Not many. Those having Cutler down as an overrated player who would underachieve may need to re-evaluate, tbh I don't see why he was put in that bracket this year. The guys a beast considering how many hits he takes, one of the most hated players in the league is a tough guy who doesn't bitch about his linemen.

They can't run the ball which will stop them making a run beyond the first playoff round if they make it.

Fair play to the Chiefs and Tampa too.

Cutler made some incredible throws last night. Chicago are finally starting to see what they invested in.

My prediction of 5-11 Isn't looking so good now. I'm eating my crow at the minute.

Martz is an absolute genius along with Tice. The adjustments yesterday were perfect.

One win from the next 2 games and I'll be delighted with this start.

Cutler lighting it up in Chicago atm, with Kyle Orton playing very well over in Denver too... both teams benefiting from the trade, imagine that!

That said, stern tests next week for both of them

Cutler is one of my favourite players. The pass to Knox was incredible. Prob one of the strongest arms in the NFL.

    Cutler's numbers on Sunday.
CMP ATT YDS CMP% LNG TD INT RAT
    21 29 277 72.4 59 3 0 0 136.7

Basically he is credited with 8 incompletions on the day.

4 were deliberate throwaways when protection broke down
1 was dropped (on a brilliantly thrown ball) to Hester

A far as I am concerned, he was 21/25 on the day. That's an amazing day out.

My opinion is that his last two games, with that O-line and a half-decent set of receivers, Cutler has been incredible. It's early days yet though, and at any moment he could throw 3 picks.

@ Rented Mule. The QB gets the credit when a Receiver makes a ridiculous one handed catch, or takes a short pass 50 yards into the end zone, so it's only fair they take the hit for poor protection or dropped balls. I forget which one ... but one of his receivers made a crazy one handed catch last night, if I'm not mistaken?

Devon Hester did make a great one handed catch last night for a TD

As pointed out in the thread above, Devin Hester made a great catch in the end zone for the TD. The truth of the matter is that if you can get your hands on the ball, you should catch it.

    Bears are 4-0 in last 4 games & I think Cutler has a 100+ in all 4

Cutler has been fantastic behind an extremely dodgy O-line and his apparently weak receiver corps are backing him up nicely. That said its only 2 games in and we have a very difficult schedule so anything is possible. The packers on sunday will be a real test even at soldier field.

I have to give a lot of credit to the defence. They are stuffing the run which was a big weakness in previous years and hitting hard in the secondary and causing turnovers which is always a Bears strength. I think Romo came out and said that he was intentionall throwing the ball to very difficult areas for his receivers to catch to avoid them taking huge hits which would have meant more incompletions.

Still some work to do, get the run going being the main point but with Cutlers arm the run was always going to be secondary. I went into the season worried that we would get our asses handed to us most weeks but now at least i know we will compete well with any team

Working night shift on Monday... hope I can hook up to it online somewhere! :)

Too early to be saying that much about them. They beat a poor Dallas side and Detroit. Monday will give a much better idea where they stand.
As a Packers fan Monday can't come quick enough :)

    Packers and Bears

The oldest rivalry in professional football by a long way!

    Roll on Monday night

Two years ago the Pack were a 6-10 team. Things change fast in the NFL!!! ;)

Nice early season match-up. That 6-10 Packer team was the youngest in the NFL (and Rodgers first year starting). A little more experience, pick-up a pretty good linebacker last year, ....and as the locals say here, oh yeah -
    Da Bears still suck!

I gotta admit, I only got through about the first 40 seconds, then had to look away.

    Well that was horrific :o

Nine first half sacks on Jay. I think the first one was a bit hard and made him forget that he actually has to throw the ball ???

roll eyes if ya want & I was pretty damn harsh on Cutler after the game but after rewatching & from whats been said he got his concussion on the 4th sack so I'll go easier on him. Awful performance by the Bears & that has to be the worst OL I've ever seen play EVER

Panthers next week should get us back on track

I've found myself saying that after nearly all our wins this year!

As Dan Jiggetts said after the game Sunday: ''I'd rather the Bears be a 4-1 team that look better than they may be rather than a 1-4 team that is better than their record.''

edit: Also some good news, Jay passed his concussion test last week, both the one done by team doctors and an independent doctor and it was a Coaches decision to give him the weekend off to re-charge. So he'll definitely be playing on Sunday v Seattle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,455 ✭✭✭davetherave

Well that was a comedy of errors. :(
As much as I hate to say it, if it wasn't for our defence we'd have no offence.

Good job by Lovie and the crew upstairs on the challenge and non-challenge mix up.

And how about sexy rexy being on the winning team :D

Go outside, spin around three times, spit on the ground and utter a curse at the Packers. When you are finished, ask permission to come to come back in :p

Looking good so far. Up 14-13 at the end of the third quarter.
Jay Cutler averaging 10yards a carry and 11.2 yards per pass. Go Jay, Go!

tight game last night, how we still have a half decent record is beyond me. fluked it last night on a PAT miss i mean how jammy can u get?

debate of the night last night was i cutler a bad qb or is it the offensive line that is terrible. i like cutler myself, think he can become a good qb but he just has no protection. thank god for our defence.

Bit of both to be honest. Never actually liked the trade but that piss poor line doesn't help

Just saw on the bears roster that Desmond Clark is listed as the 2nd string Long Snapper?? If Pat Mannelly goes down, surely Olin could step in, or even Rob Garza at a push.

Or maybe I'm just under-estimating his ability considering he's been listed at fullback instead of TE since McKie was released...

I know it would be pretty unlucky for something to happen considering he's only in for a dozen plays at most per game but still....

Des was snapping on special teams pre-season against Oakland, it was hilarious. I also thought that Olin could do it. I'm sure after Des' pre season performance it would be Olin/Garza that would come in. Just hasn't been updated. Manning and Knox are 1 & 2 on the depth chart for kickoff returns too but that has changed.

    Des Clark CANNOT longsnap.

Congrats to Patrick Mannelly. Last night was his 200th game as a Bear

That was a great win last night

We're still not going to get any respect from opponents or the media. Trent Dilfer, last night on ESPN, blamed the Eagles cleet size on the reason why we won. They were wearing the wrong cleets for playing on the Soldier Field grass apparently.

Yes, really. The man has some personal issue with the Bears.

And then Deion over on NFLN Gameday after the Eagles CB slipped on the Johnny Knox TD: ''It ain't the shoes baby! It's the route!'' :D.

    Haters be hating, whatever!

The scoreline says differently though, and when the final whistle goes that's all that counts. :)

I was happy enough with all parts of the team though.
Jay getting a ~147ish passer rating
Only gave up four sacks against a good defence, Knox, Hester and Bennett did a great job recieving and how about Olsen with that jumpball averaging 17.6 yards per grab.

Defence got four sacks for 40 yards and 7 hits on Vick.

    And interestingly enough,
Paid Attendance: 62,147, Stadium Capacity: 61,500 <--Does not compute :D:D

Rick Morrissey of the Chicago Sun-Times on the Bears' 31-26 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles: "This had nothing to do with luck or a soft schedule or sidelined adversaries or the possibility that Michael Vick's body clock was set to Kazakhstan time. This had everything to do with a Bears team that, finally given an opportunity against a real, live, talented opponent, rose to the occasion and made us naysayers say, in so many words, yea. With a 31-26 victory over the Eagles on Sunday, the Bears proved they belong among the top teams in the NFL"

Detroit has a deceptively poor record, it doesnt really reflect the quality of their playing as of late, so that was a pretty good win. 9-3 is not bad a record, top of the Division and 2nd in the league behind Atlanta. Next week against the Pats will be the real test. with luck our momentum will sustain and NE's shortened week will give us an edge.
