I was watching a programme about this a while back- the McCanns and the friends that they went on holidays with went back to the hotel and re-enacted the hour or so around the time she was taken. I can't remember who found her missing first, Kate I think, but anyway, it was one of the fathers (not Jerrys) turn to check on all the kids before Kates and he actually didn't go right into the room to physically see the children, he only listened at the door. If he'd looked in, it might have given Madeleine an extra half hour:(
Wouldn't have made a difference IMO! After she was snatched(if thats what happened) it would have been very easy for whoever took her to disappear into the darkness, and mobilising a significant search party wouldn't have made a difference! If it had been during the day then it would be a bit different alright, more chance of being seen etc!!

Fair enough, but one of the mothers who was checking on another set of kids at the same time as that guy who never properly checked saw a man carrying a child wearing pjs with no coat, blanket etc. away from the apartment complex on her way back to the tapas bar. That was most likely Maddie!!

Does it not worry you that the Mcanns would refuse to answer 20 questions that would help investigators with the dispaearence of their daughter , and that they would refuse to participate in the re-inaction of the disapearance of their daughter ???

If true, would that be enough to think they are guilty? Again, it's all conjecture. I have doubts about the trustworthiness of the Portugese police as well. It looks bad for them that they haven't caught anyone. Arousing suspicions about the McCann's gets them off the hook.

In my opinion ,if i had no guilt with the disapearance of anybody, I would have no trouble in answering ANY QUESTIONS? AM I NAAIEVE?

In other words , if i was innocent , I would not care what questions were asked of ME !!!!

I can't believe that more ppl think that the McCanns had something to do with it according to the poll at the top of the thread....They must be VERY good actors...seriously though, a parent couldn't bottle that up for this long, they'd have formed a suicide pact by now if they'd really killed their daughter.

It would depend on what questions were being asked, wouldn't it? There are no facts related to the case which points the finger at the McCanns. You're relying on statements from the Portugese police who have as good as said that they are giving up the investigation. What possible motivation would they have for killing their daughter?

Yeah, the Portuguese police were so ****e at their job that when they ran out of stuff to do, they said, 'hey, lets make the parents suspects. i bet we get a long run out of that.' The whole situation is corrupt.

That's the sad thing, as the days go on, the likelihood of Maddie getting justice gets more and more remote.

That's why I wished the Poll was public.

I am very interested in this politics and public opinion of this scenario , I believe the mcanns are vigorously trying to block the publication of a book by the former lead detective in the case who alleges that the mcanns were invovled with the "accidental death of their daughter" .

Are the Mcanns telling the truth or not? They believe that their daughter was kidnapped .

I'd like to post another poll if the book that the mcanns are trying to block , is allowed to be published in the near future as well to see if the opinion is any different .

    add a third option.... " Could i really give a f... "

I don't know enough to pick an answer. I mean, all I have to go on (ye too) is the media coverage.

Media coverage: Over hyped sensationalist bullshít.

They need to sell a story, which can cause reports to be unbiased and quite wrong.

    Thread lacks atari jaguar option.

    Secondly,
Who gives a flying f**k anymore? the mc cann story is old news. Sorry if that seems cold hearted to some but it's like people who get elvis impersonators at their party..

My personnal opinion is that they had something to do or can be implicated in some way.

But without evidence, innocent until proven guillty and all that.

i don't think they had anything to do maddies disappearance.

its an absolute horrific thing to have happened and the thoughts of not knowing where your daughter is, is enough to send shivers up my spine.

the book that portuguese cop is trying to release is a farce, if they were guilty, they would have been arrested and charged in portugal.

i still have hope she may be found alive. (i'd like to believe she was abducted for a childless family, not a paedophile ring*)

    * yes i know, very optimistic....

    1. They're not telling the truth.
    2. The only reason we're posting on this is because she's white, female, and from a well-to-do family.

    1. you were there? oh do tell us!

    2. yep, because we can relate to the family.

I think Robert Murat or whatever his name was had something to do with it. The renactment awhile ago where the two fathers met and were talking on the hill when the mother saw the man holding the child fitted his description and the fact he is a translator.... i just think he had something to do with her disappearance. I think she was a beautifull child and was taken to order. But then my opinion could be wrong. I do agree that the parents were targetted after all leads had left nothing. Easiest thing to do in the eyes or the portuguese police was to point the finger at the parents because they had no where left to turn to.

Based on? Or do you mean "It looks to me like they're not telling the truth"? In which case that's just an opinion.

    Like Victoria Climbié?
female, and from a well-to-do family.
    Like Peter Connelly (Baby P)?

Gah, that cynicism gets on my tits...

She is/was a western child, the media is at her family's disposal, so yes, that's why she gets the coverage, not the kids who are trafficked in Thailand - and yes, that's wrong. But it's not because she's "white, female and from a well-to-do family" ffs...

I might sound like a **** but they milked it for as much publicity as they could.

Your child disappearing makes you do crazy stuff like spreading the word out to as many people as possible all right...

    wasn't it already published?

tbh I never cared, not after it emerged that they left her alone while they went out for tapas

fcuk them and their accusations that police didn't take leads seriously.. if it was a working class family they'd be done for neglect

I think had my child been taken from my apartment while on holidays i too would use any avenue i could and milk it for as long as possible. In todays media you are hot for as long as you can hold the front page and i would do anything in my power to ensure my childs face was seen every day. I would make sure people were Sick of hearing about it and sick of seeing my childs face because that way they will never forget and will recognise my child should someone sight her/him.
