I'd almost exactly that setup in an old flat (although the rings were home made). Great for muscle up drills, messing with the levers and spending time upside down. you can get some high volume in just by tipping away at stuff throughout the day. Watch the shoulders though and take the rings down if you plan on getting hammered (It won't end well).

My home gym has really turned things around for me. Its great having everything in your house and not having to worry about working around other people. All my lifts have gone up in a huge way since January.

Mine is also starting to come together, spent the day clearing out the sitting room for it.

    22fUT.jpg

    ~100kg of 1" weights
    10kg medicine ball/basketball
    Skipping rope (on the window)
    Iron Gym™
    MTB with slick tires
    Wrapping paper ready for Christmas
Car mat that I didn't bother to move to take the picture

Bought two rubber 25mm mats from B&Q today that should do a grand job of protecting the floor. Looking forward to using it now, but still going to have to go to the gym to do any heavy lifting.

Anyone know where I can get Rings/chain like these or something like them, just to hang off a chin up bar as shown in the picture, for doing inverted rows?

Amazon do a set, the straps are just normal webbing straps you should be able to get in Halfords/B&Q etc. Not sure where you could get rings in a shop though.

They had them in Fighting Fit, out of stock now but they're bound to get more in.

I assume that was Powerhouse fitness you got all that from. Was looking on that myself recently. Hoping to get something similar myself minus the lat pulldown attachment, but with some dumbbell handles and the dip attachment for the power rack.

Did you attempt any haggling with them? Really want to get my own set up, but want to get a decent deal at the same time.

I was in the factory that make Bodymax stuff recently (I was thinking of stocking it on irishlifting.com), they offered me stuff for half the price I pay for my stuff but I just wouldn't stock it. The tube they use is 1.2mm compared to 2mm in mine, thats one of the reasons the holes have to be 4 inches apart compared to 2 inches in my racks and the reason they only punch through one side of the front of the rack. The downsides of this are that when setting up safties to be at the bottom of your bench they could be 3 inches over where your full rom should be. Also if you want to do any work outside the front of the rack it's impossible.
Also just little corners cut make all the difference, the main uprights only have bolts left to right, not up and down and left to right like they should for stability, up top there are nuts that are welded inside the tubing which often don't line up and wont add to the strength and the j hooks aren't double reinforced like mine.

I know I'm biased but here is an independent review I saw last week:

One of the days i was in last week they got a pretty good amount of them in. So if you head to Fighting Fit you should be sorted with a set of rings. Can't quote 100% on price but somewhere between 50-60 euros for a pair set of rings

This is my idea of the perfect home gym, all you need, barbell, weights, bench and rack. Been having this argument with friend bout gym v home, but imo if you have those 4 things you can do everythin, maybe a threadmill to make it completely self sufficent but thats only for the dark winter days when ya cant run outside. 700 euro for all that, seems excellent valve, nice job.

yeah, powerhouse fitness. i rang and asked for a discount, she gave me 10% off and the lat pulldown which wasnt included originally but is now. i've no need for lat pulldown anyway. but yeah, she obviously works on a commission and has leeway to give you some money off as long as you ask

space of holes on the rack are grand for me, obviously no problem with squats and with bench press it fits perfectly. i can touch the barbell off my chest but also let it onto the spotter bars above my head and crawl underneath if i can't do the rep. the guy in that bb.com thread dropped 50kg from 3 foot, come on! and the rack assembled fine for me, everything lined up. i dont think the small problems you mentioned are worth double the price tbh but it's your call.

ya, it's pretty good, ive no plans to get a threadmill though, 50 acres out the back to go running in! my father wants me to get a mat to do deadlifts on so i wont damage the concrete floor in the shed, and i definitely need an EZ curl bar, my wrists are killing me. apart from that, it's all good.

i dont think the small problems you mentioned are worth double the price tbh but it's your call.

My power rack that is the same weight, my flat incline bench and my 140kg olympic set with tri grip plates and a steel sleeve bar (yours is a cast iron sleeve bar) comes to 780 including delivery and I would also do 10% off so I don't know where you got double the price.

As I said I have the option of stocking this stuff but I wouldn't risk it. The bb.com poster had 30kg and a bar and it buckled the safties, thats crazy and as he said if he was benching heavy and had a problem would you want to be under 100kg plus falling toward your face after seeing what half it did to the safties?

Here is another example of what I think sums up Bodymax stuff. I don't sell either of these products btw, the first is a powertec work bench. If you look closely there is a clever mechanism which rotates the bench back on the frame for shoulder pressing. This is necessary because when you incline the back pad the uprights that hold the bar will be too far behind your head.

Then there is the bodymax copy. They completely knock off the design and look of the powertec, even copying the colour. They don't bother with the mechanism in the middle for rotating the bench back for shoulder pressing because it's very hard to tell from the picture and by the time you find out it doesn't rotate it's too late, you have already bought it and put it together... (its the exact same with their cf500 lever gym and cf530 multi lever gym vrs the powertec they have knocked off)
    112145.jpg

    112146.jpg

They even have a mail order return one that someone else learned the hard way about and had to pay to send it back to them!

Hey any ideas how much this would cost to deliver to Cork. 800 quid would be decent if I could split it with the bro. Looking for power rack, bench, 140 kg worth of plates, plus preferably 40 kg worth of dumbell weight/dumbells( always been a dumbell bencher). It all looks good on Irish Lifting but the dumbells are like 2 grand for 50kg, whats the story there? Added it all to the cart on the site but couldn't figure out the shipping price, free above 500 euro?? If so class

Regarding the dumbbells, that price is for multiple fixed weight dumbbells like you'd see in a gym. If you just want handles, look under the olympic bars category.

Delivery is free for orders over €500. You could pop them an email if you want more details.

    Hi,

It's this package that he bought. Prices appear to have gone up since he bought. Delivery is a little under 50 pounds but I'd advice you to email them (or chat to them on live chat) and ask for free delivery if you decide to buy. You could ask them about the weight of the bench whilst you're at it as it doesn't seem to be quoted on the website.

On a side note, I've been considering this package since last month but the price recently went up from £779.99 to £1,007.99. There goes that plan!!!!

Some very good home gyms on here. I think that for the sake of thoroughness, we should have a boards gym session where we all visit each home gym to make sure that they're in good working order...

This thread gave me 'itchy trigger fingers'... I've just ordered a rack, bench and oly weights set :D

I've put my current set up for sale on Adverts. Do you think it's a reasonable starting price? I know it'll not fetch this but I might get a lower offer - especially if someone from Donegal spots it. The advert is here (mods please remove if this isn't allowed).

They're not, the 2K price is for the set from 25kg to 50kg.

50kg DBs are €175 each, €3.50 per kg.

Give them a call for the price for shipping, they're sound, but i think it is free over €500
