Seeing as I am not a gamer, flawless sensor probably isn't very important for me.
Although I do want to get a good mouse. :)
Come to think of it, this mouse is very cheap on amazon, had tons of good reviews and would probably do the job for me.
Its probably blasphemy around here though

Very very similar to the mouse I have, I have one exactly like that (looks the same and has the same buttons) but its laser instead of optical. Picked it up in argos as I needed something cheap.

Just having a closer look at those gaming mouse mats, they are absolutely huge.
I seen in one review a person mentioned he has the keyboard sitting on top of the matt too, is that why its so big, so that it goes under the keyboard too?

It's so big because some FPS players like using low sensitivity to help with accurate aiming and thus need a large mousemat. There's absolutely no need for a large mat if you're not a gamer though.

    Opens Excel
    Checks package
    Move page in Excel
    Checks package
    Stares at package tracking page
    Refreshes
    Clicks random cell in Excel
    Checks package

    Repeat for six hours.

Lads is there an advantage of online gaming with a static ip address?

When you get IP banned there's nothing you can do about it.

    ...wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

Yeah, you don't have to re-forward ports if you get assigned a different IP. There's no real performance advantage or anything, it's just for convenience.

Static IP addresses make it easier if you're hosting servers - ie., port forwarding and for other people to find.

Lads thinking of going back to play world of warcraft (yes i am stupid) and was gonna put a new computer together. Just wondering could anyone recommend a graphics card - wow will be the only game I play so its just one that can handle that well, otherwise it'd just be general pc use. Thanks alot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

I think world of warcraft pretty much runs on integrated graphics at this stage. Demands aren't high given its age - apart from on your time and wallet - I think you'd want to be mad to be forking out subscriptions like that (even if you're playing it all day!) or even to consider something that's consumed the lives of so many people.

    What's the screen resolution?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭sosmyface

Yeah havent commited to going back yet, gonna have some free time in a few weeks and was thinking about playing for a month or so (wishful thinking:rolleyes:).
Would be getting a new monitor too, looking at other threads here maybe something along the lines of a benq 22"-24" (so would that be 1920x1080?).

In alot of the threads i've read here they are build for the latest games at high fps etc so its hard for me to guage (esp since i know little or nothing about them). But I dont wanna spend €300 on a graphics card I may never use:)
    Cheers

Buying pc just to play wow is a bit silly bud. I am constantly trying to command to it, for the last 3 years...
I finish one dungeon and then I realise: wtf am I doing?! Then I am good to go for another 3 months.
Makes sure you really want to play it, as it changed so much. It would be a shame to spend money on pc for wow amd then not play it.

Thanks shadowhearth, although I will be building a pc regardless of whether I play wow. I have a laptop thats getting a bit old and I was planning on getting a new pc to replace it.

Yeah the game can be a total timesink and I wasted plenty of time on it. Haven't played for a year and that time I only subbed for a few months, I think im just gonna use the free time and do a month on top -if its like last time i wont have too much trouble leaving it

oops my first post is misleading alright.

well depending what is your budget for a PC. HD3000 will let you play wow, but experience wont be very pleasent. yes, its old game, but it had quite a few graphical updates, so its not as simple as it used to be back in 2006ish.
now i am not saying to get some sort of gtx 680 for it :D. something like 6670 should be more then enough and it wont break your piggy bank. damn, you could even snatch some older GPU of adverts.ie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭sosmyface

Thanks shadowhearth, thats a good idea about adverts.ie actually, never would of thought of it!
How about a passively cooled gpu either? Since it mightnt be strained too much and I dont have to worry bout the fan/dust etc.
No budget really, just wanna build a good and reliable pc -guess would pay anything up to €150ish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭sosmyface

Oh deadly, thanks Serephucus that looks pretty much exactly what I was looking for! I love the fact its passively cooled and can put it into a htpc or something if I dont get much use for it. Sweet, cheers:D

    another happy customer lol :D

Be careful with those though. A lot of people think you can just shove one in a case and be done with it. You'll have to watch your temperatures, and you'll need at least some airflow. Remember that not everything in the card has a temperature sensor on it, so while HWMonitor or GPU-Z or something might report your card at 50°C, you might have voltage regulators or something else spiking at 90.

    Me again!
What about the Sapphire HD7750 1GB GDDR5 Ultimate Graphics Card?
Its just a couple of weeks old and only about €10-€15 more expensive.
Sapphire claim "first totally silent card to embody all of the features of this new generation of products based on the revolutionary new GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture from AMD" - probably marketing spiel but what do ya reckon?
