He will probably top the poll in his constituency as usual. As an electorate, we get what we deserve. :(

Yes when he looses his portfolio position
    he will become a backbencher,
some backbencher with a huge 20,000 + first preference votes...
Poor Willie... a very well respected Politian in Limerick..

He should know better then than making comments about people who run/not run brothels

Well to be honest I know very little about Willie?
But it's good to see his people from Limerick having their say
and by the looks of it he will be gone before the night is out!

Thread re-opened given what's likely to be broadcast on the 9pm news. If people could keep it rational and refrain from the silly pictures, that'd be cool (otherwise this thread won't be viable).

The real question then is why the toads in the green party (particularly Ryan and Gormley, who claim to be above reproach) voted for him in the motion of confidence. Were they ill-informed or did the in fact agree with what he's done?

About time too, he might have been a good Minister for defence but there have to be some ethics in office. You simply cannot lie under oath or commit perjury at that level and expect to get away with it.
The Greens did themselves no favours voting with FF on the no confidence vote, they should have excused themselves. Reckon Gormley relayed to Cowen, "don't expect us to vote on anymore of these FF no confidence votes".

    Good news.
Now, there should be uproar over the sickening way this regime/junta give not one f-cuk about the damage their grubby members do to the body politic and institutions of this country.

It must have been pressure from the greens, because FF would have been perfectly happy to keep him in regardless of his perjury.

It wouldn't have taken a flinch of FF to let that sort of shenanigans slide.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out Willie. Enjoy the backbenches with the Bull

The greens would have been perfectly happy with him too only for Dan Boyles twitter comments. Spineless shower the lot of them.

Where does this leave the government? They just said they have complete confidence in O'Dea and therefore they endorsed his actions. His actions have now made his position untenable yet last night they said they were fine.

How can they honestly stay in government after saying perjury is fine?

Why? Because this is Ireland. This is Fianna Fáil. They have no shame and they the hardest necks in the country.
    No-one will cause uproar.
    No-one will demand further resignations.
There won't be protests on the streets.
And come the next general election, they'll be voted back in again.
