Doesn't look like a public road to me? If not, I don't really see the problem...

It's not a public road. It's a farmyard, but sure they'll go mad about it anyway.

    That was amazing!

As others have said, if its on private property, and by a "professional" stunt driver, there aint much wrong with it!

Allegedly the jump is over a public road AFAIK?

They weren't actually on the road, they should be done for not having a pilots license. :D

I can now see the latest craze, posting anonymous Utube stunts and trying to get away with them

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 17,856 Mod ✭✭✭✭Henry Ford III

The jump itself was great, but over a public road?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭Slidey

You can see there is someone standing on the road, probably would stop anyone if they happened to come along. It doesn't look much bigger than a one car road anyway

I don't see the issue tbh. Ballsy stunt, saying that he could have killed himself if it landed nose first

Featured on Newstalk. The RSA are apparently all over this one too.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoYmekxl7N0&NR=1

They never should have made such a big deal out of the first one. Every idiot is going to be at it now.

I'm sure they had people (maybe with radios) to stop up traffic, twas hardly a motorway. FFS, the RSA will be able to do you for picking your nose in your own driveway with the engine off soon...

It's a public road, where if one thing went wrong someone could be killed. And I doubt they had radios if they allowed pedestrians to stroll underneath. If someone was walking in the wrong place they could be clipped by the back wheels and be stone dead. Sorry, but I think it's retarded.

I thought he was going to lose it on the bend and smash into the concrete shed that the cameraman was standing on.

I really don't think that was a strolling pedestrian.

I'm assuming it's not that high off the road? If so, what if there was a truck, or tractor driving down the road at the same time?

Tis hardly a randomer out walking the dog now is it? It's obviously one of the lads, off to one side.

Then the pedestrian would have DIED! OMG!

Or waved them down as you would if cattle were crossing the road or whatever.
One is more likely than the other..

Would you stop if some randomer waved you down on a quiet country road?

At 0.11 you see a car going along the "road". The car looks very small. I'd estimate that there's no chance in hell of the car in question being able to make it to that road at the speed that they went at.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

Watched it again there and you're right it does look like he was involved. Still though, on private property that would have been excellent, but inches above potential traffic on a public road is lunacy.

Under the car, not in the distance.

You're right, I'd engage a lower gear to keep up backpressure in the exhaust, then drive through the livestock at a suitable pace to create a bow-wave but not draw livestock into the intake. Oh wait, that doesn't sound right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭no1beemerfan

We used to something like this when we were younger in a field but the jump was only half as big as that! The buzz was mighty! We'd a lolvo 340.

The RSA should campaign for a bridge to be built for them, its terrible that the roads are so bad they have to jump from field to field!

Seriously though its a jump over a back arse road in the middle of nowhere exactly the same as where my home place is and you'd see 1 or 2 cars a day, people you know that would stop no problem for the lad on the road.

No need for RSA involvment at all, they are a waste of our money!

How do we even know it's a public road? That Newstalk link doesn't work, maybe it was removed because it was a load of bollocks?

Had the driver stayed in the field nobody could have complained. The fact that they jumped the road changes things though.

The degree of danger to the public isn't important, but the fact that they took it upon themselves to pose a risk is.

Posting a video of the stunt on youtube is pretty stupid too.

They didn't touch the road so technically they did nothing on a public road. Come on, in reality if it even is a public road it is a single lane way like the one into my house which is technically a public road but is not treated as so by us and our neighbors, its basically an extension of the farms along the road, often we would have gates up blocking the road so we could keep cattle cornered etc.

Bit daft but if they are doing it in their own fields fair enough.

Regardless of whether they are on the public roads or "over" them then I think thats what has got them in bother. Its a bit like airspace, an extreme comparison I know!

Hope the apes had helmets in the car, if he hit that wall or missed the jump he was in bit trouble.

This could start a real snowball effect with videos on youtube of young lads ;) The RSA will be busy :)

No point in getting into minscule detail on this.

As I said above if they consciously potentially endangered the public in their stunt regardless of degree it's pretty stupid. They could have jumped higher/furter within the field and nobody would have said "boo" about it.

Similar logic to doing massive speed on a deserted road I'd have thought.
