    Lads.

    XBOX yea?

    Or PS3 possibly.

    Seriously, whichever is cheapest.

    One is desperate here...

360, is it? That's a good bit cheaper than a PS3. If you're looking for a new one you won't find much variation in the prices, as there's very little profit from hardware.

If you're talking about an old school Xbox, I have one knocking about that you could take off my hands! :)

Nah, it's a 360 I'm looking for but thanks anyway!

I just don't have an awful lot of money and amn't exactly experienced in console buying ways so was wondering if there was some super sekkrit place that sells cheap ones :pac:

    One can always dream :p

Too bad a Ps3 is almost a months rent to buy

My only advice would be to not get fooled into buying a crap bundle. A lot of places will force you to buy a bundle so they can make a bit of profit from it. I got mine pretty soon after release, and had to get a bundle with King Kong! Hard to believe that's almost 5 years ago! Of course it's been replaced as the original succumbed to the RRoD, just within extended warranty, thankfully!

Also, get one with a hard drive. The capacity isn't too important if you're only going to use it to save games and maybe download Arcade ones. There's a 4GB version out next Friday for €199, whereas the current 250GB one is €250. You can use USB sticks as storage up to 16GB, so that can be handy. I guess it depends how cheap you want to go!

Anyway, I think HMV or Xtravision are probably the best places to go. I find that shops that specialise in games have the best ways to shaft you! The games are always more expensive, and the staff are rarely any more knowledgeable.

I would really like an XBox but the house I'm living in next year will have at least 3 or 4 or something like that so there really isn't any point.

Just got Supersonic Racers and its so awesome, I'm willing myself not to play it because I need to study. Can't wait for no exams, I'm going to play that, Mario Galaxy 2 and Crash Bandicoot. And probably some Left for Dead and Team Fortress 2, I need to practice for netsoc or I will have my ass handed to me at the first lan night. Though that will probably happen anyway, they are way too good

I played Street Fighter for the first time ever yesterday and GUESS WHAT? I beat D4RK ONION :D

He'll come on here and make silly excuses like "Pfft, it was only 1 round" and "I was using a pad, I can't play with a pad" and "BLAH BLAH BLAH" but really, a win is a win and I'm happy out :D

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

It was only one round! Not even a game! At least Synco got a whole match like :P

Who cares?! I never played it before! And you LOST.

I'm catching up with you on Rock Band too... 's only a matter of time before I'm better...

Oh no, pure skill was involved! I had those quarter circle forwards and medium punchs down pat!

As a Top 8 rank and seed in Ireland, I never button bash :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,532 ✭✭✭Ginja Ninja

I honestly never expected to see you in a dick waving contest with your girlfriend DO, paranoid much?

Also, what do you play SSF4 on?

Pffft. Hardcore players use pads - for the extra challenge

*goes off to suck at SF

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,122 ✭✭✭ironictoaster

I was just thinking can you really button bash in SF4? Going back to the older games for SNES/Megadrive it never really worked (for me anyways...)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,893 ✭✭✭Davidius

Sure it does. It's the equivalent of flailing unpredictably in a fight.

It's not really gonna happen, but if you mix a small amount of skill with a little bit of button-bashing I suppose you've a small chance that you'll play perfectly. It is a random event after all, button bashing.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

Button bashing is reserved more for games like Tekken where series of random buttons give you endless different chains of moves. In SF there's a set of normal moves with one button presses and command moves (move the stick press a button) so button bashing is highly ineffective.

Been playing F-Zero GX with my brother, and Super Mario Soccer with various friends. Both great fun. Some Gamecube games (i.e some of the Nintendo ones) are timeless.

+1! F-Zero GX is one of my favourite games ever. So fast and twitchy! o_o

Here's what I started playing today! Brilliant fun, but I'm exhausted right now so it's far too demanding for me in my current state. Can't wait to try again, though, it's such wonderfully reaction-based arcade fun.

It's become self evident that I grind too much in Pokémon.

    Nidoking: level 34
    Amphoros: level 34
    Pidgeot: level 36
    Espeon: level 33
    Typhlosion: level 39
    Lapras: level 34

I'm at lake of rage >_<

    serious over-grinding
I was really pissed off that I couldn't capture that red garydos thing at lake of rage, I would have reloaded and retried, but I was playing on an iPod that auto-saved directly at the end of the battle :(
then, I had to upgrade my iPod to iOS4, and I lost my damn save-file
    ffs :(

Now normally I'd feel bad for someone in this case, but this is why you don't pirate!
