I would be very reluctant to say that it means you have passed Vetting.

Doubtless there are/will be people getting these letters whose vetting is still '' ongoing '' - such as myself .

Got the "progressing letter today", right again delancy42, also got an email back from vetting, stating "on going" .

I also get a letter today but mine states your appication is now being progressed through the fnal stages .Doesnt say anything about march 20011 .Is this the same letter as mine does state the change of circumstances bit .

Got that same letter also. I have my medical done and vetting completed.

No mention or March etc either.

Hi, i got the same letter on saturday(the progressing one). I am nrc and got 60 in the ac. Have any other nrc's who got lower than 60 received the progressing letter? Just trying to work out how far down the merit list they have went?

Yeah Kizwiz I got the progressing letter, not the march 2011 one. I'm NRC and got 58 in AC. I think I seem to be close to the boundary for the top group because as far as I know I am the lowest scoring NRC at AC who received the vetting forms the week after the AC. Haven't heard of any NRC with 57 or below getting vetting forms. I am between 200-220 on merit list if that gives you a better idea of how far down the merit list they are going.

Thanks Lucky23. They seem to have went down as far as 52 for rc's as far as i can see. I am still waiting on this mysterious art they call vetting to clear!

Yeah i've the dreaded feeling that my vetting is going to take forever due to lots of living in different places because of uni, for me, siblings and partner. At least you've had your medical, i've still no word on being called for that

B182 is correct - this refers to changes like splitting from a partner , losing your job , incurring a Fixed penalty , etc.
An obvious one would be a change of address - you'd be amazed how many people screw that one up and forget to notify P.S.N.I. of having moved , then they wonder why they never hear anything back......

Would a fixed penalty include a parking ticket? I got the same letter

Superstu, I also had that question about fixed penaltys and according to a few friends of mine who are now in PSNI, parking tickets are not the same as fixed penalty notices. Fixed penaltys are more speeding tickets and dangerous driving that cause you to get points on your licence. I may be wrong though!

I have also had the letter on saturday stating that i am progressing through the final stages of the selection progress. I am a NRC with a merit list placing of 170-180... First time i have went through recruitment so i am hoping that my placing is good enough!

Seems to be a bit of confusion over these letters , there are 3 different types -

    1) ' Dear John's ' which regretably a number of folks here received some time ago.

    2) ' Progressing ' letters - basically these are going to those with higher merit placings and it means that they are being processed through the system - good news.

    3) ' March 2011 ' letters - these go to people who have scored well enough meritwise to avoid Dear John's but are not in the higher bracket. It means that given uncertaintly about future recruitment it is not possible to say what will happen.
Take heart : a number of people who received those letters last year have since got the ' call '.

Both letters 2 and 3 contain the standard advice to inform vetting of changes in circumstances.

Thanks for info, will ask around and see just to double check, parked outside the royal hospital in what i though was a lay by, needless to say, it was infact the road, stupid me!!!!

I'm also surprised they told you that , still it is good news.

At this point the key is to have passed vetting and medical - merit is not such a huge thing , wish I was in your position

Just phoned this afternoon to find out that my vetting is still not cleared. Had my medical pass letter sent out a few months ago but now its back to the waiting game.. so much for it being quicker for single males with one place of living! haha:( good luck to those awaiting the "call"!!

To further add to the confusion, I rang appointments to confirm they had a contact telephone number for me. They didn't and were awaiting a reply from deloitte for it so who knows how long that would take. Anyway, I gave them my number and asked if calls were going out this week, as that's what I had heard. She said no and checked with the other girl in the office to confirm as much.

She said that perhaps someone from another department had said calls were going out, in her eyes incorrectly.

I reckon she has been told to say nothing (if calls are indeed going out), until they are being made.

I thought i'd pass on the info just for clarity - or lack of it!

Good luck to everyone who's passed medical and vetting has cleared. I'm sure you're wetting yourselves with excitement haha.

Thats crazy they didn't have your phone number pma1983, you expect they'd have simple things like that. At least they do now, I bet everyone else who is in a position to get a call will be phoning appointments like crazy people to check they have their phone number!

There was point when if they needed to contact me all they had to do was press 14713 I was on to them that often! In the end got fed up with "Ongoing" :p

grrrrr this is so frustrating!! i was thinking happy days after I rang yesterday because the girl had said calls were going out this week so I thought that was technically from the horses mouth!! now people are saying that they aren't!!! just dont know what to believe anymore!!
though if we have it confirmed that there is a dec intake then surely the calls would be very very soon!!

I asked to speak to someone in appointments. I'm guessing you did the same? Perhaps there are several internal departments? I agree about the frustrating part!!

    Let's stay positive!

Poor JP , yeah it is frustrating - I am surprised they told you calls were going out ( must have been someone new ).
Anyway as punishment for raising hopes we're going to feed you to the '' thing '' ;):D

I am all passed and cleared. Got the 'Non March 2011' progressing letter. Though circa 700 on merit list I could be in for a long wait.

Actually started a new job recently and all I can think about is the PSNI lol
