anyone remember the program 'check-up' that was on in the late 80's and early 90's? no, i didn't have ebola or anything...

my family were watching it one night and my dad was particularly touched by a piece on a young fella who was just about to go to the UK for a heart and lung transplant. he said that when he got better all he wanted to do was get a bicycle so he could ride around like the other kids on his street. my dad sold bicycles on the side so he got in contact with a friend of his in RTE who contacted the family and my dad, my brother and i went up to his gaff and gave him a bike when he returned from the successful operation. he was delighted. my dad flies aeroplanes as a hobby and when there he invited him to go for a spin in the plane - he accepted and the 'check-up' crew and the young fella and his family came down and went for a joyride. i was introduced on TV and had a bit of a conversation with the chap on how much he enjoyed it - i was about 12 y/o.

the sad thing is that lad died about a year or 2 later. i hope he got a chance to cycle around with his mates - as seems to be the case with people facing such massive problems he was a really bubbly, positive chap. i think of his family sometimes and hope they are well.

Does being in the crowd at a match count, if the camera pans over where you're sitting?

Our class won a Youngline anti-smoking competition years ago, half of us were just starting to smoke at the time.

"Nicotine is not our scene" - that's the sh1te that won it.

I was interviewed for Nationwide about a year ago, they asked for my opinions on immigration into Ireland and did I think we should be stricter on who/how many we let into the country.

A friend was filming Take Me Out a few weeks ago in The Helix; had to go to support him :) Some of the women on that show were downright cruel at times!

Not sure if it ever got aired but I got approached in the street once and asked to put on a wig like this. And then talk about what I thought about myself with that hairstyle.

When I was 14 or 15 I cheerleaded at a basket ball match in Neptune Stadium in Cork. It was shown on some local channel. Think I got twenty quid for it.

That phrase has won every anti smoking project competition ever.

My friends and I were on the Discovery Channel. We we're sitting outside a pub on a bench drinking and having a laugh while a TV crew across the street filmed some show about fishing towns of Europe. We heard about it a few months later when the show aired. Never saw it myself though. Hope we weren't too pissed. It was a "Sunday after the Saturday before" session and we all know what they're like.

I haven't been on the TV, but I did design a poster that was used in a Channel 4 mini-series when I was in TY.

    attachment.php?attachmentid=134235&stc=1&d=1289303820

It was called Jake's Progress. As part of the show, there was a play being put on in town and I was asked to do the design for it:D

If you can read this, you're too close!

When in California as a baby I was in a Huggies commercial.

Still have the payslip and everything.

Think that's as far as my fame goes, may have been on local TV for some of my mom's art stuff or from a fair or something but local TV doesn't count.

I've not been on the tv unless I've inadvertently been in the background of some news report or the paddy's day parade. Have been on the radio though (Newstalk). Not sure if that's good or bad :pac:

I was on the Den for my birthday as a child.

    Then TV3 for a street census of Iris Robinson's extra-marital activities:D.

And the Frontline last night. (Thankfully no one really watches that though!)
Were you speaking? Which tool were you?

I was interviewed by RTE2 News about the popularity of Red Bull amongst students. The fact that I had about 8 of them with vodka in the UCD student bar prior to being asked that day made for compelling television.

I was seated behind two empty seats in croke park one Sunday and two odd lookin chaps were escorted there by a camera crew, and they had to fein interest in the game and point at stuff etc...
It was the Icelandic Eurovision entry that year, and me and my big luminous green winter jacket were on the Eurovision during icelands link before they performed.
****ers had no interest Wicklow football at all...

You can see me at the Bernard Dune fight where he was knocked out in the first round by that Spanish lad. As the Spanish lad is on the way in I can be seen. The camera was pointing right at me as Bernard was leaving the ring in a cloud of shame but I don't think it made the cut.

Yes. An RTE kids show called TX on a Saturday morning...'Smu'd me. It was just before my tenth birthday, and basically two presenters would come to your house and 'have a party'.

They were Biance Lukyx and...Peter...someone. I can't rememebr his surname. They came to my house, my parents fooled me by getting me up early to 'go to town', and all my friends were invited. I was on RTE smashing garden gnomes with a hammer to win prizes.

    It was a great day.
