Yeah unless you decide to lead out a group of about 40-50 people, there's usually shelter. But you'd have to be a right eejit to do something like that.

yeah then you drop the group and finish over 3 mins ahead of all of them, something like that yeah :p

Sat 26th Nov, 3 mls recovery in the heath in 28 mins or so (no watch). Legs not too bad after Friday's session.

Sun 27th Nov, 4 mls easy in the heath in 32'52 (8'13). Bit hungover today (like every sunday lets be honest) and didnt feel the best. LSR tomorrow after work in the dark, should be awesome :D

Weekly Review, 40.5 mls and 7 runs. Tuesdays session was a little silly and i'm glad it hasnt left a mark. Happy with fridays session though and moving in the right direction.

Yearly Mileage, 1811.25. Need to keep over the 40mpw mark to get the 2k.

Mon 28th Nov, 14 mls LSR was the plan for this evening. Planned to do 8 mls, pass the house then a further 6.

The first 8 mls were fine, up towards Haringey and Finsbury Park and back. Got my lucozade sport at the house and away for the last 6. The wheels came off spectacularly at mile 10 and i struggled on for another 2.5 mls. Ran out of energy and bonked and it would have been silly to continue. The average overall pace dropped from 8'15/mile at mile 8 to 8'24 when i stopped, which says it all. Too much drink over the weekend and fast food and paid the price.

12.5 mls in 1'44'58 (8'24), which looks ok on paper i guess.

Tues 29th Nov, 4 mls recovery in 37'44 (9'26) down towards Archway and Holloway, swamped with Arsenal fans. Wasnt too wrecked from the long run the night before.

Weds 30th Nov, today's plan was for a 3 mile time trial all out. Decided to do 5k on the track at lunchtime in the Heath, cause its easier and safer than the outer circle.

Had sub 18 as a loose goal and maybe under 17'51 (pb) if things went well. The wind was gonna have a say though, there was quite a draining breeze up the home straight which i was gonna have to face each of the 12+ laps.

Headed out about 86-87 per lap pace and it felt ok for the first mile (5'48). The difference in pace was noticable from back straight to home straight, along with the difference in effort. I held this pace until laps 7-8 whe the wheels came off. I slowed to 88-89 and the headwind parts were murder and felt like i was wading through treacle. Happy i didnt clock any 90 second laps though. The lap splits are in the garmin link below.

I finished up in 18'16, which given the fact that it was windy, not a race, it was a solo effort etc, isnt too bad and i'm satisfied with it. If i had gone out in 87-88's i would have maintained it better and gone closer to 18. I think i would set a pb in a race if i did one but that can wait until the summer.

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/131862040

Mile w/u and w/d and a few strides for 5.5 mls total. I'm in the audience for Never Mind the Buzzcocks in the BBC studios later on this evening :D

    November Review;

So thats November done and dusted. Ran 167.25 mls but no races (for the first month since februaury) Took a week to 10 days to recover from DCM pacing but i've knocked out some impressive sessions since. All roads lead to Waterford in 10 days time now.

The arrival of Dec 1st marks a significant milestone for me (1 year in London), gonna have a few tonight no doubt to celebrate.

Thurs 1st Dec, 6 mls easy tonight in 48'18 (8'03) down to Lord's cricket ground. Felt surprisingly good tonight despite the rain and no ill effects from yesterdays time trial. 30 mins core afterwards, doing this twice a week consistently now.

Buzzcocks was class last night, it was the filming of the xmas special. Fascinating to see what goes on behind the scenes.

Fri 2nd Dec, 4 mls easy/moderate in the Heath at lunchtime in glorious sunshine in 31'01 (7'45). No doubt about it, lunchtime is the best time to run in the winter. It's not freezing like in the mornings and it's not dark like the evenings.

Good speed on the track TT Brian and on top of some good recent training too. You are in good form. I doubt I'll be anywhere near you in Caherdavin as you chase down Tracey

Sat 2nd Dec, 2 mls w/u around the heath then 6 x 1k cruise intervals at HMP on Parliament Hill track with 1 min jog recoveries.

Felt pretty crap on the w/u, tired and dehydrated. I was doing this in the 2160's too which was gonna make it tougher than normal. The same strong headwind was prevalent up the home straight too. Times were 3'59, 3'57, 3'58, 3'59, 3'59, 3'57, followed by 1 ml w/d for 7.25 miles total. These were tough, the only thing that got me through them was that the pace isn't too fast relative to my other sessions. The grip isnt great on these shoes and i almost slipped once or twice on the slippery track (don't worry i've phoned Camden Council and the diggers are in as we speak ;))

Sun 3rd Dec, Was supposed to be 10 mls LSR but a heavy day/evening/night on the drink meant all i could manage today was a recovery run in the Heath. 4 mls in 36'08 (9'02). Felt horrific throughout. Might need a new liver by January, the outlook for December doesnt look good. A healthy drink free week is in order this week in the leadup to Waterford i think.

Weekly Review, 43.25 mls and 7 runs. Ok week and happy with the TT on Weds. I'll be disappointed if i don't pb on Saturday, whatever the weather.

    Yearly Mileage, 1854.5 mls.

Great to see my local club back home Na Piarsaigh win the Munster Club yesterday, i grew up and did athletics with a lot of these lads.

Mon 5th Dec, 5 mls easy this evening in 42'00 (8'24). Think i'm coming down with something i'm not sure but the run wasn't affected. It may just be fatigue from a busy drink fueled weekend. Better load up on the lemsip max strength before Saturday ;)

Edit; delighted the Clontarf flood defence thing wasnt approved. I ran out there 3-4 times a week for 5 years and it wouldnt be the same without the view.

Rest day today. Felt fairly rotten upon waking up today as i suspected would happen. Broke my 23 day running streak (easily the longest ever). A little disappointed i missed my planned tune up session but its more important i'm recovered by the weekend and i'm fairly confident that i will be.

Weds 7th Dec, 5 mls easy in 40'35 (8'07). Still a bit caught up today but didnt want to take 2 rest days in a row so braved the cold. Wasnt too bad once i was out. I should be fine for Waterford on Saturday.

Thurs 8th Dec, 3 mls easy around the locality in about 26-27 mins (no garmin) Fairly windy but nothing like up north or scotland and strangley warm for the time of year. Sickness is all but gone thankfully, not using that one as an excuse on Saturday :pac:

Fri 8th Dec, 2 ml shakeout at lunchtime in the heath in about 18-19 mins. Felt fine.

Heading to Heathrow after work, looking forward to the weekend, hope the weather plays ball. Plan is to head out tomorrow at 6'20 pace (1'23'01 finish) and see how that feels. It should feel realtively easy compared to the 6'06's i was knocking out in the 10 mile but i wont know till the day if its a going day or not.
