Absolutely. Good to see Spies getting a good quali in see what he can do off the front row tomorrow. Just hope Rossi and Lorenzos bikes are ok for the race

Its very tough to see him crashing, and I don't anyone would wish him too either, but this season the tyres are on a knife-edge when they cool at all so its very easy to have a crash.

The similarities to Stoner's championship year are very clear, and a good comparison, both crashed heavily and regularly their first year in MotoGP (Lorenzo still doing so at times last season as he learned the limits of the bike) but when they had the chance of winning the title both have shown great consistency and the ability to dominate races

Well Frostie we were proven wrong Lorenzo can crash. just as well it was in qualifying and not the race.

Its been the story of the year so all these front end crashes. Great lap from Pedrosa but most importantly he was very consistent today with a lot of low and mid 57's, combined with three 56's. If he can keep that sort of pace for tomorrow they wont see which way he went.

I'll have to keep an eye on twitter to see what the story is with Lorenzo's engine, he's already lost two this season to blow ups, he has two with high mileage so if this one is damaged he only has one fresh engine for the rest of the year

Yea the blow up at Sachsenring did him no favours and this crash will probably stuff that engine aswell.
Pedrosa was seriously consistant today with some blistering laps looks like he has a good set-up and race pace for tomorrow. He'a also a demon starter so if he can get away quickly no one will catch him...........unless the dreaded front end cold tyre special gets him..

Marc Marquez brilliant quali from him to finish fourth with a dislocated shoulder. And Bradly on pole good job son....

Great to see hayden in the top 3, would like to see him there more often.

Why does stoner have a tantrum every time someone comes near him? at it again towards the end of the session.

Anyway, should make for a decent race tomorrow.

I can only think that he doesn't like the sound of another bike right behind him. Maybe it puts him off! It does seem a bit childish tho. He nearly crashed into Espagaro in retaliation!! Crazy

Rossi has nothing to prove this year and since he's coming back from injury there's no need for him to make his condition worse, that said all this front end crashing certaintly won't help his confidence at all.
I wouldn't worry about him though as he's probably the most motivated rider in the paddock.

Spies with a very deserved pole position he's been getting steadily better over the last few races and I think the confidence boost of signing for the factory Yamaha team was exactly what he needed to drag him up that few tenths of a second on to the front row, now lets see what he can do from pole position at his home race.

As for Casey Stoner and his moaning out on track what he needs is a superpole style set up so no other riders can affect his lap or better still put him into Moto2 and see what he makes of 40 riders in his way not just Espargaro.
Stoners attitude has declined since those heddy days of 2007 when he was virtually invincible now he has a certian demeanor of defeat about him right from race 1in Qatar he's had an I don't need to try attitude it's like he knew he'd be leaving Ducati at seasons end. It'll be interesting to see how his attitude pans out next year in a team with sour face Pedrosa especially since they both have designs on winning the championship.

Anyone watch the 125cc race from Indy? Wasn't a typical 125 race but with Marquez crashing the title is really close now-just 5 points between the top 3.

At the end Marquez short cutted the track and decided to keep racing even though he gained 3 or 4 seconds! He was latter punished and demoted to tenth place

Plenty of people falling off in the 500 race

yea its a really bumpy track and the surface changes don't help either.
Plenty of riders went down in the Moto2 race also

unfortunately a 13 year old rider named Peter Lenz died of injuries sustained on the warm up lap of one of the support races
A 13-year-old motorcycle racer was run over and killed on Sunday after falling off his bike during a warmup lap at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

American Peter Lenz was scheduled to race in a US Grand Prix Racers Union event ahead of the world championship races.

After his crash he was struck by a 12-year-old rival Xavier Zayat who was not hurt.

Lenz was stretchered off the track and rushed to a nearby hospital. He died three hours later.

Lenz had won nine national championships in his six years of riding.

He was the first competitor to die at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 2003 when Tony Renna was killed in an IndyCar race.
    RIP Peter

Didn't see anything about that til now, thats terrible. I know its a freak accident but the AMA need to seriously look at their age limit, and experience requirements, for road racing. Two other young riders have been killed in AMA races during the past year or 18 months so its clear something needs to be looked at.

Whether its circuits or bikes the AMA needs to examine the details of these accidents, its worth remembering what Ben Spies said when asked about racing in the States. He always took an approach that there was two or three corners on almost every circuit where he knew he couldnt crash, I dont think a twelve or thirteen year old has the experience, or attitude, to think like that.

I also remember Neil Hodgson saying somewhere that in the AMA Superbike class anybody with a bike and ZERO experience could go racing and that there'd be a huge gulf in ability between riders and that he'd come across riders who'd be literally doing half the speed he was. This was coming from someone who contested the British Superbike Championship where you have to be a lunatic to succeed.

Seriously fast part of the circuit, really unlucky crash for the following riders Scott Redding and Alex DeAngelis luckily enough nobody was killed.
Maybe it's time to look at the format and reduce the racing numbers to 32 riders that should make it a bit safer.

absolutely disgusted at the way the marshals loaded both riders on to the stretchers they even dropped tomizawa!!

Absolutly the way they bundled Redding on to the stretcher was woeful and they need to really look at how they organise the marshalls etc to stop this happening again.
My thoughts are with poor Tomisawa I'm sure the marshalls dropping him didn't help his condition.

apparently redding is conscious but has leg injuries
