    Hmmmmmmmmmm, You's DO chat so much once My light is off!{I get the message:o}

This is one of the times i regret not having learned the multiquote thingy feature on boards as i have enjoyed the humour, pics, vids very much since i last logged in

Once upon a time the only regular poster on the STS threads who had actually seen a launch in person was Beeker,Then LL went to STS 129 and it was two regulars posting "I've got the T-Shirt:p"posts.

I feel So outnumbered now with only eiljah not having being to a launch yet,boo hoo;).
Dang Stargate is for the moment indisposed to deflate Ego's and act as My spellchecker!:D

Thecommander:Loved that video You posted of the launch from a Camera on the VAB.Beeker once said and i quote"Seeing a Launch in person is better than sex" Well the Earth sure shook for Me watching it:pac::pac::pac:! hope the experiance will stay with You forever.I have a C-90 audio cassete recorded by My late Father on the launch day of STS-1,{other than that the only other thing He left Me was his HUGH nose!:)} It is a treasure to Me,but only play it about once a Year in case it snags and snaps.

Lord LUCAN:enjoyed the Video's You found:) but for obvious reasons i can never thank pictures of the SRB's:(

eiljah:Great to see You post again,if You run out of flags any chance of a Texan hat for Me?:).Have You any idea how much in lost income the excuse for a plan will cost Texas?
Only figure I have confirmation of is that NASA contracts were worth $1.1 Billion per annum to the state of Ohio.

Beeker:You are turning Me into Devils advocate again around here!
until the deciscion was made to turn Leanardo into a permenant module for the ISS NASA.s link had for at least 14 months been saying that STS-132 was going to be the last flight of a Shuttle to carry out an EVA!

Shortly after that the remaining flights link on the NASA site stripped it down to the very basic information about 133&134.and changed 133's planned landing site from Edwards to KSC.It still remains that way and NO mention of a 135 at all:

    http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts133/index.html

    http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts134/index.html

So to be on the safe side i would call the last ever EVA by the STS Programme to be EVA 3 Friday 21st May 2010.
Meanwhile a synopsis of thursdays activityy:

It is connected to the Earth-facing port of the Zarya module, where it will increase the capabilities of the Russian segment of the space station by providing workstations for payloads and the conduct of experiments. Rassvet also provides a new docking port for Russian spacecraft.

STS-132 spacewalkers Bowen and Good successfully tightened the bolts connecting the space-to-ground antenna dish and boom, eliminating the gap. They also removed the tether that had been holding the dish and boom together and released the launch locks, allowing the antenna dish to rotate.
This was the second of three STS-132 spacewalks, the 238th conducted by U.S. astronauts, the fifth for Bowen and the third for Good. It was the 145th in support of International Space Station assembly and maintenance, totaling 908 hours, 7 minutes.

    • Third Spacewalk Starts Friday Morning

      Thu, 20 May 2010 09:49:40 PM UTC+0100

The third spacewalk of the mission with astronauts Michael Good and Garrett Reisman is expected to begin at 6:45 a.m. EDT Friday. The spacewalkers will replace the final two batteries on the Port 6 truss. They also will install an ammonia jumper on the Port 4/Port 5 truss and retrieve a power and data grapple fixture from the shuttle's payload bay. The grapple fixture will be installed later on the Zarya module.

    • Crews Opening Rassvet Hatches, Preparing for Spacewalk
The hatches between the International Space Station and its new Russian Rassvet module were opened for the first time at 5:52 a.m. CDT Thursday.
Also known as Mini-Research Module 1, Rassvet is almost 20 feet long, 7.7 feet wide and weighs 11,188 pounds. Carrying almost 6,500 pounds of internal and external cargo to the station, Rassvet has eight science work stations and will be used both as a docking and stowage compartment.
Mission Specialists Mike Good and Reisman prepared for their Friday spacewalk, configuring tools and preparing suits and the airlock. The major task of the spacewalk is to replace the final two of the six batteries being changed out on the Port 6 truss. Four were replaced Wednesday. Spacewalkers also will install an ammonia jumper and take a power and data grapple fixture from Atlantis’ cargo bay into the station. It will be installed later on the Zarya module, to provide a base for the station arm to work in that area.
The crew got about four hours of afternoon free time, until the spacewalk procedure review near the end of their workday. The spacewalkers will spend the night in the Quest airlock with its pressure reduced to 10.2 to psi.

And a short video of the planned 3rd EVA's by Atlantis purpose.

Preperations for EVA 3 well under way now.Targeted start time is 11.45 AM Irish time.Astronaut Michael Good is a member of a Rock/Pop group called Max-Q,which is a group who have been formed since over 20 years ago. Max-Q is not just the name of a band,it is also tech speak for the time of maximum aerodynamic pressure on a launch vehicle.

Does My bum look big in this?
This view of Atlantis' aft section includes the main engines, part of the cargo bay, vertical stabilizer and orbital maneuvering system pods and was taken by the Expedition 23 crew during a survey as the shuttle approached the station prior to docking. As part of the survey and a part of every mission's activities, Atlantis performed a back flip for the rendezvous pitch maneuver. The image was photographed with a digital still camera, using a 400mm lens at a distance of about 600 feet (180 meters).

    What about My hooter?
The Expedition 23 crew snapped this imageof the underside of Atlantis' crew cabin, during a survey of the approaching space shuttle prior to docking with the International Space Station.

Loads of Souvenirs flying on Atlantis' last flight. I wonder how much of it will end up on eBay after they're distributed?

I'll be keeping an eye on eBay for the next few weeks. Most of it is for workers connected with NASA and their families but no doubt some will try and cash in on stuff flown in space.

Hi.ya LL,I personally love the beads of courage idea on one of your links above. It is an American Charity that to some Irish people might seem to borrow filfalures phrase " a bit cheesy"
friends of mine in the US say it does great work!

Your cynicism about the various items being carried aboard for posterity is well placed though, and has a precedent in NASA's history.

I cant see the value in buying something like that on eBay. I'd much prefer an item to have a story than just you being the person with the best offer on eBay.

Also, I'd alway doubt if it was the real deal.

    Thats just me though.

Earth's horizon and the blackness of space provide the backdrop for Atlantis' aft section while it was docked with the International Space Station during the STS-132 mission.
