    hey all

did some pricing with Black Ops with retailers (Xbox and PS3)
    (bricks and mortar only)

    Smyths - 54.99
    Xtra-Vision - between 49.99 and 54.99
    HMV - between 45 and 49 euro UPDATED - €52.99
Game - no confirmed price, he reckoned 54.99
    Gamestop - 54.99
Harvey Norman - unconfirmed €44.00 (this is now definite, advertising to go out on it this weekend apparently)
Tesco - only rumors so far, 40.00, but wont have it on launch (UK pricing in the UK is £39.90, so i cant imagine a €40 price, maybe €44-€48, still no information on stock on release date)

if anyone has anything to add or update feel free to

Its between Harvey Normans and Tescos at the moment i reckon

Any reason why Tesco won't have it on launch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭CR 7

    Viking Direct- €41.99

€5 delivery though, but I ordered it earlier on this week with 30% off, and I'm not too worried about not getting it on release day. Best price I found.

has it been confirmed tesco wont have it on launch day?

they had fifa 11 for 40e on lanch day so hopefully they`ll have black ops for 40e.

The thing about tesco is that it varies by store, some will have loads of copies, some will have none, some will have it on launch, some wont. You wont really know until the 9th what the story is. id expect a price war between the supermarkets in the UK over this so hopefully tesco here follow suit :)

Pre-ordered the 360 hardened edition in XV yesterday (no other b'n'm around for miles) and had to put a deposit of €5 on it.
On the receipt that the girl behind the counter gave me, it said outstanding balance of €118.45

I questioned her on it and she said that it was just some number that the system had in there to take pre-orders and that they had no idea of how the different versions were going to be priced yet, but it obviously wouldn't be that much.

Some shock to the system initially though.

I preordered the Hardened edition in GAME msyelf. They've always been rubbish when it comes to getting solid prices, so I've questioned two seperate stores.

The one in the Ilac Shopping Center just said roughly €70-€80. Liffey Valley's outlet actually checked their register but said there wasn't anything solid either, and quoted the same estimation.

In the GameStop catalog there is a picture of a few games and it says if you trade it in towards another new release game you get it for 15 euro and medal of honor was in that picture.

Tesco in Dub 14 and 24(friend asked there earlier) have both said the game is coming out on the 11th in all Tesco branches  and while yer wan behind the till was fairly unsure about the entire situation, she thinks the game will be 55 euro.

I really hope that's not the case, they had MW2 on release last year so it may just be that they looked at the American release date and got confused, still, better if I can get this confirmed before Monday so I don't waste a journey up there to get it...

I doubht Tesco will be on the ball with this one.

Harvey Norman looks like the best bet.

Tesco in Dundrum had it on release date last year. I had reserved a copy in 'Game' the Que was out to the front door of the shopping center. I got tired of waiting at midnight (nearly an hour!!!) and walked straight into Tesco they had two boxs full of the game.

Tesco are one of the larges retail companies in Ireland you can bet you ass they will be on the ball with this and have plenty of copies.

Dunno if its been mentioned here yet, but gamestop are giving 25% extra credit on games when you trade them in against Black Ops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,814 ✭✭✭Nemanja91

I just traded in Medal Of Honor in GameStop and got 35 euro so I only have to pay 20 euro, not too bad. Wasn't pushed about this game at first as MW2 was a big disappointment in my eyes but I'm getting a bit excited about it now. College is going to suffer though!

^ i was just in Game with my copy of Medal of Honor and Red Dead Redemption, 32euro credit or 25euro cash.

needless to say i walked out with the games still in my hand. crazy!

i rang tescos today and am waiting on a call back from a rep, but im not holding my breath. They dont seem to want to let anyone know any info on their pricing, including staff.

it is not only certain games?

I saw the sign in gamestop last weeknend
Im planning on trading in Halo Reach.
xtravison currently offering me 30 quid tradein,
    In Gamestop offereing 24 euro!
    24 euro + 6 euro (25%) = 30 euro!

Coidence or do game stop drop thier tradein prices to make it seem
like they are offering more when in reality its the same trade in they're offering as every where else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,906 ✭✭✭Joeface

Pre-ordered of Amazon for PC £35 / €39.99 , it appears to included free shipping .

    I'm happy with that .

Hi guys,I've posted this on playstation forum too, just a quick question, due to mis-communication/misunderstanding and stupidity, (not on my behalf), it appears that i don't have a copy of black ops reserved!!!!mad.gifmad.gif

Does anyone know of any stores that sell games on a first come first served basis or does every store take a reservation/waiting list type approach?

I'm looking for a store in Dundalk, Drogheda or Dublin.

Tesco - walk in and buy - be early though !
Most other retail outlets will have "off the shelf copies" aswell though I'd say.
Why not prebook it today ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,827 ✭✭✭AnneFrank

lots of stores will have them on the day,i havent pre booked either

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Didn't slip my mind I swear :o but I was in Xtra Vision earlier, the one where their head offices are near to in D24. Anyway your man behind the desk said he didn't know what the price would be on the game. Suffice to say I was a tad puzzled.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 122 ✭✭happymondays

oh ok, still begers the question, do they drop the inital tradein price to make up the 25% difference.

Also whats the advantage of pre booking? beside the obvious fact of gaurentteing getting a game on lauch day. Is there any extras being offered by any places that are only avaialble if you pre-book?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

After giving it more thought, I'm very anoyed about how the money making scam that is the DLC.
