He did. Duggan hit a lovely one from range too after catching a puckout. He got a nice one in the first half too where he bounced the sliotar as 3 or 4 Galway lads were chasing him. Tony Kelly hit a monster of a point too in the first half.

I've been quite critical of Shane O'Donnell at times but he was excellent on Saturday. With all the talk about Galway's physicality you would have expected this game to be one that O'Donnell would struggle to make an impact on. He really stepped up though when we were desperately needing scores. Fair play to him.

Who got the man of the match? They never announced it on the Sunday Game.

    Peter Duggan

All the forwards put in a serious shift, if I was to be critical I would have said Podge was the weak link but he never stopped moving, McGrath didn't get up to speed when he came on either, but boy oh boy, what a performance, SoD's point when he nearly judo threw his marker out his way was some score. Pity that we've to go to Thurles on Sunday, would have been great to be back in Croke Park, I would have thought that Limerick would have been better for both sets of supporters but I guess we'll have to be stuck in traffic for hours again.

How physically exhausting must it be for amatuer players to play 90 minutes of hurling at Croke Park. And then into work on Monday morning, and ready to go again next weekend.
Is there a case for freshening things up a bit the next day, Ian Galvin, David Fitzgerald could be options.
Morey struggled a lot I felt, also could the likes of Podge or Reidy be better options from the bench.
In just over 2 months, Clare have played Cork, Waterford, Tipp, Limerick, Cork again, Wecford, Galway (with extra time), and now Galway again.,

That's two games in a row when McGrath came on and really wasn't at the pace of the game at all.

The only saving grace is that it's the same for both teams. I wouldn't be making any changes for next week, the bench is crucial and I feel the likes of Galvin, Fitzgerald and Shanagher are far better subs to bring on than the starters would be (if that makes sense)

Actually, I've been very critical of the management's reluctance to make changes, on Sunday they weren't afraid to make changes in time, ok we were slow at the start of the game but how much of that was down to Galway's tactics and our players nerves?

I think tickets are being released online/centra this afternoon - according to John Hynes on Galway Bay this morning.

The change that needs to be made is swapping Fitzgerald for Cathal Malone. Malone is an honest player, but wasn't near the pitch of the game. I don't think he touched the ball in the first half. We can't afford that limitation.

McGrath looks to be off form or just not fit. There a lack of speed of hand and confidence there that you don't expect from one of the classiest players we have. It's a pity, he is a game changer and a winner.

Malone put in some shift, he was a 1 man midfield and covered some amount of ground, he might haven't done much on the ball but Galway struggled to get much clean ball into their forwards with all the "dirty" work he was doing, he reminded me a lot of Conor Clancy, by him doing all the dirty work it freed up those around him.

He wasn't at the pitch of the game at all was he? He seemed to be slower than everyone else, which is a pity because he's a great game changer

I've been disappointed with McGrath for a while now. Not making the impact you'd hope he would from the bench. He seems unsure of what to do these days and just slows things down as a result.

The event is up on tickets.ie but "The event you are trying to reach does not exist on our system because it either expired or it was never published." message so far.

It's gone now and interestingly, the Gal vs Tipp u21 game is now not for sale, they'd hardly have that as a curtain raiser?

Galway have 2 hurling All Ireland semi finals and a Super 8 game next weekend, it'd make a bit of sense to combine at least 2 of the games.

I thought that under 21 players weren't allowed feature in the senior panels, or is that just in football?

Must be just football. Loftus, Concannon and Grealish are just three involved in both Galway panels from the top of my head

    Nonesense post.

Why?? Someone suggested that the under 21 match might be played before the senior replay. Hardly fair to Galway.
