A gud number of them are from the rose of tralee, the leitrim rose will be on in a few weeks!

It really gives a bad impression of Irish women and some of the comments from the girls were very harsh. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was 1 woman in front of 30 men some of them wouldn't be so smart!

Its the usual story, cocky confident lads will get the women on it and the quiet nice girls will get their lights turned off by said lads and vice versa....thus is the Irish dating scene!

Don't think you can really connect Irelands male suicide rate with fussy Irish women. C'mon.
Look if it makes you feel better, will i pretend that this man is my dream man:
    Brian-Cowen004.jpg
Being honest, I think Irish men can be just as fussy as girls. The difference is, alot of girls don't want to kiss every man that approaches them, one, because alot of the time the guys are blind drunk in a nightclub/pub, not attractive, and two they can be labelled by both men and women if they lose their fussy tendencies. Doesn't work like that for a man, they can score with as many women as they like and they are seen as a hero or something, i.e. Caahhhvan man. If a woman came on the show saying something similar, can you imagine the abuse she would get?

    No, sorry.
Think its a grungey look i go for. He is too clean cut for my liking. Now in saying that, I am just talking about my dream man, not the man i expect to meet up with anytime soon here anyway:p

Ideally, this would be him. Ticks all the boxes, plus that accent. Drooool!;) Met him once, and honestly don't think i have met a nicer more personable guy. Biased though!

    Honestly
    • a guy who doesn't take himself too seriously
    • a guy who isin't obsessed with material things
    • a guy who doesn't aim to get sh**faced every night they are out
    • a guy who isn't macho, i.e. none of those rugby boys, i see them as just big pieces of meat and muscle and kind of soulless. (That sounds cringey, sorry:o)
    • a guy who is talented at something, i.e. artistic, musical, whatever, i just find it really endearing that they are interested in something individual and personal
    • a guy who isin't involved in MACRA!!!! (Sorry, just not my thing!)
    • a guy that looks like a cross between Paolo Nutini, Johnny Depp, Joseph Fiennes and many others!!
    • a guy with amazing eyes, so that everytime they look at me i melt a little.:o
I know that i will never find someone who matches all of these things, but i can dream.:p

Have to say, I dig what you're saying. Your previous post about how you warm up to lads after getting to know them a bit and not want to just go off with an auld ****er in a bar for the sake of it makes a lot of sense.

On another note, I've been following this thread since the show aired and have been absolutely PISSING myself laughing at some of the comments!!!! One of the best I've read was when someone called Klamborgini, Khlamydia!!!!! GAS!"!!!

By the way, Im on the show this friday...My appearance is quite a feisty one!!!! I was all fired up to take on the girls backstage and went out guns ABLAZING!!!!! It will surely make for quality TV anyway!

My talent was guitar so LOOK OUT PEOPLE!!!

    rebel10 / caseyann,

Can ye please take your conversation about your perfect partners to PM or Visitor Messaging on each other's profiles? It's sorta derailing the thread.

    Cheers.

I watched this for the first time on Friday night. My god, talk about such a load of thripe! What a poor reflection on Irish women! I have to say, I thought the lads were lovely, the wee lad from the north seemed really sweet. All in all, I though the lads came across fantastic, really good craic, charming and pleasant. As for the girls, dressed very very badly, poorly presented in general, not very well spoken, so bloody judgemental. Hello girls, if your desperate enough to go on a gameshow like that, beggers cannot be choosers! Think the production company were scrpaing the very bottom of a large barrel picking these lovely "ladies". Great show, ladies, sort yourselves out!

Can we all just remember that this is a GAMESHOW?? Its not life and death! I just thought id set a few things straight here....

Yep the 10 shows where recorded over 3 and a half days...3 shows a day.
It wasnt In a warehouse...it was the Helix
No no body is a paid actor.
Each show took 2 and a half-ish hours to record..edited down to 40 odd mins..hence all the witty comments because they cut 90% of all the lovely comments out.
To over done and the state of the girls? I challange any girl to do it better..there was 10 mins changing time between show 1 and 2 which they change they're hair make up dress and shoes and be back downstairs...

how do i know? im one of the LUCKY 30 girls... yep im a normal joe soap..happily working away full time and said why not sure it'll be a bit of a laugh... and it was! im in no way "fame grabbing" sure we were all cringing at ourselves watching it.. but sure if u cant laugh at yourself then whats the point?? just all some light hearted fun!....

What is up with everyone slagging us off? seriously ppl CHILLAX! its a game show for god sake! If we had of all been all ever so nicey nicey and kept all our lights on and said nothing it would of made crap tele now infairness! Its all for the craic and a bit of a laugh... believe me ppl the blokes give it back too and thats whats funny..the banter! we love it when the blokes slag us back!! give the guys a chance..i totally agree 100%..dont go on first impressions?????.. like talk about calling the kettle black..in the last 17 pages we've been called ugly, fat, dumb, hags, skangers, stuck up, whingers, complete jokes, snobby, trashy, dim, mingin, knobs, repulsive....ah i could go on forever ?? nice ppl.... REAL NICE!! I dunno..you swear we were shootin d guys after d show not havin d craic with them laughin about the whole thing at the bar??

Listen at the end of the day we are 30 normal down to earth girls who are up for a laugh, a bit of craic and just want to have fun! The guys are the same...Necks like steel! I love the way everyone has an opinion about us and can very much openly slate the show, the set, ray foley, the audience the contestants etc but when we open our mouths we are.....

Believe me.. any thing we have said to any guy is completely mild compared to some of your horrendeus comments.. Dont get ne wrong here im not easily offened at all and to be honest its water over a ducks back with me but at the end of the day ive met 50+ absolotue DIAMONDS of ppl on that show and i cant just sit back and say nothing...

I dunno... can we all just remember that this show is HEAVILY edited and the fact that it is exactly that...a show! Lighten up ppl...Im gettin enough slaggings off friends and family witout reading it here too :D

you deserve every bit of slagging you get, it'll be a laugh?? doing what, mocking some poor idiots clothes, teeth, hair, age??? All the girls are just using this as a platform to get their own back on every nasty guy they dated, every co worker who ever said she's a fat arse, bad breath, **** make up, crap hair, bad in bed, bad at givin head!! take your pick. If its such a laugh would you turn up as quickly for a role reversaly edition?? you in front of 30 guys??? you would in your fat arse!! :pac:

Oh it will be SOME laugh believe me! Judging by the mood of this thread over the past week, it seems as though people have been waiting for a bloke to bark back at the ladies...which is EXACTLY what i did!!!!

having said that, it IS just a show and does NOT in any way reflect reality or the dating scene in Ireland in my opinion. I'm friends with 90% of the girls off the show now and they are genuinely decent gals who are just up for the craic. Not a mean streak in them at all. Even some of the seemingly more harsh ones are actually little gentle yokes when you scratch at the surface.

When I went out there, I did blast a couple of whiskys into me to take off the edge!!! Us lads were totally ****TING it backstage!!! We were watching guys getting ripped apart, our hands were trembling!!!!!!! Im good buddies with Shane(aka Van Wilder) now aswell....bleedin LEGEND!!!!

It is a pity that the producers paid money for the Helix when the could have got the same sound out of a cheaper venue such as a Warehouse!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,356 ✭✭✭santana75

My God this show is a train wreck. Its compulsive viewing alright but it has this air of nastiness about it. You dont wanna watch, it makes you feel not altogether good, but you watch all the same. The girls really are making themselves look terrible. Physically not the best but Ive met girls who werent the best looking but had lovely personalities so you'd forget about the physical shortcommings. But the ladies on this show........There was one girl who rejected a guy because of his eyebrows!!!!! Come on, you gotta be not all there to be rejecting people based on eyebrows! Crazy. I wouldnt mind if she was in anyway good looking herself, she wasnt. Beggers cant be choosers and all that.
Thought the lad who'd been in college for 9years was brilliant, he's some buachaill. Fair play to him for having the courage to go on, he mustve known he'd get slated.
