have no trouble getting guys if she dresses in stylish sexy clothes, a little make up and has a nice hair style.
A women who is a 10 or 11.5 on the babe scale will meet more men in one year than any man will meet in her entire life. She will get sexual proposals the moment she walks out her front door.

It is different for a man who looks like Peter Sellers.

    285170.jpg

He looks completely ordinary but incredibly was an accomplished womanizer who bedded beautiful movie starlets, countesses, models and princesses.
He only had his charm, his sophisticated wit, his intelligence and most importantly a gigantic pair of balls.
If he kept his mouth shut it would never happened and a hunk with a square jaw, perfect biceps and abs would have just clicked his fingers and taken them all away from him.

Women are intrigued by men who do not appear to have the right to get in their knickers who none the less have an irresistable sexual magnetism and find themselves helplessly falling for them. A true womanizer is a man who is able to approach a woman he has never met who greets him with initial coldness and within seconds get her heart thumping with passion. He can walk her right out of the club or bar and take her straight to his bed.

A man's sexual attractiveness ultimately has nothing to do with looks, a great body or a large sexual organ although these can be a help - it is fundamentally about an attitude called - GANGSTA!!!!

But Seller's was very famous. Not really much of a feat for a movie star to get a woman into bed is it?Same goes for most of the men mentioned in this thread. Most have or had fame or money or both.Ducks in a barrell tbh.

Back in the 60s we had a guy who used to go down to the bus station every day to see who was getting off... Mostly rural girls comming to the town looking for work.. He had a good record with them..After a few weeks though they realised what a "sham" he was.. He used to wear a red shirt with a white tie. probably looked swish to an innocent country girl..

Most men with money and power and fame still can't get women to really want them - they still have to beg or bribe to get sex while the men who work for them who mow their lawns, clean their pools, delivery their pizzas, drive their limos and wait on them, can often get more women.
Fame, money and power increases a man's chances but if the man is shy, insecure and frightened of women, they won't work no more than a well-worn chat up line will work for a blue-collar worker.
Women are fundamentally emotional creatures - a wealthy and powerful man could treat her like a princess, buy her all the pearls and gold and furs and perfumes money can buy, he could command handmaidens to bathe her in milk and that she be borne on a golden throne by galley slaves but if he cannot stir her heart, he could lose her to a lowly ragged peasant who sings a lusty love song on his guitar below her balcony window and rides off with her into the sunset on his donkey.
It's not the money or the power or even the sex that wins a woman's heart for a man - it is the emotions that they create - security, safety and comfort and sexual excitement.
If a man with only the shirt on his back can charm a woman he could steal her from the richest man.
All the men mentioned in this thread frustrated the high and mighty by bedding beautiful women using a mysterious power, a magic force that the great and good could not understand and which enraged them.
These men are pursued by women and often have to flee for their lives. The risk everything to sweep women off their feet.
Casanova himself was thrown in prison and made a daring escape, he fled from country to country bedding woman after woman after woman with paid assassins on his heel sent by jealous men who sought his head.

Sellers also completly invented Walter Mitty style a relationship with Sophia Lauren.

What amazes me is that red headed hobbit from Simply Red. How?

I had a friend in HS who bedded 75 women by the time he was 16 [at it since he was 12 so maybe thats not that big a number]. He wasn't that great looking, had no money, barely an education, and no power whatsoever, but he made the most of himself and he believed his own mythology and it worked.

I find women think this way far, far more than men interestingly enough. This is just anecdotely speaking, I don't have research to back it up. In my life I find other women are far quicker to label other women sluts, emotionally unstable, (insert whatever nasty name you want) than men are. Often these are the same women who go and sleep with a womaniser or 'player. while criticising a woman who has lots of sex. The double standards some women impose on themselves are incredible. As I said this seems a lot more common with women than men.'Likewise I don't find many men automatically think a man whoose slept with 100 women is automatically someone to be in awe of.

A much better way of describing it than 'slut' really.

This is rubbish. I've never heard a woman call a woman slut, and I've heard plenty of men call a women slut.

Double standards women impose on themselves? Ha are you serious? Men are CRAZY for imposing double standards on women.

Scenario for a woman: you've met a man and he is really really pushing, persuading you and cajoling you into sleeping with him. But if you do you're ultimately wrong and you're a slut. And don't say this isn't true, I've heard it from countless women. It's like they will really really pressure you into sleeping with them but wait! They don't mean what they say! what they actually want is for you to resist them. Women will understand what Im on about.

It's like walking a f*cking tightrope sometimes and it can be a f*cking nightmare being a woman.

You make it sound like womanisers use women to get back and subvert other men, like its some revenge on the establishment.

Naw this is standard PUA stuff. "No matter who much of an ugly, socially abhorrent and poor munter you are, you can get that woman away from the rich good looking man, with the help of our once in a lifetime course for the all in price of 999.99..."

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I get what your saying but maybe its more about competition with other men? So its more about men than women underneath it all. Women are just the pawns in the game?

Just a question for thought. Not laying it down as a reason.

I'm completely disagreeing with you. I stand by what I say, I've heard far more women than men hear this term. Perhaps you move in very different circles to me, fair enough, but it doesn't make my experiences rubbish. I just don't agree with you.

The double standard of slut presupposes that women are the discriminators and a woman who sleeps around passively allows this to happen without any discrimination.
