For their next factory takeover Bap To The Future are pleased to present Berlin's Objekt.
Since smashing the scene wide open with his white label 12"s and remixes for Radiohead and SBTRKT in 2011, the Berlin-based producer has become one of the most talked-about properties amongst those in the know.

His convergence of Techno, Dubstep , House and Garage conventions are bold statements on the possibilities of German engineering and UK Bass music, programming new routes and solutions for the most demanding, forward-looking dancefloors. Preferring quality over quantity, his sole release of 2012, the Cactus Ep on the esteemed Hessle Audio featured highly in a number of end of year charts including clinching the number 11 spot on Resident Advisor's Top 50 tracks of the year.

Admission is only €5 before midnight and support on the night comes from Bap To The Future resident Noid The Droid

Well as it happened I found myself being persuaded to tag along with a few others the night before that gig, and to my surprise i didn't feel like a fish outta water. But, I didn't feel like two in a row... Will keep an eye on future gigs.

Im heading up on Saturday the 26th. Are there any decent bars that play house music? Something like the twisted pepper.

For bars you should check the Bierhaus or Blue Note and maybe Massimo if you want a late bar after. They're all close to each other so you should be safe enough heading in that direction.

There's also electronic type stuff in Factory (where CP's used to be) and DnB in The Cellar. Hope that's a help.

Foroige Galway, in association with the Alan Kerins Africa Projects, are holding a table quiz in Monroes Tavern on Wednesday, February the 13th, to raise funds for the good work that the Projects do in Africa. Each year, the Projects run a GAA Challenge in Croke Park. This year, Foroige and Galways own, Adrian McGrath, will be playing in the game, alongside such greats as Niall Quinn, Pat Spillane, Ray Houghton and others. The quiz is general knowledge based, and begins at 8pm sharp. It is to be compered by Galway's MC Supremo, Ronan Scully. The cost is 40 euro per table, of up to 5 people. Feel free to come along no matter your number, we will accommodate! Spot prizes galore including prizes from Connacht Rugby, the GAA, Horse Racing Ireland, the Westwood Hotel and many other generous sponsors. For those so football inclined, the Manchester United vs Real Madrid game will be on in the background or foreground, depending on your involvement! Hope to see you there.

Sorry for the blurb. It should be loads of fun, and theres some great spot prizes to be had, tickets to the rugby etc. Hope to see a few boardsies there.

Billy Connelly is visiting Gawlay on Monday, 29th of April; comedy set in Salthill
Tickets being at €49 and go on sale this Friday, it’ll sell out very quickly I presume.

    Anything on tomorrow nite?

Looking for decent bar food and a good trad session. Don't mind traveling a bit around Galway City or environs

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,223 ✭✭✭✭biko

Crane Bar has the best? trad in the city. Usually start around 8pm.
In the afternoon try Tigh Coilis on Shop Street, often a session going at 5pm-ish.

True. But neither do any food, much less decent bar food. For that, try Massimo.

    Trad+Food+Galway=Does Not Compute!!
Plenty of both around but it involves moving at some stage.
Monroes is a slight possibility cos you can get pizza but the music could be anything and a bit/very touristy.
Good ballad/folk session there every second Friday though but that's no good to the OP.

The Western on Prospect Hill does Trad and Food but I think it's Thursdays.
    Saturday is a covers band.

    Do the Pucan have trad?

Thanks all, went to the trad session in the Crane, excellent. Ended up eating in the hotel, the wife pulled the over 55's card and they threw in a 4 course meal FOC. Hand lunch yesterday in a very quaint old world tea shop at the Spanish Arch. Great city to visit.
