This is the very start of the whole Launch process. The Crawler arrived at pad 39A and picked up the Mobile Launch Platform a few days ago. This was the launch platform used by Discovery on STS-131. The platform was moved back to the VAB to begin stacking for Endeavour's 134.

Just as a point of interest 134 Commander Mark Kelly
    jsc200101916.jpg
is the twin brother of NASA astronaut Scott Kelly
    484pxscottjkelly.jpg

Intrestingly is STS 134 gets delayed unti November which looks like it could happen that Both Mark and Scott will be in sapce together. Mark as Commander of Endeavour and Scott as commander of expidition 26 on the Station. First twins in space:)

Decision will be taken in the next few days about the STS 134 flight. Looks like the payload AMS will not be ready in time and could push 134 back to November or even into 2011. This would mean 133 could fly first or even 134 fly anyway and AMS payload could fly on the elusive "extra 135" flight. Beeker drooling at the possibility:D
We should know in the next few days.

Looks like 134 is going to be delayed until November with 133 flying first in September.
At least it stretches out the schedule. Must talk to Mrs beeker about a holiday in Florida in November:D:D

    Nasa Memo
    Memo:

With the recent decision by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) program to change out its superconducting magnet for a permanent magnet, it's clear the
STS-134/ULF-6/AMS launch currently targeted at the end of July is no longer viable. The Space Shuttle Program and International Space Station Program met
with Space Operations Mission Directorate Senior Management to discuss manifest options. From that discussion on Friday, the following is what we know
today that will influence our manifest planning and decisions for all remaining flights:

    * We now will plan to fly STS-133/ULF-5 before STS-134/ULF-6/AMS
    * With STS-134 moving after STS-133, STS-133/Discovery now becomes the Launch-On-Need (LON) vehicle for the STS-132/ULF-4 mission that is targeted for
    a May 14, 2010 launch.
    * We will hold STS-133/ULF-5 on its current target date of September 16, 2010.
    * AMS program management has stated they will be ready to ship to KSC for payload processing in preparation for STS-134/ULF-6/AMS in late August 2010.
This delivery date will support a launch of STS-134 in the mid-November 2010 time-frame. We need to let AMS work through its magnet change-out activity and
see how that progresses before establishing a target launch date for STS-134.
    * Launch dates at the end of CY2010 and early into CY2011 will be challenging due to beta angle cut-outs, ISS vehicle traffic (Soyuz, ATV, HTV), and
YERO. Bottom line is we will continue to evaluate these constraints and will determine a target launch date for STS-134 at a later date. For now, it will
be no earlier than November TBD, 2010 on Endeavour.

Talks are still ongoing on adding STS-135 to the manifest.
If such an addition is finally approved, the shuttle manifest would stretch yet further, well into 2011, with STS-134 slipping to a January-February timeframe, with STS-135 following sometime between March and June.:)

    Oh happy days:):):)

The changeout of the AMS magnet is complete and was successful. Testing still to take place but looks good so far. Now the waiting game starts to see if 134/Endeavour or 133/Discovery flies next. We should know by the end of June and also when:) 135/Discovery flies:):)

It could happen yet on any of the two/three flights left. Lets hope at least one will be visible. No idea on any launch times yet until launch dates are set.

Taller than a 15-story building and more than 27 feet in diameter, the external tank absorbs the 7.8 million pounds of thrust of the three space shuttle main engines and solid rocket boosters during a space shuttle launch. It feeds 145,000 gallons of liquid oxygen and 390,000 gallons of liquid hydrogen to the main engines.by Staff Writers

Commemorating 37 years of successful tank deliveries, NASA and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company will hold a ceremony on Thursday, July 8, at the agency's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to rollout the final external tank for the last space shuttle flight. The last external tank scheduled to fly on a shuttle mission was completed on June 25 by Lockheed Martin workers at Michoud. The tank, designated ET-138, will travel on a wheeled transporter one mile to the Michoud barge dock.
