    Lance fan?

Apparently some Fox News station in Florida reported the Onion story as fact

The report was pulled from their website but there's a discussion here:

No I'm not a Lance fan at all, just making a general observation about the onion website. It used to be a lot better 10 years ago

Its the type of thing you grow tired of after a while. Its probably just as funny to a new reader now as it was to you 10 years ago.

That Lance Onion article.... I am still waiting for the punchline. Seems like the onion has gone stale. I should have known because the movie was terrible. Notable exception of the Britany Spears wannabee and of course Stephen Segal in "Cockpuncher".

I actually thought it was very good, a little bit of a dig at the irony and simplicity really.

Note sure I like the tone of the article - it would have been better journalism to stick to the facts without trying to undermine Novitzky. Still the story is there ....

The tide seems to have turned. Take a look at the cover story tag line on Pro Cycling; "Can the sport handle the truth?". I skimmed through the article in Easons and they're not even debating whether he was a doper or not anymore.
    http://magazine.bikeradar.com/2011/01/04/new-issue-of-procycling-out-now/

There is also gonna be a big article in Sports Illustrated in the next week or so that will probably drive the final nail in, centred around Livestrong activities. Thats according to the folks on this thread: http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=11579

Very strong language to be broadcasting. It really puts it up to LA - telling him to sue for libel if he can prove Kimmage (and the Dutch broadcaster) wrong.

Wonder if he considers Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault and Indurains 5 tour victories to be frauds as well........

All have either failed drug tests or had very strong allegations made about possible drug use.

But they were all pre EPO, with the possible exception of Indurain, no?

He may well do, but he was discussing Armstrong.

    Yes
But the topic does come up a lot…
It does. But I can’t name a Tour de France winner going back to… well, I’ve got be careful here or I’ll get myself in trouble. I know one that I’m prepared to give the benefit of the doubt to. When you know what’s going on in this sport, how can there be any other issue than doping until it’s sorted out? How can I hold these people up to be authentic champions when I know and I’ve listened to the lies that are now coming to the surface?

He's referring to Lemond. He says it in another interview I'm trying to locate.

I remember that interview. I think it was in the Sunday times.

No fan at all of Armstrong but very uncomfortable with this witch-hunt ....

The problem as I see it is, if you want to clean up the sport you cannot let the most high profile suspect go untried. If Lance is allowed be the greatest ever champion, and suspicions unpursued, the anti-doping only matters if you are unsuccessful.

There will never in my opinion ever be a cheat free sport;cycling has always had advantage-takers, even before the doping. Wasn't there a guy once in Le Tour who took a train part of the way?

Its stuff like this that is coming back to bite him.

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/24714560/Michael-Anderson-s-Testimony-On-Lance-Armstrong-Doping

.... and all the other stuff. No other cycling champion has used their power and money quite so ruthlessly to defend a fraud. Now maybe thats because there has never been a cyclist as powerful and they all would have tried. Anyways its all falling apart for him now.

TBF the greatest ever cyclist was Eddy Merckx and he was thrown out of the Giro for doping yet is widely admired and treated with acclaim....

Edit Cannot believe I'm even partially defending Armstrong .........
