    3.18
Hardest thing ive ever done in my life. 27 degrees for the last 9 or so miles. Funny thing is i was flying until 17 miles, i was 1 minute ahead of 3.10 pace and i got a stich and had to slow down for 5 miles cause it was affecting my breathing. Got rid of it at about 22 miles and was able to get back to 3.10 pace until near the end when i backed off a bit because i couldnt pb anymore. Id say yesterday was a better effort than the 3.14 in blackpool.
The men were speerated from the boys:D

Hard luck Oisin. If its hotter than 20 they say you can forget about it, stich etc doesnt help. Still, not so long ago 3.18 would have been a great PB. Shows you are fit enough to do it in longford

Well done, you'll notice a big change in your times for the cooler races, and the hot runs stand to you as well for teaching the body to cope eith harsh conditions.

Thanks lads. Im happy with yesterday. Im not foolish enough to moan about a run in conditions like that. It was horrendous. 1 person died and there was a couple of heart attacks. Id say im about 10 mins quicker than that. Longford here we come:-)

Thats the kind of information my mother would love to hear, and start worrying more about me every time I head off for a run. :)

Got my splits from edinburgh. Half way was 1.35.00. Was aiming for 1.35 but to hit it on the nail without my garmin is funny:D

I like the look of the course and sure with the 5km loops ill take it 5km at a time. If i feel its not on at anytime ill back off but i have a good feeling about this one. Like i had a bad feeling before edinburgh even though i was in good nick. I seem to have excellent recovery and it would be a shame to waste it:-)

Got my new 310xt today. Wanted to bring it for a decent run so i did my usual 13.1 mile route. Felt very surmi today. Could have done some damage in a small race i reckon. First time with a hrm as well. Was very very comfortable. I watched the heart rate screen only as i jody the route was spot on 13.1. Started off low and rose about 10 beats. Last 4 miles uphill so it rose another 10ish beats per min. Felt very strong throughout.

    Cork marathon 3.45 pacer.
    3.44.47
Found it very njoyable and very easy to be honest. Had a big group with me, about 100 at times.
Finished with about 4 or 5 with about 20 or so pushing on and alot dropping back.
Weather was brutal and the course was flat enough.

Well done Oisin1178. Perfectly executed again. Better route than Limerick?

Very similar in my opinion. A few miles in the city. Jack lynch tunnel made my gps have a nervous breakdown. The river section was exactly like the narrow river section in Limerick and about the same lenght. Then worked our way back into the city. The profiles of the 2 courses was fairly similar, no hills to speak of.
Finishes were similar, on the main street.
One grumble i would have is at a couple of the relay changeover points it was very conjested. Actually had to stop at one stage. Not really a big issue, just over exited runners trying to get a look in for there partners. Overall it was enjoyable and as for the course not being scenic, the organisers cant make scenery. Also i wouldnt liked to have been going for a time there yesterday and fair play to anyone who got their time. Also my average heartrate was 155. Is that anygood?

Epic training session today. Had a rest day yesterday hoping today i would feel fresh. Woke up feeling tired. Decided to knock the planned 10 mile run on the head. Then thought hang on, its the bad days that make all the difference. Went out and felt brutal straight away. First couple of miles wont quickly and still felt ****. I decided to do 3 quicker miles and these made me feel dreadful. I was talking to myself giving out, i must have looked mental. Decided to drop the pace back down but i still felt ****. Went about another 2 miles and started thinking about stopping. Never felt as tired. I decided to ignore the **** feelings and dug in. Never have i felt this dreadful during training. Mile by mile it got hotter and worse i felt but i kept my pace to an ok level. Got to the clontarf end of the coast and it was very hot. 1 mile left but i refused to stop. I got to the finish and lay in fairview park giving out stink to myself.

I remember making a deal with myself a while back that if i was thinking about ditchioi a training session and these was no valid reason like an injury ect.. I would make it longer and faster. Keeps the lazyness at bay:-)

Rest day sunday after a few gargles saturday night:-)
Today i decided to advance my training by heartrate. I was working out my expected heart rate for different work outs. My average for cork at 8.28 was just over 155. It rose over the course of the race and was about 145 at the start for about 8 or 9 miles. I though over 13.1 miles in decent weather like today 155 would be a very substainable heart rate of a max heart rate of nearly 200. My easy paced runs should fall into the time frame of 7.45-8.15 so hopefully my pace would fall into this zone. Anyway i decided to do a slightly slower mile and let the heart rate dictate pace from then on.

    Rest day tuesday.
Today i decided as the weather was so good i would run really slow till i got bored.
Wanted to run 9 min miles but judge it on feel and see how i got on. Heart rate monitor is very quirky on my new 310 garmin. First mile had me at 250 for about 300 metres. Death by faceplant:-).
It settled down in the second mile to about 135 but it was erratic during the whole run to say the least. Big spikes with no change in pace or incline. Kind of annoyed me but what can you do.

Got hungry at this stage and there was a centra beside me so the run ended. Enjoyed the great weather and didnt get bored.

Good idea. Handy to have a bit of salt for the long runs in this heat ;)
