Replacing the SS would be a difficult task alright. Did you get somewhere to look after it locally?

No, was not happy with what was available locally so got the work done back in the UK instead by a specialist company.

Most places get charged a rental fee for them afaik - so you don't get to keep the old ones. That's how it works for us and we get our water off Ballygowan so it might be difficult to source them.

If it is for outside running based around an endurance/strength based programme or something similar, just buy an adjustable weighted vest jacket. The extra weight would be properly balanced and could be upped when required.

I use a 30kg vest jacket for running and for endurance and strength work, and use wrist weights for shadow boxing.

Used to try stuff like logs, sandbags, filled containers etc when I was younger, but experience has thought me that a well balanced set up brings far more gains than home made solutions no matter how well thought out they may be.

You could compliment it by incorporating an elevation mask into your training, if big endurance/stamina gains are a must.

And what sort of weight are you hoping to achieve using the plastic containers?

Are they to carry it against their chests and walk, or are they to lift by handles and waddle walk with the weight?

What makes you think it is stuck?

What sort of noise does it make?

both option a and b...i dunno what weight yet...i need to get a container to figure that out :P

and by "they" we mean "me" there for home use.

    Kettlebells.

If it is for strength training they are perfect for what you are describing. Probably safer as well, whilst not compromising on weight levels.

i was thinking kettle bells aswel, and drifter, i take no responsibility for the possible consequences of this next suggestion, but, get an empty (i stress EMPTY) yellow gas bottle, slice the top off with a saw that'll go through metal (not an angle grinder, as it'll spark, and just ask my old man what happens if you're told the bottle is empty and its not- lets just say he's lucky the beard got the brunt of the explosion!), and fill the bottle with sand.

It sounds like its coming from the middle of the chimney, sounds very flustered and distressed.
