Hello again has anybody any idea how payment for the course will be handled? Must we contact somebody or do they contact us?

At the induction day the other day they gave us a letter and form to bring round to the dole office. You have to bring it to your local LES office first to be signed and then drop it into the dole and that means you wont have to sign on while doing the course and your money just goes into your account as far as I know.

I am slightly different as I am only signing for credits and get one parent family so not sure if anything different will happen.

I e-mailed them and was told that we'd get the letter and form Tuesday when we start our training. The problem is is that I have to sign on Tuesday and collect money Wednesday! Of course the two days I'm needed in there has to be those two days. Which is typical. Also the FAS Officer is only in my local town twice a month and if that's the case I wont be able to go into her, for her to sign the form. So I dunno what to do really!

You better sign on and fit the course around it until you get sorted coz last thing you need is to be without money. They will understand.

I just brought the letter I got last week into the SW office yesterday. They already had the other form filled out. They accepted the letter and said I should start receiving payment into my account from next Thursday. This is going from JA onto the Momentum scheme.

    Hey guys

I'm just wondering if anyone from Dublin has applied in the last week?

I thought I had missed my opportunity but having heard an ad on the radio that the application deadline has been extended until tonight I applied and had my meeting with FAS who gave me the go ahead.

Does anyone have any insight into the selection process? The college told me on Thursday that there were still places left in Dublin. I was delighted as I was surprised to hear this!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone is still waiting to hear back, I know here's an information meeting this Friday which I hope to be invited to!

    Cheers

Its probably the same procedure that is outlined in this thread. Aptitude test, team work workshop and then green light if you pass them.

Ohhhh playing with my new laptop! Exciting times. Hope the rest of you are getting on well too! :D

Waiting for His Hubbiness to return. Did you get the phone too, or is that to follow?

    Have fun! :)

Yes, same here. The course is very stop/start isn't it? He has another class tomorrow, then nothing more until next Thursday. Doesn't really give you the chance to get cracking. But my husband is pleased with it so far, and thinks he'll enjoy it.

Seems to be one of the few courses where you'll actually GET something from it. And I don't just mean the hardware!! :D

Was thinking it would be last chance would get to go see her until October but turns out we get some holidays in August so might get to go see her then.

Anyone else go to the Information day last friday?

Was told a new course starts tomorrow and applicants would be notified either way to let them know if they were successful or not.

It's 3.40pm and I am still waiting to be told :pac: (go figure huh?)

still waiting, as is at least one other guy I contacted - I phoned them to find out as I'm doing an internship and kinda need to know if I'm not turning up tomorrow!

In knots....they said they'd call me back...

Guess we can only sit and hope until 5.30pm (?) But logically, they had to of been ringing people all day.

The info day last friday morning had around 20-30 people at it and there was another one at 12pm. I assume it had similiar numbers. I reckon the 120 places filled up easily. As there were more open days prior to last friday :(

It's hard I tell as the course has already started - if only let's say half the places were filled that's 70 people: there were 3 rounds on Friday of 30 people each - so that's 90 for the remaining 70 places - but who knows, all speculation! Best of luck

    Best of luck too, mate.
But wait, the course has already started? I thought it was starting tomorrow. Don't tell me it's been running the last week & people dropped out already!? / they are scrambling to re-fill the numbers up?

You heard it on the late late show :D

Just got a phone call offering me a place, starting tomorrow. Can't believe it, had all but given up and was just checking back here to see how you were all getting on with it.

Nice one B.A. yeah they rang me at 5:15

Sorry I feel a bit bad coming on celebrating now while others are still waiting. I'm just stoked I got on it.

Good luck and I hope you get a place

No need to feel sorry :) You'd obviously be happy you got it.

The way I see it is that it's up to the Digital Hub to pick who gets it. It's not like applicants can shaft other applicants in the selcetion process :pac: So I won't begrude anyone getting it :)

There are only 30 on the Monaghan Course and I think there were meant to be 40 so they are trying to fill those places. 2 people showed up today and are going for the aptitude test etc on Wednesday in Dublin.

Induction started but the course itself doesn't properly begin until next week although we did have lectures in digital photography today and will have Web Authoring on Thursday but still think they are only kinda basic introduction stuff that if you have missed them you will catch up quickly enough in.

So don't panic and good luck!

Got an acceptance mail there at 6.40! Better late than never although I had started packing my bags for England!

I hope you all get in, best of luck

I put all day yesterday on hold and nothing. Looking like a repeat performance at the moment.
    Anyone still waiting to hear?
I'm expecting a PFO at this stage

There seems to be a lot of vacant spaces in Dublin and Monaghan. By the amount of interest shown I'm kind of surprised by this.

I don't mind not getting it. BUT it does bother me when someone says "We'll let you know either way" and you hear nothing

I've been told that at quite a few job interviews over the years and I instantly say 'bullshit' in my head. Guess I was naive last friday when the girl doing the induction said "we will contact you either way on monday to let you know and if you aren't successful we will tell you the reason why"

Even a short email yesterday would of been fine.

Really don't want to get any hopes up but I was told yesterday that people would be notified yesterday and today - some received calls and some emails

If not then at the very least a POF should be sent.

There were about 30 people in Dublin today.

There were 130 odd places overall in Dublin.

I haven't seen the size of the second class so it may or may not be full

Agree completely. The fact that they were so definite about it being Monday with a yes or no makes it more frustrating.

Exactly. They said Monday so much.
I rang them up earlier and they said emails would be sent out later. It's now 6.10pm and nothing :pac: But ILikeFood got an email around this time yesterday. So i'll give it a while.
