I'm not sure how this dead heat thing works so I was wondering if someone could work this out for me

    Sean O'Hair €5 e/w @ 80/1 Finished T7 (Robert Rock, Sean O'Hair, Nick Watney, Matin Kaymer)
I put the bet down with Boylesports with Top 8 places,
    Thanks

I have the exact same bet, i'm reckoning € 52.50 returned.

4 tied for the last 2 places so half our stake.

Why do you reckon only 1/3 of stake?
Surely that would be for 3 tied for 8th.
kaymer dropping a shot to make them joint 7th mean 2/4 of stake surely?

    I had Rock 8 places @ 225/1 with Boyles.

I got E 143.13 for E5 each way. If that helps you work it out :)

He done well Rock, considering his 11.00 am tee off time on Friday

Well done, 1/2 your stake as i thought.

Had Rock on betfair for top 10 myself, € 5 at 25/1. That 5 footer on 18 for birdie was crucial :)

put it into the calculator on pp's site, the last poster said it should be half of the stake, this would be the case if there were 9 players involved but there were 10 so it's a third
go on to pp's website and it will make more sense

they gave you too much,he wasn't only tied with 1 other player, you'll have to get on to them straight away and give that money back:D

ew was 1st 8 so there was 4 players for 2 places so 1/2 stake at 1/4 odds which i make out at 52.50 returned

The formula is it helps (Stake x Odds x No. of Payouts / No. of Tied runners)

I cant get onto paddyPowers but what you're saying about 1/3 of odds would be correct for 3 players tied 8th.

4 players tied 7th when they're paying first 8 is 1/2 the odds.
In fact it's the same as 2 tied for 8.

If they only payed 1/3 then they wouldn't have paid 8 places.

It would be 6 (First 6) plus 4*1/3...only 7.33333 places

Half the odds gives 6 (first 6) plus 4*1/2....8 places.

I'm not In_tuition, you can agree with me ;)

    LOL:D
i'm not great at the maths but i know how to use the calculator on the site and that's what it came out at €5 e/w @225/1,tied with 2 others comes to €95.42

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Vurnon San Benito

Are you sure dead heat rules apply at Paddy Power?
    I had 40 E/W on McIlroy @ 16/1, E/W odds were 1/4.

Rory was Tied 3rd with tow others, Casey and Hansen IIRC.

I got 100€ back which was simply half my stake by a quarter of the odds, no dead-heat there.

Needless to say I withdrew faster than Aaron Lennon down the wing :D

take it that was placed in running. dead heat only applies where they is a tie that leads to more players then payouts are left ie 4 players in 7th with one payout.

    Why didn't you get € 200 back?

    40 euro place at 4/1??

No dead heat for 3 tied 3rd, that covers first 5 home.

    Was it in running??

Or was it 40 euro bet i.e actually 20 each way?

    1. It was 20€ E/W = €40, sorry for not making this clearer.
    2. I see, that's why i got a normal placing payout :)
    3. No, this bet was placed the day before the tournament tee'd off.

    :)

    Sound!

You were counting your winnings after round 1, tearing up the docket after round 2 and happy to settle for somewhere in between in the end :)

    Haha.
I wouldn't be the biggest golf follower to be honest but fancied Rory to do well in this one. When I saw Paddy's were offer up to 7 places I just said to myself - surely McIlroy will finish in the top 7? :D

After day one I was delighted, but knew it would take a huge second day to really take control, unfortunately the winds f**ucked him up and from -9, he went to -1.

I just wished for a big finale, and watched him right through. Some brilliant birdies, and some undesirable bogeys!
Anyway, he managed it and I was delighted!

Still kinda left to rue what could've been if the conditions suited him in the second day. Ah well, same for everyone, at least he beat Tiger :D (Apologies to anyone who backed Woods :pac:)

€ 52.50 collected on way home from work as expected.
