We're probably destined to play Wexford at some point in the league too, given the whole Davy thing

Confirmed tonight that Oisin O Brien will be out for the season. That's a big blow to us. Looks like a great man marker.

huge loss , wouldnt mind if it was only short to medium term but the likelihood is he wont see action again until this time next year , the cruciate injury is starting to become an epidemic in the game

Interesting team out on Sunday, with McInerney coming in at corner back. I think idealy we would want him in half back line but it may be out of necessity he plays in the full back line. Then again Pat O'Connor has still to come back.

Would have liked to see McCarthy start but happy for Ian Galvin is in. I think there is something a bit special about him, he could revel in the roaming role on Sunday.

team in full , expect jamie shanahan and fitz to swap , but they probably hold positions at the start to see how things develop, peter duggan is an unusual one starting up front , no doubt what the management are targeting in the dublin defense ,

dublin caused the cork full back line all sorts of trouble few weeks ago , and while john mcgrath is one of the best in the game at the moment he gave cian dillion a serious run around last week so probably the best place for david mc for the moment

Lucky, lucky win today. Poor game to watch, or was the pitch in its bog aspect?

They made hard work of that.

Made very hard work of that win. Played quite well in the first half but just didn't take our scores. Took too much out of the ball altogether once it got to the forwards.
Another awful sloppy goal given away and these need to be stopped.

Dominated the second half but weren't winning our own ball in the forwards at all. Took great scores from out the field to get ahead.

A lot has to be made of the Galvin substitution. Just found it very strange. He had messed up a great opportunity for a score a couple of minutes earlier but he certainly wasn't the worst of the forwards. But the lad can definitely take a score and we need them lads.

Conlon, Duggan and Malone were fairly poor. Very little contribution from them and struggled to win their own ball.

Podge was absolutely outstanding in the first half. Was running Rushe ragged. Great to see Dave Mac back and he didn't look rusty at all but MOTM was Morey. Superb in both defense and going forward and scoring two outstanding points.

Good analysis wouldn't disagree with any of that.

Did you find that playing Duggan and Galvin the corners was a strange decision? Like when were looking to spray the ball cross field, we need proper corner forwards that can take the ball cleanly and take on their man. If your playing Duggan, we have to hit in high ball close to goal, while Galvin should have been allowed drift out the field. I thought Cunningham should have came on earlier.

Overall the backs did ok and held Dublin to a decent score, but it was alot to do with Dublins poor play too. Bulger's stickwork is incredibly sloppy though.

    So much to work on.

i feel the line panicked a bit , ian galvin should have stayed on , scored 3 or 4 points , the lack of diagonal ball which was the key to our success against kilkenny was absent , when or forwards did win there ball in the first they tried to create goal chances that were not there

while it was a poor performance it was a good win, the fight back in the second will stand to the squad as the year goes on , to be able to bring on 3 or 4 subs and for all of them to be able to make an almost instant impact is a huge plus from previous years

not sure on pat kelly , he is killing us with puck outs , while we were up against a more physical team with bigger men he was predictable and for most parts of the game dublin had our number up

john conlon , jamie shannahan and cathal malone had poorer days then usual today , the good thing about the panel though is neither can afford to reproduce there performances the next day as the players are there to replace them ,especially with the ballyea lads back , and how well cunningham did coming in from the bench

I'd go back to Touhy also.

For me I think the goal today is a perfect example of why it's just not a good idea to rotate the position. Both himslf and Dillon were not on the same page as they this was only their second time playing together this year. Like a goalkeeper in soccer or a QB in american football, its important to pick your player and stick with him for the year as he has to develop an understanding with the full back line. As far as I was concerned, Tuohy won the job two months ago and was playing fine not to be dropped.

Great to see Seadna starting to fulfill his enormous potential though! Playing brilliant this year and his defending has shown a marked improvement. He is standing his man up more and not letting him in goal side like in the past. And its not comprising what he can do with the ball, which has always been top drawer.

he was excellent , his point in the second underneath the terrace was probably the score of the game , slight worry over dillon himself , a number of scores from dublin came from him losing a 50/50 or not being out in front this is probably going to be david macs position later in the year so there is a chance for one of the ballyea lads in the corner yet for when they come back

Seadna is wasted playing cornerback IMO, he should be playing wing back all the time, he can influence the game more and he's great at going forward.
But it's great to see him finally getting a run in the team, a run he should have got about 4 years ago.

the half back line is stacked at the moment , granted bugler is frustrating but cleary and fitz are doing a pretty good job , bring back jamie shanahan from midfield and morey then has to settle for a place in the full back line , an argument could be made for all 3 of todays full back line to be selected to play on the 40 , all 3 would be more familiar playing there with there clubs

as for morey not being selected? thank a mr fitzgerld for that , there a ton of lads getting there chance this year that have been over looked over the last 4 years

Ya true, Seadna should have been starting for seniors the year he won player of the year in 21's and ya the lads you named are probably only suited to the half back line, Seadna could do a serious job wing back though, I think with his strength and speed it would be his best position. He was amazing there for 21's.

Seems taking Galvin off was a premeditated move and to re introduce him at the end. Interesting tactic. Kelly was poor for the goal, Dillon did well , alot of ball came his way and he negated the attacker.

Not so sure, I think the Clare attack was very poor at the time and he was the unlucky one to be called ashore. Could easily have been Duggan/Shanaher/Conlon at the time -and the fact he just scored his 2nd point right when the 4th official was raising the board is what makes it a bit comical.

I think there is good potential in Galvin, but he is not a corner forward, and was a bit unfair to play him in that position.

There is no way it was a premeditated move there was too much at stake last Sunday to be trying something like that . The line opted for height in the full forward line so galvin was the unlucky one coming off .Cathal mc would have a bit more physicality then galvin for the corner .

My source reckons because Galvin isn't yet fully match fit that he was given 25 minutes and then 15 to finish. Seems this happened recently in a challenge game too. Odd I'll admit.

the players i can think of that were on the panel last year that have left
since the all ireland 1/4 final v kerry

    gone from the panel

    shane mcgrath
    kevin harrington
    sean haugh
    jack o'dea
    podge collins
    pat burke
    shane hickey
    enda coughlan

injured or tied up with ballyea
    gary brennan
    damien burke
    martin o'leary
    pearse lillis
    sean collins (inj)

all bar kevin harrington played some part in last years championship , the bulk of subs on the program last sunday were nearly minor or u21 .

Where is Shane Hickey gone to? He a huge loss. I thought Jack O'Dea was on panel. Is Harrington still playing with Doora Barefield?

Hickey retired form inter county . He has been round since he was 18 so he probably has enough done .

Harrington hasn't done Much with barefield yet this year but I think he is still involved

Unless Jack o'des is injured he has not been involved this year thus far

I'm happy that they are doing it to be honest, focus on the championship and don't worry about the league

Hickey is a huge loss. It a pity he only played 3 championship seasons with Clare. Hopefully with success under Colm Collins will change mindset of players playing with the county footballers in the future

Club Clare reporting Colm Galvin and Cathal 'Tots' O'Connell will resume training. Hopefully we get 100pc from the two lads now.

Great news to hear; hopefully should increase competition for places; once we get the ballyea lads back we shud have a good team to pick from for the waterford game

Yeah its certainly not going to be straight forward. Galvin realistically is an automatic starter on form, he is one of the true top hurlers we have in the county.
