I was recommended to drop down to ordinary maths when I've never gotten lower than a C in an exam... I was pretty much told I wasn't able but my mother decided differently and after a few words at a parent teacher meeting that changed...

Your teacher was mad to even suggest that. Higher level Maths for the JC covers most of the course for Pass maths for the LC. Everybody should really try and stick at it for the Junior Cert because it will be really beneficial for you in the LC.

If you get a C you should definitely stay in Honours, that's what every techer says to me anyway. I'm sure I got a D for my pres (I won't find out for a few weeks) and my teacher still kinda wants me to stay in honours. Don't mind that teacher.

Seriously? I've failed a couple of times and my teacher is still adamant that she wants me to do HL.

What you get in the JC in Maths does not matter a whit unless you intend to leave after the Junior.

Doing HL for JC, even if you get an E, is still more worthwhile than getting an A in OL, plus, you might surprise yourself and pass the exam.

You will never know if you don't try.

Why does everyone blame the teacher?

Sometimes it is the fault of a poor teacher how you score. I know you are going to say just study it at home but some subjects, you need more information than is provided by the text book and tbf you cannot be expected to google or wikipedia every topic in the syllabus to find that extra information you require.

To be fair, I wasn't really blaming my teacher, yeah she's grand at teaching but when it comes to some things I may not get it right first time around but telling me that I put no effort into my work which I may have spent ages doing and saying I'm obviously not coping with maths and telling me to drop down is hardly the way to go.

Teachers are there to support and encourage their pupils to do well, she wasn't helping me in anyway so who else am I supposed to blame for this.
And not every teacher in the world is perfect. I know of a lot of teachers who do deserve to be blamed for students doing bad...

had a realy bad teacher for maths in second yr and most of first yr but im good at maths so i just sat down read examples and figured it out. it took extra effort but it was worth it. the stuff that i didnt get i asked my dad or my Business teacher (who also teaches maths) she was helpful. now im aiming for a B in HL

    Geography - 83%

Only 3 more results left to get now Irish (should get that tomorrow), Maths, CSPE (may get that tomorrow but our teacher had to go through all of them again because the corrector marked them out of the wrong number of marks so they were all wrong)
