Well, as we're all starting/have started our mocks this month, we can discuss our exams here.

No asking for answers/what papers you got/what came up, it against JC charter rules!

Good luck to those of you who have started!

Thanks Damien. Mine started today with Maths Paper 1 and French (so boring by the way). Luckily, I'm not in tomorrow though (don't do the subjects) though I'm back in on Wednesday.

What about you guys? When did / do yours start?

Mine start on the 10th with English & Maths Paper 1. Easy enough. :)

We have a week's break for mid-term in between our exams, so I'll spend all that week studying. I've done virtually nothing yet!

Oh I know I was actually just acknowledging it was a good idea.
Again good luck in the mocks.

Where will we discuss how we found each mock? New thread for each mock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Opps. Sure why not? It will mean different subjects will be easy to find.

But if all the subjects go on in one thread then I could be saying that I found the geography question on volcanos very hard and you might not have done the geography mock yet. So you know what is on it.

    That goes against this though:

What is to discuss so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

When you have them, how long you will be doing them for, general, broad, comments like "I found Geography very hard." etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,840 ✭✭✭Luno

Yeah WanderingSoul your right! It would be better to just have it more in general!!

Whats everyone least looking forward to?
Mine would probably be maths and tech graph...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

    Irish 1 & 2, English 2 (don't know any quotes  ).

What poems are you doing for Irish??

I am so terrible at English can never remember quotes from Romeo & Juliet - get words mixed up and the whole thing ends up in a mess!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,218 ✭✭✭padocon

And in return I can't say "What did you find hard?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

Ugh, I'm doing R&J too. I have quotes for that and my novel, but not peotry.

Irish: An tOzon and other ones which I can't remember.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭WanderingSoul

In a particular subject like Geography, no, although you could probably say that and I could answer something like "I found Q5d part 2 very hard." but no specifics like "the volcanoes question".

Come to think of it I must learn some poetry quotes. All I have is R&J quotes.

I done poems but poets were never really brought up in class?
Just that you would want to include it in your answer...

We did "Dulce et decorum est" by Wilfred Owen. Is that the same poem you did padocon?

Meaning-"it is sweet and proper" and part of a LATIN quote from a poem by horace sometime in ancient greece. Full quote is "Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori" or something like and can be found in the last two lines of poem, meaning "It is sweet and proper to die for the fatherland(your country)"

We did one poem in Irish (Teilifis) and one story/prose/whatever it is (An Punk). We have one essay learned off (Timpiste) and some people don't even know that. Seem to be okay on grammar but...
We're screwed as a class, aren't we? Mocks at the end of this month, they start right after midterm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,849 ✭✭✭bluejay14

You think you're screwed?! Try starting tomorrow!!

I should really go learn those music factfiles.....

What are . . music factfiles?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,849 ✭✭✭bluejay14

oh they're just basically lists of stuff about each song like name, category, type, form, musical features, tempo, mood etc, etc.

How'd you all get on today?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Mayoegian

I hope everybody is doing and will do well in your Mocks! Don't worry if you feel you haven't done well or got a bad mark-it's the Junior Cert that counts, and from my experience, Mock papers are generally(and probably deliberately) harder than the actual Junior Cert!

    Good Luck Everybody!:)

So, who has exams tomorrow? I have Business 1 and CSPE.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Mayoegian

    Thank you, MaighEoGoDeo. :)

You're welcome Wandering Soul! I had a huge long post made out the last day about timings etc. in the exam and plenty of advice, but I deleted it by accident!:o Oh well, I'll try to do another one soon again!:D

You have a nice exam tomorrow anyway-CSPE-which is the best! Do you know some of the Party Leaders faces e.g. Enda Kenny, Brian Cowen?:)

Once you know these, and a few key words such as Discrimination and Parole(came up last year), etc. for the fill in the blanks you'll be grand! The rest is just giving your opinion!:) As for Business, once you know the Layouts for the accounts-you're doing mighty! Practise the Short Questions in your exam papers because believe me, they get repeated! The IT terms, or some Business Organizations usually come up in Section A, i.e. what does ICTU stand for? etc.!

You'll be grand! What exams did you have today?
