Mcanns telling the truth or not?

I am very interested in this politics and public opinion of this scenario , I believe the mcanns are vigorously trying to block the publication of a book by the former lead detective in the case who alleges that the mcanns were invovled with the "accidental death of their daughter" .

Are the Mcanns telling the truth or not? They believe that their daughter was kidnapped .

I'd like to post another poll if the book that the mcanns are trying to block , is allowed to be published in the near future as well to see if the opinion is any different .

I believe they are telling the truth, but more importantly, does anyone else think Jerry and Kate look a lot alike eachother?

I think you are giving too much intellectual weight to this issue by referring to its "politics".

    It's tabloid trash, not politics.

    Random interjection;

Maddie is an anagram for "Im dead"...

I genuinely couldn't see them 'hiding' a dead kid which is the only way they could not be telling the truth

Horrible **** happens, I'm sure they haven't slept right for leaving their kids unsupervised since

Bad parenting?? Parenting is at a very high standard these days, I remember driving from mayo to wexford many times with 5 kids in the back of the car with no babychairs or seatbelts. Which was common...

    1. Where is the "I have no idea" option?
    2. This thread won't end well.

Where ever the girl rests, if she rests, I hope she does so in peace. RIP.
    End of story.

It's debatable... If they had anything to do with it or whatever, they are thoroughly despicable.

He shouldn't be discussing an ongoing case in public. If he has adequate evidence, prosecute them. If he doesn't, **** up!

What is fact, is that the Portugese police have been shown to be an incompetent force. There is little fact known about this case, just conjecture and circumstance.

And wouldn't you if you knew you were innocent?

/btw there is no body so to say accidental death is jumping the gun, so to speak, no?
Are the Mcanns telling the truth or not?

How would we know the answer to that, other than what we have seen and heard from them on TV and interviews?
They believe that their daughter was kidnapped .

Of course they do, so do the Police.

You are welcome to do that, but wait and see how this one goes first.;)

Rather than the blocking being an admission of guilt, I'd be more inclined to believe it's down to simply not wanting such a macabre book being published. I'm sure the skewed "If they've nothing to hide, they'd leave it go ahead" logic will be used, which is... illogical.
Are the Mcanns telling the truth or not?

    Wish the Poll was public.

Can't understand anyone thinking they are lying.

Both of them always looked distraught and trustworthy to me.

It's horrific. I was upset when I lost my camera in a taxi while on holidays in France.. can't imagine what it would be like to lose my daughter!

I think the parents could only sleep with exhaustion and the thoughts of what's happening to their child at the moment and who she is with or how she has been tortured or killed.

Whoever is responsible for child kidnapping anywhere in the world needs capital punishment.

It's up to the investigators to deal with the McCann case. I don't think the public should jump in and criticize the parents if there is nothing proven against them.

I love the annoyance of people that they say "Are they still going on about their daugther?". If it was me, I'd annoy the hell out of every c*** on earth until I found/ found out what happened to my daughter.

I think that the Portuguese police guy who wrote that book had no right to say those things. I doubt the McCanns [accidentally] killed their daughter while on holidays, and then made up a kidnapping. It doesnt make sense given the fact that they were enjoying dinner with their friends. Madeleine was abducted, full stop. It's awful enough without some amateur cop writing malicious conspiratory theories that can only blacken the McCanns names and take the focus away from actually trying to find Maddie. I really feel sorry for them and hope the poor child isn't suffering, where ever she is...:(

Does it not worry you that the Mcanns would refuse to answer 20 questions that would help investigators with the dispaearence of their daughter , and that they would refuse to participate in the re-inaction of the disapearance of their daughter ???

Jaycee Dugard's case would have given them hope as she was kidnapped when she was 11 in 1991 and was only found last year, 19 years later.

The fact that they where enjoying dinner while their children where unwatched, that far away, made it strange and let the Conspiracy theories go unchecked.

Still, I don't think they did it. Where they irresponsible on the day? Yes. If they had behaved more responsibly on that day would she still be here? Yes!

They have to bear that guilt and responsibility and I empathise with that.

That they had dinner with friends and the children where not there?

I was watching a programme about this a while back- the McCanns and the friends that they went on holidays with went back to the hotel and re-enacted the hour or so around the time she was taken. I can't remember who found her missing first, Kate I think, but anyway, it was one of the fathers (not Jerrys) turn to check on all the kids before Kates and he actually didn't go right into the room to physically see the children, he only listened at the door. If he'd looked in, it might have given Madeleine an extra half hour:(

Wouldn't have made a difference IMO! After she was snatched(if thats what happened) it would have been very easy for whoever took her to disappear into the darkness, and mobilising a significant search party wouldn't have made a difference! If it had been during the day then it would be a bit different alright, more chance of being seen etc!!

Fair enough, but one of the mothers who was checking on another set of kids at the same time as that guy who never properly checked saw a man carrying a child wearing pjs with no coat, blanket etc. away from the apartment complex on her way back to the tapas bar. That was most likely Maddie!!

If true, would that be enough to think they are guilty? Again, it's all conjecture. I have doubts about the trustworthiness of the Portugese police as well. It looks bad for them that they haven't caught anyone. Arousing suspicions about the McCann's gets them off the hook.

I can't believe that more ppl think that the McCanns had something to do with it according to the poll at the top of the thread....They must be VERY good actors...seriously though, a parent couldn't bottle that up for this long, they'd have formed a suicide pact by now if they'd really killed their daughter.

It would depend on what questions were being asked, wouldn't it? There are no facts related to the case which points the finger at the McCanns. You're relying on statements from the Portugese police who have as good as said that they are giving up the investigation. What possible motivation would they have for killing their daughter?

Yeah, the Portuguese police were so ****e at their job that when they ran out of stuff to do, they said, 'hey, lets make the parents suspects. i bet we get a long run out of that.' The whole situation is corrupt.

That's the sad thing, as the days go on, the likelihood of Maddie getting justice gets more and more remote.

I don't know enough to pick an answer. I mean, all I have to go on (ye too) is the media coverage.

But without evidence, innocent until proven guillty and all that.
