I'm actually kind of shocked by that.

Me too, and I suppose puts Cutler's position more in jeopardy.

LaCanfora stating trestman firing announcement soon. Says trestman will be a valued OC candidate for any other head coach

Interesting...Trestman must be sh1tting hot bricks now. Still don't think Cutler's in any danger just yet as he'll cost too much. But Trestman must start cleaning house now, if he's staying. Starting with Kromer.

    Any word on trestman

    Just now:

@JayGlazer: Marc Trestman was just fired as well

    Surprised by that.

Just get Tucker and Joe D out now before I have a seizure.

Going to miss @FauxEmery on twitter and him quoting PFF stats in pressers. Thanks for Martellus, Alshon, B Marsh, Kyle Long and Kyle Fuller, Phil.

Wasn't expecting a full clearout. I thought Emery would get another chance.

It's Jay's contract that killed Phil.

Trest''s preference for the West Coast game manager showed the total disconnect between head coach and gm. It's a shame. I liked much of his drafting and free agency efforts.

    All the best Phil.

Keeping Tucker last year was another black mark, if he'd known there was a chance he'd be fired this year, he may have been more aggressive with that move.

In not a bears fan but Mike shanahan is a good coach, it's son of shanahan that might be the problem.

Shocked that Emery is gone, really thought he would get one more season. Glad that's the last I'll see of Trestman. Interesting times ahead.

I thought Shanahan was the most likely next coach when I expected Emery to stay. Now he's gone, it's more up in the air.

There is one benefit to firing Emery re the next coaching hire. If Emery stayed, he'd have gone ultra-safe with the next coaching pick to save his own ass (I doubt he'd have gone for a college coach, for example).

The new guy can evaluate all coaches, and pick the best one.

Ted Phillips has been moved into a job away from making football decisions apparently. Just a rumour at the minute.

Heard that too, being moved to CFO or whatever. Probably for the best, his hires haven't been good. I'm starting to like George McCaskey, although the firing part is the easy one I suppose.

Have just heard that it was 91 year old Virginia McCaskey who stepped in and told George to fire both Trestman and Emery as this season was such an embarrassment. It seems the board was undecided what to do till she put her foot down.

So you're saying cheer leaders are still not going to be a runner?

She would never allow something so vulgar.

I know, she hates them, my point was more to do with that I thought she no longer had any input since stepping down. She's about 91 or so.

She's 91 alright. My brother in law does marketing for the Bears and he just told me. Rumors are flying at the minute. Maybe she will do the press conference coming up.

I've seen kromer is gone as well. Surely tucker had been chopped. Have I just missed that announcement?

If Tucker stays I'm finding a CFL team.

I think that's trestman's plan actually. Maybe you should wait and see where he goes. I mean, you'll probably have to wait until you watch the tape...

That's what makes the Bears, Lions, Packers (spits), Giants and Browns special. No cheerleaders. It's vulgar and I don't see the point of them TBH. As long as the Halas/McCluskey families control the Bears, I can't see it happening.

    Quite right too...

Well if Jerry Angelo is anything to go by, Virginia's desire to avoid such displays of misogyny didn't ever extend to suspending wife beaters, but it's probably a debate for another day.

Some teams have guy cheerleaders too. Well only two teams.

The Redskins have them as it's a long standing tradition. And the Ravens have them as the team President liked it in college games and wanted this for their new franchise in 1996.

Cheerleading doesn't have to be vulger if that's how you see it

Meh, I'm happy enough that we don't have them to be honest, they are criminally underpaid by other teams, and the idea that it's anything other than something for meat heads to wolf whistle at between plays didn't really wash. I know they have a different role in American life in general, but the impression is pretty hard to shake.

Anyway who cares, it's Bear fan Christmas.

Good riddance to them all - emery way overrated on here for sure. Look at the head coach decision, the cutler contract, the lack of leadership and babbling.

Hitting on 2 first rounders and a second isn't nearly enough and his drafts have been otherwise poor - we just have such s'hitty expectations we think it's enough.

We ve wasted enough picks to have no safties or LBers of note - 4 picks at least between the 2 positions. Then throw in Allen, Houston and go back to the first sentence again. 10 - 8 to 5-11 in 2 years. How the f'uck people think he had a clue I can't understand. Bottom line says he's an awful GM.

Tucker will be gone along with rest of staff, no need to panic - we are just getting the major firings first. New coach = new staff.

Looks like my wishes last night, if what they are saying about Phillips is true. Everyone below mccaskeys gone from football side of things.

Now to get real football people and hopefully become a legitimate organisation.

Oh and it's obvious this is George and his actions, not Virginia, bears have never done anything remotely close to this before in terms of eating contracts etc. people were predicting tucker would be sacrificed - think about that and where we are now.

    Happy Christmas all - delighted!
