Yeah I'd prefer to go with a better model or more well respected brand, it was the first 280x that was a decent price I've seen in a while. Might just hold off till the mining demand drops before getting a second card.

Oh wow prices went up since I've last checked.

Can ANYONE tell me how I get the package to UPS to return to hwvs, and if it's paid for by them? Their site is unclear, and there's no depots in my town. Can I arrange to meet a courier?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭robk24

You just print the return docket from the complaints section of HWVS.
Pack your box apply the printout, call UPS and they come and collect it.
    Fully paid for by HWVS.
If your going for a direct replacement of the faulty part they ship it back via DHL for some reason.

Edit just noticed your other post on the previous page,
If UPS can't collect it you have to bring it to their Finglas depot. That is what i did as didn't want to wait in all day for them to come.

Finglas is slightly far away. I'll leave it with a friend in that case, thanks for confirming that with me! Really didn't want to have to return it :(

Ugh, HWVD are at it again. Bought a PSU for €160. Decided shortly after I wanted a bigger one and cancelled the order. They confirmed the order was cancelled.

The following day I get an emailed saying my order was dispatched including a tracking number. Emailed them straight back and they advised it was now too late to cancel (even though they already confirmed cancellation) and that I was to refuse delivery.

Delivery arrived 4 days later (Friday), refused it and it was shipping back to them on Monday. They received it last Monday and refunded my today, €143! Emailed them again looking for the rest my refund, €16. they better not be trying to charge me for delivery.

Is sending an item back to HWVS an easy affair? They ignored my email which I sent to them regarding the matter, and since then I've reinstalled my 7770 and installed those drivers and it's working perfectly. Is there a high chance of them sending the same useless card back to me? Do I have to pay shipping?]

Ugh, I live in a rural area where I know UPS won't come. How do I give them the package to send back? I want it to be shipped to parcel motel, but obviously I can't send it FROM parcel motel.

You can send it from Parcel Motel.

Are you sure you can use ParcelMotel to return a parcel to Germany?

They won't cover it then, and I'm not paying to return it when it's not in perfect working order..

Would you not need planning permission to do a build with that?

Would a second hand, out of warranty, reference 680 be worth €200 thinking of picking one up until Maxwell comes out.

Selling 1440P monitor and gaming rig if anyone is interested!

Going down a different route with a new build!

That's not a bad price. The 680 is almost the same as the 770, just slightly weaker. It's much stronger than the 760. 760's go in the low 200's and 770's are in the high 200's or low 300's.

Wow, that's almost a brand-new build (at least the r9's are). Why are you changing so quickly?

I'm going down the mini-ITX build route with HTPC. Monitor is usually just sitting there as have desktop now hooked up to a 47 Inch TV. Usually use my laptop for everything else and just the desktop playing games. Allready have a second R9 290 for the new build so may as well let the whole lot go together and start afresh!

You really only need to sell the case, board, monitor and one of the 290's.

I'd be interested in buying one of the 290's and possibly the monitor if the price is right.

Just put Titanfall on to preload, 50 gig download. It's ridiculous, 35gigs of it is audio!

Dang, think my h100 pump just failed. Took the front cover off my case tidy a fan cable and the pump started making a whining noise. Restarted and same prob. Checked temps in RealTemp, CPU is idling at 100°C!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Yeah, sounds like a dead pump, sadly.

Yea, have an Express RMA in progress. Great service from Corsair, you give them CC details, they take a holding fee for €35 and ship the replacement in 1 working day. You get the defective item back to them in 15 working days and you get the €35 back, happy days!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Yup, EVGA do the same with their graphics cards (though the time frame is bigger). Really handy for those of us with watercooled cards. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 465 ✭✭raymix

Could that be manufacturing price? Since they don't know if you are lying about damaged product and could keep both that are working fine?
Never RMAed anything in my life (thankfully), but it's still interesting how do they know if complaint is legit?
Don't tell me there's same amount of "deposit" for an expensive high end GPU

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

God no, you need to pay the full price of the card. :P

I've had to RMA my second R9 290 lads
Same problem again.. so I'm officially done with AMD cards for a few years

Just got my refund approved so here we go again!...
I've narrowed the replacement down to a Gigabyte Windforce GHZ 780 or the Evga Superclocked ACX 780.

Both are the same price on amazon and I can't really choose :p any views or opinions lads?

What was wrong with it? Was it the Trix fan rattling problem?

    Sure was Gumbi.
Same issue again the second time. It was perfect for a couple days then over a weekend of gaming it decided to show itself. Only way to stop it was to go into the case and press the plastic casing of the gpu again.

Shocking tbh and disappointing as the card in general is fantastic
Just what seems to be shoddy work from the Sapphire end.

For the money I've spent sending it back for RMAs I'd nearly be at 780Ti prices :p

That sucks. Did you get in contact with Sapphire or Overrclockers about how to address it? If there was any fix? Too late now I suppose.
