What are these career support workshop thingies about? Are they mandatory?

Technically yes, but you can get out of one or 2 of them. It is a good idea to go though as Sarah has some great info to give and when she brings in great guest speakers you also have a chance to get to know a potential employer.

I found them worthwhile but didn't go to many in WebInnovate as had attended them in Activate and Elevate so felt had gotten all I could from them.

To be honest, I can't remember but I think there were 4 and they were about an hour each. Sarah is always available to arrange a chat with you and help you to sort your next step. She really helped me to figure out that I wanted to go freelance at content creation.

Anyone here end up doing the 1 year degree in Digital Technology and Design with the Digital Skills Academy?

Trying to find somebody on the one that is running currently to see what they think.

    Cheers.

That is the one I finished in August. If you want to read back I outline quite a lot about it.

    Thanks Witchie.

Did you do the WebElevate (Ord. Degree) and WebInnovate (Hons. Degree), or just the latter? Edit: I see you did both

I'm not concerned about the methods used, as I found the live syncs to work very well during the WebActivate programme and the video lectures are generally very well done. One advantage of doing the course solo is that if you need to pause the video, you can, without having to stop the whole class.

I'm very interested in speaking to someone who has done the "coders stream".

I'd like to get a lot of detail on what is covered exactly. I'm dipping my toes in some of the stuff covered in the course, but if I had more detail on the degree, I would have a lot more drive to get as much competency in it as possible, between now and April.

There's a decent amount in the prospectus, but as I said, I'd like more detail.

If I could get a good grounding in it beforehand, I'd hope to be able to really kick on in the course.

Did the industry partners seem to want to employ people from the course?

Am not much use to you then coz I did the management stream. I am not so sure about the industry partners as we did our own project and I was out of the country for a lot of the course so didn't really get to know many so not sure. Sorry!
