Brian, booking those Olympics tickets is quite a tough job. Took me over 2 hours to get it all sorted with a calendar last night so don't leave it too late.

If i get all i put in for, i'll be broke but if i get the sessions i'm after, i can always say i was there.

I think it would go against the forum charter as it would be deliberately misleading.

Got one set of tickets for 4 people sorted for Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night of the athletics, by some way the best nights. Trying to make a duplicate order tomorrow with another card to increase my chances. £1760 in total if i get them all. Just as well i won't need accomadation over there.

I reckon I can pick up morning session tickets over there.

Mon 25th April, 3 mls easy in 26'03 (8'41) before losing my bollox in Fairyhouse. Down to the point and over the bridges from Tara Street and back.

Awesome work (the tickets, not the 3 mile run).

Ahhhh thats just £1760 between 4 of us, so 440 each if we get the most expensive tickets we have chosen for all 4 nights. You scared the sh1t out of me for a second quoting that figure! :)

If for the 2nd application we were to get every single ticket at the more expensive option we would be looking at 880 each, but 1) that wont happen and 2) we could just resell the ones we dont need.

    ^ Yeah thats very true

Tues 26th April, Went out to UCD and met Menosecmo for a proposed track session but neither of us felt like it and the rest didnt show up so we went for 6 easy miles at 8'53 pace in around 53 mins, mostly around the pitches and the track. Claralara briefly graced us with her presence which broke up the run. Legs felt better after that (they were a bit dead after Sundays 15 miler) and i can do the track session tomorrow in UL. Farewell to Dublin until the Donore 5k. The 5 days flew by.

Entered the London marathon ballot for UK residents today too.

Weds 27th April, After waking up after 1pm :D went out for 7 mls with 5 mls at tempo pace. Tempo pace being 6'29 which i averaged for the Reading half 5 weeks ago. After a mile at about 9 min pace I launched into the tempo miles. The splits were; 6'33, 6'26, 6'29, 6'28, 6'29 for 5 tempo miles in 32'25 (6'29). These were done on the North Circular Road and the race line for the GLR this Sunday was painted on the road and the mile markers are already hung up on the poles. This pace was faster than my normal tempo runs (due to my surprise run in Reading) and it was the first tempo training run i've done since February which made this feel tough. There is more in the locker though and a sub 30 min 5 mile looks a real possibility this summer if I find the right race. 1 ml w/d then at 9'30 pace.

    Total 7 mls in 51'13 (7'19)

I should have text ya today, although I wouldn't have done tempo after last nights session and I was up and done nice and early, before you even woke!

Yeah i'm pacing the half, 1'40 or 1'50 not sure which one yet. I'd fancy myself to pace 1'30 but they'd never let me.

Rest day today, knee is a little tender but more worrying is the acute pain in my lower back i picked up after the tempo last night. Quite remeniscint of the pre rotterdam injury i had last year. I'm sure i'll be fine for Sunday's pacing duties but i gotta go to someone when i get back to London as something is not quite right there. Best to nip it in the bud now before the Berlin training starts in earnest.

McMillan gives you 3:17 but that's a leap, will you have the endurance for it come Oct? ;)

    didn't say I was targetting 3.17 either :D
Sure I haven't even started marathon training, I'll see how the race series goes before making a final decision on the target...

C'mon now Ray, you're mentoring those poor innocents through the marathon, show them how to plan ahead and train accordingly.

    ^ Get a room

    Fri 29th April, 8 x 400m with 100 secs rest on the track at UL. I had intended on doing 10 of these but i was feeling it a bit after the tempo on Wednesday night. After a mile warm up i ran;

77, 77, 78, 77, 77, 77, 78, 76. Happy with these times and consistency, they're faster than the 2 times i ran this session last November in UCD. 7th rep felt unnaturally tough, due to the blazing sun and strong wind so i called it a day after 8. 10'18 for 2 miles of the fast stuff, only 17 secs faster than my 2 mile pb of 10'35 from 2006. I still have work to do clearly. 1 ml w/d for 4 mls in total.

Was there puking? Apparently it doesn't count unless there's puking.
