The director's reasoning was that he was banking on an SS solo film with Galactus as the primary villain, and he said that he didn't want to 'blow' the reveal of Galactus in his true form in FF2.

Anyway, I'd be willing to give Fox a chance. First Class was impressive and they seemed to let Ridley Scott do his thing with Prometheus, so maybe they have finally learnt to not be retarded with their big money projects.

Great reasoning; neuter the big finale of your current project, to bank on the next

In reality they probably just bottled the notion of presenting a giant pink dude. ;)

There's a fan theory out there that proposes Loki losing was actually part of some grander masterplan of his.

I'm not overly convinced of that myself - fan theories always have to be taken with a pinch of salt - although impossible to call because Whedon et al may well retcon it into the sequel even if that was never the intention.

The thing with Whedon is that you could never tell if he ran with fan ideas or it was his plan all along. It is a fairly cool idea tbf. Had the invasion succeeded then he wins, contingency of getting infinity gauntlet if he loses; so still wins

Just saw this now, but in case anyone had ordered the fancy special edition phase one box set, it's now up in limbo due to a lawsuit from the company that made the case. Essentially, Marvel had bought the rights to use the case in the film, but not in merchandising. So this edition is on hold until they come up with alternative packaging and will probably be out in Spring.

Other editions should still be out at the end of the month, I think.

The version of Galactus in the Ultimate series resembled a large cloud or metroid shower as that version was made up of thousands and thousands of seperate units.

So maybe the FF version was riffing on that.

they do, but Loki gets an escort straight back to Asgard, which is all he wanted in the first place. I really hope they run with that angle in the sequel or in the next Thor film (be interesting to see if the events in The Avengers will play a role in the individual sequels, surely they will)

Yep got the steelbook version myself too. Very disappointed with the extras. Only one disc! Wait for Christmas where they'll bring out the special edition and we'll all dig into out pockets again!

Was in HMV today and it was extremely difficult not walking out with the steel case! I know i'm gonna buy the super-duper edition since i don't have any of the Avengers Phase 1 films on blu....

Anyone remember the line from Odin in Thor about Mjolnir having no rival as a weapon to destroy and a tool to build. Thor used the hammer to destroy the bifrost and I bet he rebuilt it explaining how he could come back to Earth and how he brought Loki back to Asgard.

there's a line in Avengers where Loki first meets Thor and he says "how much dark magic did the allfather have to muster to conjure you here?" so Thor didnt come back via the bifrost. Stands to reason there's other ways in and out of Asgard.

I know but I still think my theory has merit, hope to get an answer in Thor 2. Also in Thor Loki tells Heimdall he knows ways in and out of Asgard.

Thor father sent him to earth to get Loki, using alternative methods, but now that Thor has the teseract he can rebuild the bi-frost, he used it to get back to asguard with Loki, its limitless power,

Yeah the extras on the BD are terrible. I think the US release has so much more in that regard. Does the Steelbook from HMV have an extra's disc?
