Cheers mate, the waiting is a killer. I've got my hopes up a fair bit because my vetting has cleared! Very frustrating. My only comfort is that I should eventually get in, whenever that may be-I don't know!

I am from a much earlier campain so I must be in. I just finished my medical and my vetting cleared not long ago. So I think I am just waiting on a call. I don;t know what to think, and I don;t want to get my hopes up. I supposed the hard part is over now, and its just time to sit on my haunches. I'm from campain 13. eeekk!

hi there stoic copper how do you know you are still in the running from that campaign? have you contact appointments or any had some sort of correspondance from the police? I have applied on this campaign and am going mad waiting cant imagine how bad it must be to be waitin for over 2 years. fair play and good luck to you

Well,
I have been getting the odd correspondance from the PSNI for the last 4 years regarding my application. These things take time. I am not sure about alot of things in terms of how they hire, but you put your application in and take your chances I guess. I have heard of people applying and then applying again while they are waiting to hear from the first, but it is not necessary. Once you are in the pipeline you stay their until you are cleared all the way through. Your place is held. It takes time and money to get a person cleared and ready for hiring, it makes sense that they don't like waiting either. Now at least I can say, its all finished, and now I just have to sit back. It is well worth the wait.:cool:

Just phoned appointments and got my merit placing 130-150 , RC.

Delighted with this, medical passed, however no confirmation of vetting clearance so far.

My reckoning is that the results of The Chancellor's spending review (today) and its impact on NI / justice and policing will have our wee forum red hot again! (for all the right reasons)... Fingers crossed, eh?

I have just emailed vetting to see if I'm cleared yet.

As of 10/09/10 it was still ongoing. Forms submitted at 15 June '10, no big family nor many addresses. fingers crossed.

congrats on passing the medical, how long after doing it did u have to wait for the results? so reading the news it seems to suggest that the prime minister has agreed with the budget on policing in NI. from my understanding that means that the police budget wont be cut, and if is then wont be as bad as expected. or have i misread that completely?

I'm from campaign 13 also, I was ever so surprised to get a phone call a few months ago asking if I was still interested!!??!!

I just hope that we've not been brought back from limbo to flesh out the merit pool ......

I can;t believe I am not alone! I am amazed and totally happy we should send each other Christmas cards or something if we are still doing this at the same time next year. I don't think they would use us to widen the pool, there are plenty of applicants I'm sure. I got a letter to complete another medical a few weeks back. I was taken aback by it. But I did it and I passed it. Happy days! these things take money, and when things are tight they don;t like to spend where they don;t have too. I think we can take it as a good omen. Campagne 13! Yehaa!:D

How long does a passed medical last for?

I think I am a bit unusual but I have had two medicals. I don't think that could be the norm. But it sometimes takes longer for some peoples' applications. the whole process should take a year, maybe two. But it can go longer than that. I am at 4 years almost. You have to put it out of your head and try and dive into what you are doing now, but its pretty tough when you want what you want. Kinda leaves you a bit torn. Hope that helps!

I personally think there is no rhyme or reason to it and it just takes as long as it takes. I am sure generally you can work out how it should work, but sometimes things take longer and we aren't to know why. It doesn;t make it any easier, but there you have it. It took a long time for my vetting to clear. Bout 2 and a half years, but I don't think it took more and a couple months for the forms to come to me. Anyways. Try not to worry. They will come. No news is good news. try to think that way. Once they do come getting them away and then cleared.... that is another story. Its friday night. Let's forget it and go get a pint!

Hey guys, been following the discussions on here for a while. I went through medical back at start of July, which i passed. Not sure where abouts i am on merit list, would someone be able to PM me the number to find out position on Merit List? Anyone from C-16 had the phone call yet, or is it just C-15 at the minute?

Thanks very much Delancey! Rang up 5 minutes ago and managed to find out placing on list. Im under 200, (not sure if im allowed to give actual position so wont just incase). Im assuming that for this campaign that i should be fine for 50-50?! The whole reality for this all seems to be kicking in.... scary!!:D

Did anyone else get a letter recently telling them they have gone onto the Medical/vetting stage? I got one today, seems weird as i have my merit number and already had my medical and vetting has been in for some time now....

Maybe just a general 'please keep waiting' letter?

I've got the other letter people mentioned that could be paraphrased as below:

Further to your application
You've been told by deloitte that you passed their selection
Matt Baggot has to appoint on a 50:50 basis

In your particular case Matt Baggot is not in a position to determine whether an offer can be made to you or not. this is based on the fact that the number of appointments that can be made from this qualifying pool is unknown at this time.

Please infomr us of any changes in your personal circumstances

I understand your disappointment at not knowing the outcome of your application, but hopefully we will be in a position to advise you further by March 2011.


Better than a Dear John, but not good news by any stretch....

I bet the person who signed the letter knows nothing of our dissappointment!

You're far from being out of the race wanadrum though that letter always generates a lot of uncertainty.

I can't understand why they did not go out same time as the Dear Johns ?
